- The 7th edition of The World Electronic Music Awards will take place in Las Vegas (Dates will be announced Shortly). A two-hour primetime TV show will be broadcast in 120 territories worldwide. The key award categories are Artist of The Year in Europe, Asia, North America, and World Artist of The Year. The live show will feature international superstars from cinema, TV, and social media, with the world’s biggest DJs and Artists collaborating and showcasing the best tracks of the year during the two-hour live show. The worldwide livestream will feature behind the scenes, red carpet, interviews, and post show reviews.
The first World Electronic Music Awards, then known as The Dancestar Awards were launched on a grand scale in the year 2000 at Alexander Palace, London with over 5,000 industry attendees and 21 TV Cameras capturing every angle. Certainly, nothing like it had been done before in the Electronic Music space.
The show continued to expand annually and in 2002, Dancestar was also launched in Miami during The Winter Music Conference, taking over six blocks of sand on Miami Beach. In all, six Dancestar shows were staged between 2000 and 2004 on both sides of the Atlantic with Dancestar USA 2004 credited as the most widely televised Electronic Music event in history, broadcast in over 50 countries to an estimated 600 million households.
The TV shows were hosted by superstar DJs and Hollywood Stars; Boy George, Roger Sanchez, Erick Morillo, Juliette Lewis, Tess Daly, Rosalyn Sanchez, and Carmen Electra.
Dancestar featured Live Performances from; ATB, Fragma Ft. Coco, Chicane Ft. Bryan Adams, P. Diddy Ft. Kelis, IIO, Telepopmusik, MOBY, Oakenfold, Alice DJ, Artful Dodger, Funkstar Deluxe, Luck & Neat, Architects, Faithless, Girl Next Door, Jakarta, Pied Piper, Public Domain, Safri Duo, Sonique, Ian van Dahl, Kosheen, Lasgo, Orbital, Shy FX, Tim Deluxe, Funky Green Dogs, Grandmaster Flash, Green Velvet, Kelis, Masters At Work, Dark Beat, Audio Bullys, JC Chasez, Dirty Vegas Ft. Annette Strean has the greatest voice EVER. I came across her and Venus Hum as I was watching BMG videos back in the early 2000's. I listened to her sing "I Feel Love" and instantly fell in love with her voice... At the time, I was working for Frontier Airlines in Denver. I took the family to Nashville to see Venus Hum live at The Cannery just for the one night. I got to the gig early and Annette was setting up a table with their albums on it. We started to chit chat and she was in awe that I would fly all the way to Nashville just to see them, let alone just for one night. She is such a sweet person. I bought a CD and she signed it for me, then she quickly took it to Tony and Kip to sign as well... Their little concert was AMAZING and seemed very personal.... After the show, I tracked her down, told her how amazing they were...she thank me profusely for flying all that way just to see them, gave her a hug, waved to Kip and Tony, and headed to the hotel to get some rest before catching the first flight back to Denver... A memory I'll never forget... When I found out she had issues with her voice, it was a sad day... I really miss Venus Hum... I also know that Tony and Kip both have been doing their own solo projects for quite some time... I hope they can muster up one more album... Miss your music VENUS HUM!!!!!
How nice to read this! I discovered them while I was away at school in the late 90s and actually saw them one time at the Cannery too. Saw them at TPAC later with Blue Man. They were unreal. During this song, her voice just soared through the theater. I remember a few people behind us who had never heard of Venus Hum talking about how amazing they were. I just wish they would make more music. I have loved their stuff since 1999.

O.K. of all the encore performances of BMG w/VH doing "I Feel Love" ; This comes close to the original. She really put efort into this one. The adds weren't .... bad ... and even enhanced in places. But I still stand that the original BMG w/VH is THE best performance ever. Theirs or anybody elses'.
