Stop sign law: Drivers must stop just before the solid stop line Motorists must stop behind the line at a junction where a stop sign is in place with a solid white line. Because far too many cops in these cases automatically go into "defence of the realm" mode & start acting like they're suddenly on front-line duty in the raging war of English street level terrorism (as if!) where legal rights suddenly don't enter their equation. Certainly the security team with no more legal power than you, me or anyone, were having a meeting over A.B. & probably ended up saying "how can the cops just drive off & leave him to film here? it aint right, whe should have guns but let's walk the perimeter & find someone to give em hell" maybe. What the police officer did when he challenged you on the 50 mph speed limit was very smooth and smart. Because he said if you were a regular you would know this. That's sneaky but brilliant. Great video!
Yeah the officer clearly new his stuff, to be completely honest that stop sign makes no sense there's plenty of room and time to be able to see oncoming traffic, its likely that vision used to be obstructed at this T junction but until its taken down it still applies people should be coming to a complete halt at a stop sign lest you be liable for any injuries in the event of an accident.
@@danieljohnson8539 That sign is not likely to conform to the Traffic Signs Regulations 2016, thus its not likely an actual lawful requirement to stop. I would also suspect its on private property, which whilst it may form part of a road it does not form part of the highway. Just my 2ps worth..

I have no doubt, someone not making a complete stop prior to the stop line, will eventually cause an accident, if not a fatality. I believe the officer will teach the security guard. Be safe, AB. 🌺
Correct. If riding a motorcycle I was taught to put a foot down at the stop line so that there could be no doubt in a traffic policeman's mind that you have stopped thus giving him one less reason to mess you around.

Tbh it doesn't matter if they stop or not... they go to a crawl and then look to see if anything's coming, if nothing is coming there is no need to stop. The 'stop' signs are there to stop people just pulling out with out looking, it doesn't mean you literally have to stop, if there's ample room to slow your vehicle right down and clearly see there is nothing coming and then speed back up, the fact they don't actually 'stop' is just a pedantic point. Nothing dangerous about that at all. In some junctions with less visibility it may be safer to come to a complete stop but you can see plenty without doing so here. No, this cop's ok. Relative to the others we see on here he's top 5 in the country.
Wayne Mongo god help your country then
This cop wasn't actually following his duties. He should have forced the man to leave as it is illegal to record vehicles leaving a MOD base on Terrorism grounds. Theres plenty of other videos on UA-cam of this thing happening. The funniest thing is that he thinks he is allowed to record this. Quiet a hefty jail sentence.
@@keeli5575 You can record anything you like, aslong you are doing in a public space - which he is. For the terrorism part, they would also need to provide evidence of him planning or actually committing said offence.
@@drummonkeystuffuk1875 this unfortunately is factually incorrect. Please know the laws if you plan to break them
If you look closely, it looks like the road markings have been altered. At one time you could go into a lane on the left and then enter when main road was clear. Also, the stop sign is too far away from the junction. It requires to be moved, as drivers probably cannot see it in that position.
You're right about the vertical STOP sign being too far away to be efficient, but there's still both the STOP sign on the ground and the STOP line.
Stop sign law:
Drivers must stop just before the solid stop line
Motorists must stop behind the line at a junction where a stop sign is in place with a solid white line. It is law that a driver must stop at least once before the line and wait for a safe gap before proceeding. The officer said 'ah, but I did give way'. The sign said STOP, not give way!
He committed a road traffic offence!
Soon as I saw the words "Ministry of defence" I thought "here we go, this might get spicy or over heated" even tho it was clearly a low-level security ministry post, judging by the fencing.
But hats off to the real cop! ...for not escalating things to a ridiculous, unnecessary & unlawful extent, he was decent & respectful, and a clued up cop, "I dont suppose you'd like to give me your name?" he says & with a smile before he turns his head away & walks off, & with no prior pushing for i.d. ...they'd do well to show this film from when Mr. yellow jacket walked up through to the end of the real-cop interaction scene, and show it to all cops, wether training, established or nearly retired, for them to learn what properly lawful & decent behaviour is towards the public & the public's own legal rights & how not to tie-up very many work-hours of cops by calling back-up & having scenarios like this one, ending up with 4 or 5 cop cars, a cop-van & 12 coppers lurking in the background doing nothing ...& all unnecessarily so.
P.S. Anyone else think the yellow jacket security guy was acting weird? ...the way he kept frantically circling his thumb around one of the same 2 top buttons on that big box he held, depending on which hand he passed it to. Always anticlockwise when in his right hand & always clockwise when in his left hand. I thought it showed the inner stress he has when confronting people & he has OCD, he'd make a rubbish poker player with obvious upfront 'tells' like that.
Great audit,,loving this channel,,awareness of rights and using them is so important,,especially in the uk where the people have much less rights than americans.
Police officer took that like an absolute champ. Good bloke.
He suggested he’s broken the law?
@@tommyawton8931 ?? What do you mean?
@@tommyawton8931 yes that's exactly what he was suggesting! Tut tut tut, Naughty officer 😏
He was only nice because he got caught out breaking the law..
Until he tried and suggest ab had broken the law by speeding. No need.
The road markings of a solid line and STOP written on the road require you to stop rather than give way.
@Hans Hummer No, you can still be convicted of a traffic offence, ignoring road directions markings, a stop or give way sign on private property for example.
@Hans Hummer try driving about drunk and crashing into vehicles in a Tesco car park and see if you get arrested.
@Hans Hummer
Try ignoring signs in a Tesco Carpark have an accident and see which way the insurers will go.
If, there are is signage you ignore it at your peril.
Let us suppose that someone failed to stop at the line, pulled out into traffic and caused an accident. Are you suggesting that they wouldn't be charged ?
Dr Wolfgang Chausser fook off nob. The solid white stop line is on the public highway!
Good job AB and I hope the message gets through to them before a fatal accident!!
08:10 "I've give way haven't I?"..... Isn't it s STOP sign and NOT a Give way sign?
its a stop sign before a give way line that he didnt actually cross
@@motovlogger3978 no a solid white line is a stop sign and untill the last year meant you had to stop and pull up your handbrake before moving again.
The brass neck on that copper accusing AB of speeding when he's on camera ignoring a clear stop line. No matter how friendly they try to appear, the ego always outs.
Always a pleasure Sir Auditing Britain watching you do what you do extremely well, sharing knowledge, educating and putting them in their place.
From me, better late than never.😉
Thank you so much dear friend . I’m always looking forward for your positive encouraging comment 👍

You're welcome.☯️😎👍
@@auwz66 the guard confirmed it was public plus the rather large STOP painted on the road plus the broad solid line kinda gives the game away..
If you consider that brilliant, that only speaks of your mental capabilities.
06:35 you should have informed him about his failure to stop at a stop sign and the fact his number plate is obscured.
If you look up the number plate of the police x5 bmw escorting the lorry that had all the dead people in it a few months ago it has mot that run out over a year ago
Come on. This cop's ok. We know the bad ones.
@@waynemongo if he was that "ok", why did he purposely try to shift focus entirely on AB's possible speeding due to not knowing off-hand what the speed limit was and not just say "you know what, you're right, sorry"? And why did he ask whether AB was going to report any of the vehicles (including the police car)? He has no need or right to ask that question as it puts the potential complainant under undue stress regarding making the complaint/report (if they wish to do so). He was only well-mannered because AB said that he doesn't report to the authorities, only the public. Otherwise, the officer would have acted quite differently knowing he's going to be reported and I bet we'd have seen a retaliation of some sort (he "admitted" speeding because he thought the speed limit was 60 not 50, that's enough 'proof' for him to probe further if he was pissed off. Come on!
You have to give the cop full credit on how well he did his job.
I give him full credit for finding 'speeding' while ignoring the stop sign issue, and acting 'superior'.
They cannot see themselves as others see them!
Huh? He said he gave way at a stop sign, stupid wtf are you on about, you stop at a stop sign and a solid line, he broke the Highway Code, good job wtf?? 😂😂😂
@@thomasdowe5274totally agree with you mate. Don’t agree with the other persons comment. I thought the copper was a div.
The policeman didn’t stop on the line he parked on double yellow lines and his registration was not clear because all the dirt..
Wow if a civilian didn’t come to a complete stop at a stop sign and just “gave way” they would pull you over!
The officer had dirty number plate, you or I would get a fix penalty notice.
It’s up to £1,000.00 fine!

How can the police solve any crime, when they spend most of their time creating or committing crimes!🤦♂️
You or I would have been issued a fixed penalty notice or charged to court.🙄
I dont think police run number plate checks on other police cars do they????

Police officers are not above the law!!!
An officer was convicted driving at 159MPH and picked up by several speeding cameras.. If he had obscured number plates he would had got away with it. There was no emergency..
www.google.com/amp/s/amp.theguardian.com/uk/2006/aug/25/ukcrime
Your confusing our rules with their rules. You know they have a different set.
Only an bad policeman would carry through on a prosecution for these two offences. A good one would give you some free advice. The Policeman here is a good cop. We know this as we have all seen how the bad ones operate. It's true that not all cop's are bad at their jobs - only most of them.
I have no doubt, someone not making a complete stop prior to the stop line, will eventually cause an accident, if not a fatality. I believe the officer will teach the security guard. Be safe, AB. 🌺
the white line on the road means you have to come to a full stop
Correct. If riding a motorcycle I was taught to put a foot down at the stop line so that there could be no doubt in a traffic policeman's mind that you have stopped thus giving him one less reason to mess you around.
Love the fact he tries to chastise him for a theoretical speeding offence when he's just admitted on film to failing to stop at a stop sign. Lead by Example much?
Haha the gall!
In the area where I live the speed limits have changed many times over the years without prior notice. Driving at 60 can be legal on one day and illegal the next.
He actually thinks he's a copper 🤣
Well. He is.
So does the copper
That cheeky copper tried to turn the bloody table on you for speeding. Lol!
Pretty decent Officer give us a little hope that's a few good one still out there
You can tell he's a good guy. He treats our hero like a mental needs guy though - which is quite funny.
Meh, he jumped on the chance to get a one-up on AB when the 60 speed limit was mentioned, was clearly looking for a small victory when he had been filmed doing something embarrassing that he shouldn't have done
Seems a decent, knowledgeable person really so fair play, don't tar all with the same brush as that is wrong!. Too many failed milk monitor's from school these days and just want to throw around laws they truely dont know about. Seen videos of them looking it up on their phones and that is totally laughable !!!!. If i was like that in work, I'd be expecting a chat off my superior and warnings. If they want respect, then abide by the laws also. Stay safe all 😊🤗
Didnt help that theres a 50 mph sign straight behind him!. Peeps need to do their homework also!!. Seemed a decent officer so fair play to his comment really
Jolly decent officer. Was very good at picking up your thoughts that it might be a 60 mph limit and focusing on same. And even so courteous at the end, just wanted to double check if you wanted to hand over your details. Well you never know it might have slipped your mind.great work AB.Yo! Out.
STOPPING PAST THE LINE IS A FAIL!
Out of all the videos I’ve watched, that copper was sound as. He was clearly smart and didn’t want any unnecessary interaction. Great videos AB
If a cop saw the back of your vehicle as the state of his, you'd get a ticket for obscured number plate, double standards.
Plus, STOP signs are really quite rare in the UK......JUST STOP!!!! Copper saying......'well, I Gave Way, didn't I?? '.....DOESN'T hold water.....they'd stop us....and WORSE!!! 😡🇬🇧
I like the way the officer cheekily try’s to get a speeding ticket into the conversation...
only because he'd just been told he'd been filmed committing a traffic offence.
He just pointed out no one is stopping at the stop sign; suddenly the conversation turns into he doesn’t know the speed limit and he must have been speeding, that is why you don’t have chit chat with the Police.
Good work
PC1940 of military defence police, if you wish to continue enforcing the rules, may I suggest that people may take you more seriously while you try, if you get your own house in order. Just saying
PC1940 knows the speed limits, but not the rest of the rules of the road. Selective memory.
The cars didn't stop because you could clearly see there was no vehicles coming. Really?
Yep, that'll be about what I thought.
'I've give way haven't I?? It's a STOP Junction you silly copper!
Good cop right there, we need more like him
what? criminal cops? how's he a good cop broke the law infront of thousands of viewers failed to stop, that's a criminal offence
Loool are you an imbecile
Ohhhh I see officer, so just giving way at stop sign's is actually all that's required. Good to know for future reference!
Is it an MOD base, or a Mercedes-Benz dealership with all the Merc’s comings and going ? 😂🤣👍
Yeah they all robbed it from false war they were on
Love what you do but I think you could have laboured the point a bit more of him not complying with the STOP order, rather than let him admonish you about the speed limit of the road. He was not a nice officer, I concluded that due to his willingness to attempt to make you the bad driver.
Keep up the good work!

Who placed the stop sign there ?..its wee bit out of position should be at junction
See, now this officer needs a commendation medal. didn't press for information, didnt abuse his power, didnt give a shit about the camera and all round was a nice guy... this "turning the tables shit" is nonsense, AB stated 60, so the officer used it to his advantage in a comedy manor. You must be speeding if you have to swerve. Classic line .
I've got to say Mr Auditing Britain, you are a master of debate. lots of people would not have the patience or balls. In this regard, I respect you enormously, exposing the weakness of the British authorities seemingly contradictory laws.
The policeman ran a stop sign and caused an obscruction....
He had his hazard red light showing
John Davies it's a mod plod not regular police for starters. Second... he was not responding to an emergency. So he should have obeyed the stop sign regardless.
That "STOP" sign is for pedestrians because its too far away from the road for the drivers to take any notice of it Lol but yes the solid White line should still be adhered too ;-)

PC 1940, you must STOP at this junction. The stop sign is there. The stop line is there. Stop means STOP. You have commited a motoring offence. Now, sir, is this your vehicle? Give yourself a ticket, sir. 😄 And clean that unreadable rear number plate. Offence number 2. 😃
set of turds .God bless keep safe
And here I was assuming that British speed limits were posted in kilometers and not miles per hour, such as our neighbors to the north have done. I've traveled in Burma and the use of miles and feet warmed my heart. God bless the Imperial system.
When I first saw the sign at the beginning of this video it read Warmington, I immediately thought of Walmington-on-Sea, where that great British comedy, Dad's Army was situated, then out pops Captain Mainwaring with his hi vis jacket on, nice to know Arthur Lowe is doing well.
I think AB is the 1st person who purposely uses an apperent speach impediment/ stutter to reel out the 'hook' to these 'jobsworths' who overstep their authority but bite every time.
Quite entertaining.
Cop - "you thought it was a 60 zone" LOL, Upstanding gentleman should have said "you thought it was a GIVE WAY" lol, he tries to catch you out at speeding, yet you DID catch him committing an offense. well done mate, i do the same with speed cameras, park down the road and warn people, save heaps hundreds of $$, including NZ Police as it costs them to issue the infringements, and people slow down regardless, JOB DONE!

They’re starting to figure it out... ‘I don’t suppose you want to give me your details?’ - ‘No’ - ‘OK, thanks very much!’

That’s why you don’t answer questions. The second you make an error he’s all over you.
My dad was filth, always Told me not to speak to them.
Simon Morgan my dad was filth 😂😂😂 you sound a proud son
Tbh it doesn't matter if they stop or not... they go to a crawl and then look to see if anything's coming, if nothing is coming there is no need to stop. The 'stop' signs are there to stop people just pulling out with out looking, it doesn't mean you literally have to stop, if there's ample room to slow your vehicle right down and clearly see there is nothing coming and then speed back up, the fact they don't actually 'stop' is just a pedantic point. Nothing dangerous about that at all. In some junctions with less visibility it may be safer to come to a complete stop but you can see plenty without doing so here. This is just complaining for the sake of complaining about something, which this guy is incredibly adept at doing!
At stop sign you have to stop even if all clear. Trying to do you for speeding, what an £~€{*
