Not to make hate or anything, but my Mom had to have weight loss surgery because she couldn't lose the weight. She didn't eat a lot or anything, but her body couldn't digest all the food right. The weight loss surgery helped her a lot, and she's doing a lot better now!
Point is, although I do see your point with it not making sense to you, some people do need it more than others. It's not always because they have bad habits sometimes it's just for other medical reasons.

Also, weight loss surgery is not an end all be all total cop out for weight loss!! It's only a tool. I do NOT like this dhar man video. It makes people who get surgery look lazy and like they are giving up or that it is the holy grail of losing weight. I went through it. It's not a cop out at all!! You use it to help you build the lifestyle and habits you need. Plus she would not be able to eat all that if it was real bariatric surgery. Rice is horrible and anything with breading also. It hurts!! Especially only a year out

No, just eat less. The surgery just reduces your food and caloric intake. You can do that without the surgery. This is like removing an eye to stop tv addiction.

Hi, yes, Bijuu- about the habits thing. That's why most weight-loss doctors set a big goal for their patient to lose first before they're approved for the surgery. They need to know that their patient will be determined about this new life style, ESPECIALLY right after the surgery as it can harm them to eat anything.
As for why, there are a number of reasons why someone needs to get the surgery ( not to be confused with wants to)
Well said, i'm trying to help people understand it's necessarily "laziness" but some people are in wheel chairs, some people just cant lose it no matter what, sometimes its due to a medication that you can't switch out for anything else, theres a lot to it-also off topic but i love your pfp!

the reason is because not all people gain weight from food
some gain it from disability or they get to a specific number of weight loss and stops right there no matter how much they eat they can't progress anymore, most of my family are like this
Starvation is the slow and painful(cheap) way to fix that problem, you basically have to make your body go through hell and back and force it to use up that kind of fat.
The weight loss surgery could also be for medical reasons because over weight can cause medical problems and if she was actually going to the gym then she could burn off the calories she was eating and maintain her weight. Plus some people can’t lose fat from just “good habits”

If you have fat in a spot for long enough it won't go away because the process in your body that uses fat for energy doesn't work with it anymore, so weight loss surgery is something you need to do to get rid of it if you've had it too long
Actually your body will processes that long time sitting fat very quickly but in very specific situations for example if you couldn't eat anything at all for at least three days and were on constant slow movement like walking.
Wrong. The surgery gets rid of it by reducing calories, just reduce calories its that simple. Intermittent fasting, no sugars or bread, it's not hard.

I have many questions on how this is possible, first off how do they force the patient to accept when they already aren't paying the bills? Secondly in weight loss surgeries, they typically remove the excess skin, so wouldn't all the fat not fit back in their new body?

Weight loss isn't as simple as working out and eating healthy, bodies are a lot more complicated and the surgeries don't even help everyone. Weight loss is a tough thing. It's good not to underestimate it or claim it's easy. (Even if it might be easy for one person, it's probably really hard for another.) (Also there's lots of medication that cause weight gain which makes it even harder to lose weight.)
