Raising prices in the middle of a public relations crisis is peak games workshop. They are definitely graduates of the school of thought “The beatings will continue until morale improves.”
Big Two comics milk the ones that stay behind with price hikes. Games workshop same tactic different industry. Same with cinemas tickets they cost more and less people go.
Kotaku don't care about the industry, they only care about attention = revenue. And this incident proves they are willing to do EVERYTHING for attention. Only costly lawsuits will end this abomination.
Just remember that Alyssa convinced Kotaku to keep doing these hate bait idealogical propaganda pieces because it was going to make them more money.
They have exactly zero grounds for any of this moral grandstanding and their vitriolic behaviour should be fought every step of the way.
that's debatable, if all the attention Alyssa is getting is translating to revenue, kotaku would not have fired another 4 people. This is just unhinged people doing unhinged things

Craig’s Psych analysis on Alyssa is wrong, the reason for the way she is I’m confident is because she was raised very well, probably had wealthy parents, had her college tuition covered & while there was trained to think & operate as an activist, she was never told no growing up. Alyssa is just a very spoiled & entitled person & I’m sure because no one ever told her no, in her mind she believes everything she says & does is what’s right.

It’s not all that common for people who grew up in a nuclear family household but Alyssa had the privilege of being raised by both parents & went to college & look how she turned out ☠️😂

The problem with Video game bloggers is two-fold (maybe even three-fold).
1. Is a problem that was at the center of GamerGate 1.0: Friends in the industry (and other types of relationships), but also the need for access.They have to retain certain kinds of relationships in order to get their early/review copies. They also sometimes get free gifts and flown out to events and parties, which they also don't want to lose.
2. Is as Arch said. The problem is activism and a sense of superiority.
3. Is money. Their sites run ads. If they write inflammatory articles, they can bait people into reading them, which earns the site money. This is made worse since they can make money directly by making inflammatory tweets that bait people into responding.
All three of these are true all the time. Maybe not always to the same degrees, but always true nonetheless.
Saying these people are the way they are is because they went through something bad in their life is not accurate in my opinion. Many people experience horrible things in their lives and do not act like THESE people. They are making the conscious choice to be the way they are. Do and say the things that they do. You have a choice in being who you want to be. They can believe what they want but they have a choice in how they want to behave. Contacting someone's spouse to attack their marriage because they are angered by what the person said is a choice. Simple as that with the exception of mental derangement or defect.
I would go even further. These people act this way precisely because they have never had anything truly horrible happen to them. They act like 30 something year old kindergarten kids and its probably because they haven't been bullied enough as kids.
Yeah, some people are just so spoiled that anything slightly bad happens to them, they see it as a personal attack
True I have known people who have been through the ACTUAL crap these wokies claim they have.
Of them, only 2 out of 7 turned into vile people, the others are some of the kindest, sweetest ladies you will ever meet.
People forget, it is possible to turn away from the Darkside, it is up to the individual to choose to walk another path.
The level of false entitlement in the games industry is wild to me. From these so called journalists to these Devs that don't deliver products believing they should be supported as "artists."

It seems to me that in 2024 people are coming to the realization that I already had back in 2018: Kotaku are not journalists. They are charlatans that spew zealous political beliefs through the video game medium.
