I think this is why most service manuals only suggest setting to 90-95% modulation…..I’m not a wizard but I’m a believer in headroom and know trying to get every last watt is pointless…..I’ve seen radios set conservatively out talk (more RANGE) than radios set up at twice the power…..it doesn’t do any good to run a device against its limit but the world of radio is full of tales saying it’s the way you must do it….to each his own
Generally speaking when you set the modulation with a test tone it will always be higher with voice. So setting it for 95% will probably get you around 100% with voice.. Going over 100% isn't really necessary but a lot of guys want that for bragging rights I guess.
😀 Nice. Good to know. 73.
Nice video.
Wonder if you’re seeing that flattening out within the pep 4x carrier 100% modulation?
Depends on the radio.
