www.culttvmans... This is my final video about the updated and improved MPC Millennium Falcon model kit. I'll show my completed build and give my final thoughts.
In the first video we unboxed the updated and improved Millennium Falcon by MPC / Round2.
In our second video we build and light the model.
This video shows how I painted and weathered the kit.
This is the classic MPC 18 inch Falcon but with some big improvements by Round2. Lots of new tooling, lower sidewalls with vastly improved details, new Han and Chewie figures, and a better radar dish.

That's the kit we should've got from MPC back in the day. Absolutely wonderful job.
I'm sold. This is a nice direction by Round 2. For the price, I have zero complaints from what you've shown and nothing but compliments. Can you imagine this as shown back in 1979?!?
the Falcon is the best model to weather in the whole world, so easy to handle, strong model, nothing breaks on you........ the worse is the B17, it's a real nightmare with all its guns sticking out.
I think the weathering makes all the difference in the world with this kit. As you were weathering it the model was just coming alive. Great job.
What a cool build👍🏼, I like how you just made it your own rendition instead of trying to build a clone or a copy of the studio models.👏🏼
The lighting is well executed and since she's in gear down landing mode, perhaps you could encase the lighting wire inside some ribbed tubing and scratch build or 3D print some kind of fuel or power generator unit for a docking bay 94 diorama?👀
The fact that Round 2 addressed some of the details on this kit, mainly the side wall height issues that the original kit had, makes this updated version so much more a worthy display piece if one doesn't own the very expensive Fine Molds or the Bandai kits.💰
It gets boring hearing criticisms from other Falcon builders complaining that "this is wrong" or "it's the wrong color" or the repetitive "it's not screen accurate" and so on, who the heck cares.🤷🏼♂🤦🏼♂
Personal preference on the panel lining though, I prefer to apply a subtle less is more here and there approach or even completely skip that method completely, besides it's your model so build and paint her how you want.👨🏼🎨🎨

I build my ship in 1979 and won on a model contest. I used flat white spray paint and Acrylic paint mix water paint for the subfaces marking. never use glossy paint. weather it and put a clear sealer . if you want it to gloss a little buff it. Why because I applied for ILM in 1980 had to send sample work to them but couldn't relocated to CA. YES! am papi !!!

I bought the original kit back in late'80s I think.
It was my very first model kit but even so it was clear to me I would have needed a airbrush to paint it properly.
I didn't have it (still haven't it) so I proceeded to build the model without any painting whatsoever.
For decades I thought it couldn't be painted anymore since it was completely assembled (and some parts are pretty hard to reach now).
Recently I asked myself:"Maybe it can be painted somehow..." and so I landed here and watched your videos and to my great surprise, you painted it after the assembly.
Do you think even an inexperienced modelist like me could give it a try? Is it possible to skip the airbrush part and use the grey plastic of the model as a base for the panel lining, weathering, etc?

You perhaps could have used the wash issue underneath the decals as laser blasts... but she looks good.
What do you spray onto the panels before applying salt for the chipping effect?

It should be shipping to US based hobby suppliers by the end of July to first week of August. After that, expect it on shop shelves by mid August.
I'm working on it right now. Pretty much regretting it at this point. The Fit of the Cockpit pieces for example is atrocious. Mine was completely flashed all over the place, not little flash thick flash.
I don't remember anything in Star Wars having panel lines that pronounced.
@@AlphaTrion92 I've never had an issue with either Bandai or FM. This MPC is 1/78 though, which for me is a no-go.
So much time goes into getting the paint right, but no thought is given for the lighting. 😢
Black wash everywhere, ILM never did any washes on their Falcon

It's currently over £100 here in the UK, which is about $128.....too expensive at that price!

Liked the build. The kit? Meh. They could've done more. The panel line decals are pretty laughable.
