I don't even use a Sony camera and I watch your videos. That shows how amazing your videos are and personaliy

Thanks so much!! I'm so glad that these can be entertaining without people being invested in the gear itself

@@AustinBlackvideo I know you talked about how you grade you footage but there is something about it, that makes skintones pop and makes everything look regardless of what it is. I was just wondering how you achieve that look. I don't have a sony but a panasonic g85 camera but still really like how your looks. Any tips to point me in the right direction or is it all in grading.

Hey bro, great points. I did want to mention the ISO performance. I find you get much less noise if you overexpose by raising ISO, you'll get much cleaner shadows. Pull the image back down in post (shadows/midtones/highlights depending on the shot) and you'll have a really nice image. Too low ISO often results in noise in the shadows in my experience.

Agreed. You never want the main details of your shot buried under noise. Some people starting out may be agreed to raise their ISO to 6400 or something, but in doing so, they underexpose and create a worse image

Hey Austin, hello from BC, Canada:) Excellent content! You and Kristin seem so nice, love the channel and a big congrats on the new FX9!!!
Question: I recently acquired the A7iii and I was curious if you use zebras with your EOSHD Pro Color on your Cine2 profile. I don't have an external monitor yet and currently use the histogram a lot. I've been playing around with the zebras at 70, 95, 100+ for skin tones vs highlights, and I was curious if you had a preference or used them at all. I trust your input, much appreciated.
By the way, your FX9 footage looks fantastic!! Cheers.

Really nice video. At 1:08 you mentioned that this is a "marathon and not a sprint/race", which is true for the user, but not for the manufacturers. Since it's a race for manufacturers, it is a race for 99% of the youtube camera channels, too, just check out the myriads of totally silly click-bait titles "Is it time to switch to Xxxx?", "Is Yyyy a game changer and Zzzz killer?" And users a happily bite the bait and frustrated to jump between camera systems. You mentioned a couple of times the 8-bit, 100Mbps, 420 video specs of Sony. Honestly, to me even 100Mbps is too much for every day workflow. The popular camera reviewer, Tony Northrup, recently mentioned that they silently went back from 4K to HD for their studio work, because they found HD good enough.
The mighty IMX410 sensor, which is used in all recent 24M FF cameras today, A7III, Z6, S1, S1H, Sigma fp, has a brilliant feature: direct 4K readout from the entire 6K sensor. This paired with PDAF for the A7III and Z6 -- unfortunately not with S1, S1H and fp -- was the magic recipe for success; brilliant full-frame downsampled 4K along with excellent reliable video AF. Now, that you, Austin, have the FX9, you will have the bits you wished for, too.

Already loving the 10 bit on the FX9 😉 Totally agreed with the "Switching to x Camera" videos.. I hope to encourage people to shoot with what they have. Even if you have a Panasonic G7 or something, you can shoot great stuff if you know how to use it.

Love First I’ve spent a good amount of time dialing in the picture profile to my liking, and also those lens distortion finishing luts have been really good. My best tip would be to never stop tinkering each time you shoot until you eventually find something that works for you. Believe me, I’ve had some cringe-worthy color grades in the past, but the experience and tinkering eventually brought me to a point where I can dial things in more realistically

@@AustinBlackvideo thank you alot Austin. I am a literally always changing the settings in my picture profile like saturation and noise reduction. Just want to get the best out of my camera. I did also get the finishing luts which I like a lot so far. Do you think one light is enough to light up a wedding reception
