    Wow, I was wondering just yesterday about cutting the bottom off a cup to have a variation on the cookie cutter method. It definitely gives a little more control, with little waste. Plus, it is easy to observe how the pool of colors lay inside for tipping. Slide, tip, slide, tip. Wonderful technique I will surely try. Thanks. That piece was awesome!

      Kristin Oladatter Steen tomorrow afternoon I will be trying the nebula that I had started months ago then stopped .....it was way too busy with too many colours, the hair dryer didn’t work well for me, the garden air blower was too strong ...I painted over a lot with black, splattered stars, so I will now be using pouring medium with blue gold and pearl shimmer pigments to go over some black and go completely over the rest with new colours using the airbrush to blend and push around the colours.....so I hope it works ! I will post a pic tomorrow night 😁😁 xoxo

    Hi. I was wondering if you tell me what I’m doing wrong with my metallics. Every time I use them they disappear under the other paints. Could you give a tip on how to keep them out ? Thanks and your pour is absolutely stunning

    • @KristinOSteen
      @KristinOSteen  5 років тому

      Hello Mickey and Thank you! Hmmm, my experience is that the METALLICS tends to take over the pour. So if I use other Colors as well I try to stick to just one metallic. Specially the gold can be overwhelming. I only tried metallics from FolkArt though, so I dont know if other reacts different. And one thing I also noticed is that these Colors is better When you dont add any water to the mix

    • @mickeycecil5422

      Thanks so much. One more question. When I use any kind of silicone my canvases attend to have sports where the paint goes away. Any suggestions for that?

    • @KristinOSteen
      @KristinOSteen  5 років тому +1

      Mickey Cecil When you’re working with silicone you need to have a base on your canvas without any silicone in it. If the silicone hits the canvas first that can happen as you describe

  • @suefalls1600

      Thank you Sue! That depends..I love the pictures of the red nebulas, But I would choose the same Colors as I used in my LARGE nebula I did with heat gun; dark blue, TURQUIOSE blue, magenta and purple, in various shades of all colors

    • @suzetteconte7821
      @suzetteconte7821 6 років тому

      @@KristinOSteen You place the needle into the excess paint and draw the plunger until you receive desired effect.
      A #19 needle is quite large so it has no problem in the paint.
      Also, there is an artists syringe, but it is much more expensive.

    I love watching you pour.... I think you could pour dirt and I would be mesmerised... I know you probably get asked a million times and you've probably answered it a million times but I am new to your videos and would it be too impolite to ask how you mix your paints? And to what consistency? I think I really enjoy doing straight pours also and I know there's a consistency difference between flip cupping and straight pouring. Could you please share your consistencies with me? I would be eternally grateful... Thank you ever so kindly and thanks for sharing with all of us...

    • @KristinOSteen
      @KristinOSteen  6 років тому +1

      First of all Thank you so much Carol! And welcome to the channel as well! I hope to inspire you😃 My mixing.... I never measure or weigh anything. My rule is to always have at least the same amount Floetrol to paint. Mostly I even have two parts Floetrol to one part paint. And depending on what teqnique I will be using I add water till the consistence I want for that Painting. In a straight pour I would recommend a bit thinner mix. Specially if you want cells in your paintings. If you watch Gina DeLucas channel you’ll see a lot of great straight pours with cells without using any silicone. How you mix will also differ from the brands you are using. Some needs more medium, others less. So this is really try and test till you find whats best for you. I wish you all luck in your pouring! Just have fun!💕

    • @sedge6591
      @sedge6591 5 років тому

      @@KristinOSteen Loved this, would have given it 5 thumbs up if possible. But your directions are tortured. In the desc it just says "2 parts Floetrol" and nothing about paint. Here you say you "never measure or weigh anything" yet your "rule" is "always" equal Floetrol to paint and then 2:1!!

    It turned out really beautiful. I would just like to ask if you put anything in your paint to be able to create those lovely 'cells'. • @KristinOSteen
      @KristinOSteen  6 років тому

      Thank you Sherry! Well, I dont work with silicone very often. My cells comes from the the Floetrol mix ( Floetrol does produce cells) and some Colors that are really good cell makers. Also, a thinner mix will help..with slow tilting
