Mine went through the roof today when a stressful conversation came up. I said i need to stop this conversation because i can feel it happening. At that point was told i was pulling a stunt and faking it, which made it ten times worse. This was the point i took a reading. It was 180 over 111.
I took myself away from the person and had a cup of tea and some space and within 15 mins it was 113 over 80.

Very great presentation. I went in to get an upper endoscopy yesterday and a male nurse told me my bp went over 180 while I was under the anesthesia and I said, "Oh, yeah. I know. Hypertensive crisis. I've had it before at home once." He looked relieved that I knew what it meant and took it in stride. My discharge papers say "Problems-active: stroke," among other conditions I never knew I had. I don't know how to interpret that. Whether it means I HAD A Stroke on the table or am just at risk for one. It's good to understand the pressure better.

Hello & thanks for watching! Since hypertension is a global health issue that many times goes undetected, much research is devoted to it. Guidelines are then developed based on the evidence found in peer reviewed studies and clinical trials. Here is some background information from the American Heart Association (AHA): www.ahajournals.org/doi/10.1161/HYPERTENSIONAHA.120.15026
      Good luck in your studies!
