This video is breathtaking, John. Scotland is gorgeous and I love how you shot and narrated this one. What a spectacular, historical place.
Much appreciated and thanks for taking the time to comment! Many thanks 😊
I just love Scotland
And I love the people 🇺🇸
Yes if I could I would move to Scotland it's beautiful the history and just the land. Greeting from Canada
Oh John…..that was amazing, incredible and breathtakingly beautiful! I literally had goosebumps the whole time you were recounting the history of the castle and surroundings. Your country is Absolutely Gorgeous! A lot of my maternal relatives, back a few generations, came here to Ontario Canada to settle and grow a new life. That must be why I feel so comfortable and happy when I watch your shows! I’d love to go there to absorb and enjoy the history and beauty Of Scotland. Thanks again for what you do.
Much appreciated Lu and thanks for the kind words and for taking the time to message! Much appreciated
Alright John I adore that fact that William Wallace and king Robert the Bruce fought at loudon hill in Darvel.. .legends
Amen 🙏
Being in the U.S.A, it's just amazing how much history there is over there. Thank you for showing us and the history lesson.
Just in case anyone has missed it, when he is talking about how beautiful Scotland is at 8:54, as he pans around a fish jumps out of the water. Perfect timing.
😊 Oh. My. John, you have the Heart of a Poet. Wonderfully done!
Aww thanks 😊 glad you enjoyed
John, thank you taking us on this tour of a spectacular Scottish countryside and the historic Kinclaven Castle in Perthshire. How sad that this castle did not survive its storied past. I’m always in awe of the beauty of Scotland and its rich and long history. Thank you for this amazing virtual tour. You do a wonderful job explaining the history.
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks for the kind words. Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
Is it in Perthshire? I might visit it, moving back to Perth from Edinburgh is too bloody expensive here love the city but yeah had enough of life here.
Absolutely speechless. Spirits haunting that place over so many centuries. To be able to travel back in time and to see this would be a dream. Thankyou.
I can absolutely imagine taking that beautiful trek through the woods and coming upon the castle hiding from today's ills! I would love to have a picnic inside its walls and drink a toast to the spirits of all of those that called it home!
It is gorgeous. If the water had not been moving the views could have been a masterful landscape painting. So quiet you can hear whispers of the past. So much history happened on this very site. Is the stone used to build it local? It must have been well built for the walls to survive as they have. Great photography on a lovely fall day. Feel like I hiked right beside you. Thank you, John. So looking forward to more of these virtual tours.
Thanks for the kind words Molly and I’m so glad you enjoyed! Thanks for hiking along with me!!
Today the castle is a hidden gem in the woods. The history of the many people who possessed this castle is amazing. John , I think you where born in the wrong century because of your love of the history and beauty of Scotland. Fall in Scotland is absolutely breathtaking. Thank you for the tour of this amazing place. Anxiously awaiting your next tour!!!
So beautiful!
A watercolorists dream! So many colors, so many textures!
Thank you for the tour, yes, I very much enjoyed it!!!
🙏
Thank you so much! Glad you could tour with me!
Beautiful! I am a Wallace by birth. My ancestry shows I am over 40% Scottish descent.
Wonderful… so you are at least 40% amazing 🤩
Personally, what is blowing me away, is how I connect this place and the people who were there with the coins you find in the fields of Perthshire. Thanks for the tour John. I bet you wish you could time travel and see all the history you know so well in real time.
William Wallace sounds like a very angry man, no prisoners or survivors! 😮
A Scottish hero but not someone you would take home to meet your mother.
John I just subscribed to this channel. I came from your other UA-cam channel. Great job on the historical analysis!
Oh, wow. ... just Wowww... Thanks so very much. Shaking my head. Profound. Did I say, 'Thank you, John'? Spectacular. Ab-so-lutely gorgeous, indeed.
Thanks so much! Glad you enjoyed and see you on the next!!
Excellent, so much of our history is hidden away in quiet corners and forgotten ruins. Always worth shining a light on what is lurking off the beaten track.
You need your own TV 📺 show mate! The Scottish Alice Roberts!
Can not get enough of your videos mate👌🏻👏👏👏
Love watching from Japan 🇯🇵
Many thanks. I’m glad you enjoyed! Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
@@visitscotlandtours1 I am really enjoyed to watched your beautiful country. Thank you and Good morning. Shout from here 🇯🇵❤️❤️

What fascinating history, and gorgeous scenery! Wouldn't it be interesting to see (even an ancient) drawing of what this amazing, historic Castle looked like in its Heyday?
Yes I’d love to see a digital recreation! One day maybe
Loved this so much. My mother in law was a Wallace from Scotland. She moved to Canada as a teen but I did a deep dive on her genealogy. Her mother's family were Grant's and father's family was Hogg from Ross and Cromarty. Such interesting history in Scotland. Mother was named Hogg Wallace. Thank you !
Many thanks I’m glad you enjoyed
Your love of your history is filled with poetry and deep respect and appreciation of the beauty of Scotland's paradigm. The dream that is Scotland. You can feel the legends of honor and character and love of the land. Its a fantasy. A parallel soul dimension.
This is truly amazing to see the remains of the castle still standing after almost a thousand years. I was wondering if there is any way to see a recreation of what the castle originally looked like? Sounds like large groups of people could stay there. It would be interesting to see such things as what the rooms may have looked and everything else.
An AI recreation!
That would be something to see!
Absolutely stunning indeed! Your narration brings it to life as always. You are so fortunate to live in such a place. I need to find out why my ancestors left there so long ago. I'm afraid if I (finally) get there i won't want to leave. Fantastic virtual tour!
Thank you so much! Many thanks. Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
Beautiful Perthshire. As you were walking around the castle I could imagine the people in there, almost as if they were fleeting past you. Fascinating history as always. Thank you
Good morning, John. Donald Wilson (5th generation Scottish American), here in Tacoma, Washington, on a rather dark Monday morning, November 20. I'm enjoying my morning coffee watching your video on the Mercer Estate and the River Tay. Absolutely beautiful, thank you so very much. It's a perfect way to start my work day. My family, the Wilson's, come from West Lothian, in particular, Fife, Bathgate, and Dunfermline. The other family names are Stirling, Beveridge, and Andrew's. I really appreciate you and the wonderful videos you share. Kindest regards, Donald William Wilson.
I really appreciate how you pan the view slowly so I can see the details of the picture. So many people go so fast, it literally makes me dizzy. Thank you for not doing that!
You are so welcome! Thank you for the feedback, it helps when I am planning future videos
Well i know what i will be doing tonight, i will be binge watching this channel i just love history and this channel suits me to a tee.
I’ve always been fascinated by William Wallace, and history surrounding him. Thanks for the video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Many thanks. Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
Beautiful! I enjoyed your narrative. History is my thing.
Glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully see you on the next video Becky! Thanks 😊
One of my husband's ancestors, John McGregor, was from Kinclaven. I love all your videos and the fact you weave history into each one. Keep them coming! As a genealogist, and a Scottish "everything" enthusiast, I watch for them...especially your medal detecting ones.
Hopefully more coming very soon ☺️
I'm so glad I stumbled onto your videos!! I'm so looking forward to more! You do an amazing job sharing the beauty of the sites, along with the history! I live in Loveland Colorado, USA. @@visitscotlandtours1 Can anyone fish for salmon on the banks of the Tey or is it controlled? It looked amazing.
Thank you, John, for the wonderful tour. I can watch and imagine the castle intact as you describe it. There are many wonderful tours you have taken us on, but this one is by far the most interesting, as well as the most beautiful, in my opinion. Will be waiting for the next destination. Cheers from Texas.
Thanks David. So glad you enjoyed and thanks for taking the time to comment!!
Thank you John. As a New Yorker I’m a lover of all things Scottish. This is a lovely video. I also love your metal finding missions as well. You have a wonderful and perfect accent. Keep up the great work.
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for the continued support! Best wishes
The natural beauty just leaves me speechless. Add in the historical aspect and I found my Nirvana! Thank you!
You're always so knowledgeable with history, and I love listening to it. Thank you for the lovely tour! 😊
What a stunning place again, especially in its autumn finery! 🍁🍂🍁 It's hard to believe, that a place with such a rich history just lies hidden in the woods, instead of being a tourist magnet. But then again, this way it's much more atmospheric and mysterious. And that beech hedge was *impressive*!
Many thanks I’m
Glad you enjoyed. It’s a real hidden gem and because it’s off the beaten track and hard to get to it always will be!
Mesmerising story of events going
1000 years back. If you visit Scotland,
One thing is very important. The
Weather forecast for the next week!
To Cycle can not be an option. That
Would be very dangerous👀💀😜🔝❤️
Lovely scenery in the right tempo
Thankey!
Thanks John, Terrific Tour, Hope all is Well ,Indiana.
Thanks, you too! Best wishes Indiana
Absolutely amazing John. Spectacular bridge over the spectacular river Tay. Beautiful trees and countryside.
Many thanks Gary. So beautiful isn’t it
Absolutely gorgeous. I was completely riveted to the history of this castle. Thanks for the tour and I will definitely be watching again.
Glad you enjoyed it, keep watching, lots more coming soon.
Thanks!
Aww thanks so much, that’s so kind of you !!! Thanks 😊
I have Scottish ancestors on both sides, Andrew is the surname of my Dad's side. My Great grandfather on my Mum's side is from Shetland. I live in New Zealand, Andrew side came here 1842, 2 years after the treaty was signed. I enjoyed this immensely. Thank you.
You are welcome, They say New Zealand is very similar to Scotland, hopefully one day I will come and see
@@visitscotlandtours1 yes the Scottish felt at home, the South Island is stunning. Auckland, North Island has 53 volcanoes and our biggest city. Yeah it's not going to be a pretty sight when we have the next eruption, and we've become complacent. Yikes 😬
Thank you for these wonderful tours and history lessons! 😀
Thank you so much! What a perfect day for a walk.
Glad you enjoyed it Catherine
My wife is a descendant of the Wallace clan. As I watched your video I was following along on Google maps to see where you were. Awesome video and history.
What a great idea ☺️
Simply stunning. Thank you for sharing this beautiful video.
Glad you enjoyed it Brenda.
Stunning, thank you so much for showing us this, my heart was in my throat as you walked up the road and all those cars were just flying passed you!!! Thank you for being so brave to do that so we can see this but be careful!
Just gorgeous. A wonderful tour John, thank you!😊
Glad you enjoyed it Maureen, see you on the next!!

I've dreamed of coming to Scotland all my life. Your videos are providing me with a list of historical sites I want to visit.
John ..there’s one thing your a fantastic story teller … I was totally engrossed by your story and knowledge of this fabulous castle ..and the surrounding landscape is beautiful ..even more so with the changing of the season… Autumn with the different shades of browns is a magical time of the year ..
me being a English man is so glad I never had the misfortune of meeting the historical William Wallace .. I’m sure he would of had my head for breakfast …🫣
Once again thank you John for sharing this wonderful story and enchanting castle …
Thanks for the kind words Chris and I’m so glad you enjoyed! See you on the next!! Thanks again
Another, brilliant video, keep them coming,
Thanks, will do! And definitely more to come
My maternal Great-grandparents were Scottish & I grew up with my bff's Scottish parents who migrated to USA in '51 & she was born a year later. I identify myself with my heritage (even played snare drum in a pipe Band) & my children do so as well.
I cannot get enough of these wonderful visual archaeological treks !
Looking forward for more of your vlogs!
John... you are a fantastic tour guide! This video was absolutely stunning. Your calming voice and knowledge of history is amazing. I know I have gushed about your tours before, but every word is true! Thank you for taking us on this historic journey in beautiful Perthshire! I'll keep watching!
So beautiful, thank you for sharing. Growing up in Canada all of my Grandparents were from Scotland. Long gone now but dearly missed. Im sure youve heard it a million times but, its so comforting to hear that old familiar accent for so many of us over here.
My family has been in America since the mid 1800s but this video really brings me back to my heritage. Spent some time in Scotland in 2004 and was hard to leave. I just discovered your channel. SUBSCRIBED!
Loved every minute of this video, fantastic insight into history and William Wallace. What a beautiful castle it is as well what remains, definitely one I’d love to visit one day
Stunning scenery! That castle ruin is really well hidden away but well worth the visit!
It really is! It’s a beautiful place and I’m the autumn it’s just 🤩
Wow beyond stunning. Thank you so much ❤😊
My pleasure 😊
Amazingly beautiful. I’d love to have seen it it all it’s charm back in the day. Hard to imagine 😮
You and me both! It’s beautiful and the colours just now wow 🤩 🍂
This place is so enormous and beautiful! I have been in various castles in different countries, but none as beautiful as this one. The grounds and area are magnificent. Thank you for the story. Movies always embellish the truth.
John! What secrets Scotland has kept hidden from us! Stunningly beautiful in its winter colours, definitely THE best time to visit. Thank you for putting us right about Mel Gibson😂, I, like many others fell in love with the story of William Wallace star of silver screen, to hear the truth from you, was pretty hard, sometimes I hate being English, we were such a cruel Nation back then, and I believe we still are in one way or another. Another fabulous video, you are a born history teller, thank you. A beautiful place! 😘😘Chez
Many thanks Chez. Those were the days and that’s what you did back then I suppose! Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
"Hate being English"??? The Scots regularly used to raid the North of England taking back slaves (mostly women and Children) and booty for centuries. Until the Northern English beat an invading Scottish Army at the battle of the Standards in 1138. Both sides committed atrocities. Most English back then were just as oppressed as Scots, by the Norman rulers like Edward the 1st, Longshanks.
John, I have traced my family history to Fernihurst Castle. As far as I know it is still in the family. It was built by Kerr family. There were 2 brothers, one spelled his name Ker, the other Kerr, which is the one we are descended from. The Kerr's when they went to england they changed the spelling to Carr. My Grandmother, on my Mom's side was Bertha Bell Carr.
I also have Irish, Dutch and Native American Blood in my veins.
Great job, John. Well worth the watch 👍🏻
Beautiful Scotland and wonderful history! It just can't get much better than this! You always deliver the best Young Man!
I am fascinated by Sir William Wallace so this was a real treat, John. Quite the trek to get there but so worth it! Also, in America we still use the term “Sally port” mostly for police stations and the private entrance at the back of their precincts.
I've always been fascinated with Scotlands beauty and history...thank you for the videos....I do plan to visit Scotland one of these days 😊
Go for it Michelle, start planning ☺️
OUTSTANDING! I accidently came across this video doing research and I was instantly thrilled at this. I subbed immediately! Thank you so much, funny just 2 days ago I had rewatched Braveheart and have been looking for more information. I have been able to trace my family back to the mid 1200's to Scotland then forward through Bristol England. My DNA said I was Scottish and English with a trace of Irish and that was all. I felt as if I was looking at for the first time my original homeland! Thank you again for this, I truly hope to see more. I wish you had gotton closer to the original stones with the camera, I dont know why but seeing them here truly was heartfelt....I so love Scotland!
Loved this , we do have a beautiful country don’t we . Your voice is perfect for this , the way you narrate brings it to life so much . Thank you.
Thank John for another wonderful video the beauty of Perthshire is stunning I hadn't heard of this castle and it's connection to William Wallace a truly fascinating fact filled story looking forward to the next one.
Many thanks Douglas. Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed

So beautiful...I came to Scotland for the first time 9 years ago now. Had a great time. So much to see. Promised I would be back someday. This definitely makes me yearn to return now. I was there in the Spring. I love Autumn though and I believe I will return this time during the beginning of Autumn. Lovely video...just came across your channel today. Glad 8 did. Thank you John for giving a grande tour. Many blessings to you and your family. Can't wait to return, very soon.
Spring is my favourite time of year but the colours in autumn are definitely a must when you next come to visit.

Fantastic, while you are saving I will try my best to give you lots of ideas of the best places to visit.
Brilliant John, thanks for sharing 👍
Very welcome David
Scotland i found to be a beautiful country and the people just delightful. I was there when queen Elizabeth passed, may she rest in peace. Great video
That was amazing! I noticed on Google maps that it isn’t noted and on Wikipedia it is “unknown “ if it is open to the public. It certainly is an important site! Thanks!
Many thanks. It’s on private land however under the ‘right to roam’ it can be visited with care. Hope to see you on the next virtual tour
I didn’t know of this castle. What an amazing setting for it! Thank you for giving us a tour and the history behind it.
John, just fantastic!! Keep them coming. Does Sir Wallace have a buriel sight? In the movie Robert the Bruce's father conspired to turn the other clan against him, is there any truth to that?
I am so glad that you filmed the beautiful colours of fall in Perthshire, John. It's like looking at a living postcard!
Beautiful trees. Gorgeous bridge and river❤️
Great history John! Thanks for posting this!
My mother and father visited Scotland a year or so before dad passed away. He was always proud of his Scottish heritage. He was born with the surname Muirhead but when his parents died was adopted by his aunt and uncle with the surname Barr.
Scotland was a bucket list for him.
I really enjoyed this edited version from your earlier TikTok video. Less 🤠 hat badges 😂 Thanks again for sharing this amazing site!
