For those who don't have a local dyno shop available, some tuners can do a very good job for you remotely by reviewing data logs and adjusting/rewriting your tune as needed.
This is really cool. The engine looks awesome. If I was going with something like this, I would go the middle of the road set up as was described in the video. Can’t wait to see how much HP comes out of this engine set up like this. Having said all that, I’m sure that the cost involved in this is probably pretty pricy.
Looking forward to future videos for this build
Finally! You're my savior I'm working on my 223 I line, thanks
Dude dump the 223 turd. 4 main and really just an updated Side valve? Do a 300. I’ve built 300 GMC blown Nitro engines at 14:1 for a dragster that played very rough with V8s
cup of coffee and a 45 minute video about efi on 300's, on a saturday morning? Ya im down
Hope it lives up to expectations!
@enginegremlin not my expectations yours I'm just getting educated
That's going to be ONE THUMPING 200 I6 !
Where are the rest of the episodes? Great build BTW!
In work. Part 4 will release in a few weeks. Parts 5 through 7 will be end of 2023 and early 2024
@@enginegremlin OK, Great. I'm really looking forward to seeing them. I have a soft spot for the Ford I6, I think it is tremendously underated as a Strong street motor. Cheers.
This is an interesting set of videos. I have a 200 in my Xb Falcon Ute (Australia) but likely going to fit my Cleveland or maybe a Barra. I was under the impression that the cross flow head could not be fitted to pre cross flow engines here. Anyway I’m looking forward to the next instalment.
Diablos quedó genial una chulada de motor 💪😎🍻
My solution for the 300 6 intake/exhaust was the fuel injection exhaust and intake manifolds but replaced the throttle body with a side draft weber. The cost and effort to install EFI better put to other problems.
ever thought about a aussie cross flow head that would be sweet . i dont know how avalable they are or how expencive the are but how cool they work!!!!!!!!!!!!
We did but we have something even better in the works.
hey!! are you going to keep the videos on this car or you going to wait until your new head is fully design and produced? You are doing a grat job with the videos bro!!
I was going to watch this but once i saw efi in the title. Nevermind.
When is the dyno video going to come?
Very nice and exiting video, thanks. I am looking to see how to wake up my 65 - 200 six. With your knowledge with inline sixes, could you please indicate what HP improvement can it be attained by installing a head from a 200 1978-1980 cylinder head that has a bigger cast intake manifold and pairing with a Holley for a two barrel set up. Appreciate your comments. I will waait to see when would your head will be available. Thank you
On the Ignition, you could just run a good electronic disruptor with msd 6Al box and run in any horse Power
you want to handle. We've run that with 800 horsepower Small blocks
I like it. I'll have to dig into it more.
have you considered the painless harness? its rumored to be able to this complete set up, its all labeled, organized etc
I have a painless complete wiring harness for the car. But as far as the engine goes, they don't have anything that quite fits the bill.
I have the almost exact build going, except i am using an Aussie 2V head since that was all I could get ahold of. I have an intake already set up with MPFI but not that holley terminator style one. I do plan to use the Terminator however. What kind of supercharger do you plan to run if any? Thats what i plan to use. I am trying to hit the 450hp crank or better area.
Also, where abouts are you located? Im in the greater Seattle area.
I would prefer to build a boss 300 6 but with a proper head design
How's the reliability of your TBI unit?
Have you gone onto the fordsix forum? There is a topic for efi tuning on these and the big six. Some of the guys share tunes on there but i dont know if youre going into unchartered territory either.
I have. Unfortunately we're only 1 of 2 people (that we're aware of) to ever set up an HP on the small 6. And we're both at about the same place progress wise.
One Question why not go with the 250 Crankshaft ? Or wouldn't it fit the 200 block ?
Doesn't fit and can't achieve as high a rev count. 😞
Seems more recommendations than explaining the wiring.
Have you asked Holley if the hyper spark can me converted to cam and crank signal. Similar to a dual sync?
So it can be IF it's paired with a Sniper EFI throttle body. The reluctor wheel has one tooth different so the Sniper software can tell what cylinder 1 is. The v6 software on the HP and Terminator ECU doesn't support it being used that way. That being said, I would love to see that as an update push to the next rev of the software and plan to flow that up to @holleyperformance.
@@enginegremlin oh ok i was hoping it will as I want to go smart coils and sequential with a term x.
How much horsepower will it have when it’s done ?
If our math is right as well as the tune, should be around 250 with the cam we have in it. A more aggressive cam could get a little more.
@@enginegremlin so it about doubled it. At what cost$ moneywise ? Also suggest upgrade an inline 6 or just do a complete v8 swap? Which is more economical?
@@tmacdagreattv a V8 will definitely be more economical but not nearly as unique or fun. Our i6 will dump out between 350 and 500 HP when we boost it and re-tune it depend on how much boost you add. With the new head we're designing we're targeting 750-1000 HP but it requires some SERIOUS mods. The build up to this point between $6k -$8.5k depending on how much you do yourself vs a machine shop and the state of your motor. Our motor was totally seized and needed a complete overhaul.
@@enginegremlin nice , so how much would you estimate would be the cost to get my inline 6 to about 300-350 hp?
@@tmacdagreattv if you use a Sniper unit and a supercharger out of one of the fox body 5.0s (which is the easiest way), I'd say $7.5k-$8k assuming you do a full motor rebuild. Less if you motor is running and in decent shape.
Where is part 4 through 7 at? Ready to see.
Part 4 is in work. We're running the dyno currently. Parts 5 through 7 will be next year since there are some major overhauls with boost and other hardware that will take time. We're trying to show every configuration and how to do it based on what folks power goals are.
@@enginegremlin Hello. Did you ever finish parts 4 - 7 ?
@@steppydaddy972 still in work. I went on hiatus for a bit when my twins were born and designing a new cylinder head takes a while.
Engine Gremlin. I understand. Tyson much. I have a 4.9 300 I haven't even started on yet. Blessings on you & your family.
Contact an Australian auto wreckers & get the cross flow head from a xc falcon 250
We have something even better in the works.
Engine Gremlin. When are you gonna do the Dyno video?
Where is part 4?
@@jamesritchie8540 in work. My wife and I had twins so filming was put on hold for a while
Where are the dyno test numbers???
Coming! There are two engines ahead of us in line on the dyno.
All this and can't hear it run video?
I'll get a video up soon of first startup
show running and dyno there is a reason everyone uses v8s 1/8 the cost for the same power ok being different but it's gonna cost you
the trouble with your motor it is not a ford Barra 6 from assie at least it is best it can be.🙂
Sorry you list me. I just wanna rebuild the engine, do away with the unnecessary smog stuff, sensors and replace the dried out wiring. Thanks.
Did you give up on this or what?
Nope. Just had to slow down for a bit with the birth of my twins, my employer's new rocket launching, and the holidays
@@enginegremlin Well congrats on the Twins! Cant wait to see the next video
Dude you have built a beautiful engine with a lot of cool high speed stuff but it is very difficult to listen to you talk about all of this stuff. Quit apologizing for so many things. It is what it is whether it’s your fault or not. If you have subscribers complaining then they should just get the hell over it. Second quit saying “uh” every other word. It’s very tedious to listen to. Third when and where is the #4 dyno video? I have looked through all of your videos and don’t see one labeled as such.
I see this as a waste of time and money. I'd bet a dollar the horsepower and torque curves would be extremely close to each other with little change in drivability. Why bother?
Because it will be necessary when we upgrade the head and add boost.
Nope no more EFI crap on my vehicles. They will leave you sitting on the side of the road waiting for a tow. Carbs and points will do just as good or even better if done right. This going electronic with everything is just dumbing down the hot rod world. Anybody can buy the parts and bolt them on and go but if they had to make or convert the part themselves they will be lost.
Each to their own but , Ill take EFI and cam/crank triggers/distributor less ignition over the old stuff anyday
No problem if you do but don't forget to keep money back for repairs and tow fees because the cost is much higher for newer vehicles than older and good luck in bad weather- snow etc. Last efi vehicle i owned broke down at 8000 feet on the interstate in a blizzard. Never again. Keep an emergency kit in your car, you will eventually need it.
