An inspiring Claffey assemblage. All the wonderful solos don’t exist in a vacuum without being inspired by the rhythm section, creating the canvas for and prompting creativity. 💪🏼👏🏼
I like the way the guitar player listens and brings in the other players and makes what everyone playing a part of the whole. To me, that is the best way. Listening, thinking, playing, awesome
quelle rythmique alexander + jimmy i love you guys !!!!! un jour je viendrai a new york je le jure et je passe tout mon sejour au chris jazz cafe !!!!!
Incredible playing by all for real 🔥 ❤ Could be a bit sadder though lol , no one here sounds like they are lamenting😮😂 everyone is having such a good time. ✨️ Still subscribed 🙏
@effsixteenblock50 why? It's obvious, that he is Inspired by Rosenwinkel. He invented this kind of playing, but c'mon: Give me your'e in depth Analysis about his playing... It's not as complicated as you think, man 😂🤦
1:17 nice buildup and interplay between piano and guitar, then the two instruments comping clash at 1:48, so guitar yields … Just an observation I find Interesting. Otherwise, a great guitar solo!
Ever wondered why jazz audiences have disappeared? Listen to this for an explanation. Stop being impressed by technical skills and complexity. It’s meaningless to 99.99% of the population and only improvisation students are impressed. Not entertained….impressed.
No. I hear plenty of tradition and the only thing missing is that the drummer was obligated to keep the intensity to a minimum so as not to alienate the largely monied audience. "Technical skills and complexity"? No more than you'd hear from the greats of the '60s. If you channel your inner-Elvin in an environment like this, you jeopardize the necessary cash-flow required to keep this place open. That band is more than capable of burning that joint to the ground.
We’re obviously listening to two different pieces of music. You think the drummer is restrained/holding back. I think the entire band is over playing and over busy (maybe not the bass). Ultimately the public decide and this kind of music will just end up being played to college music undergraduates and hardly anyone else I believe. @@effsixteenblock50
@jazzman1954 Thank goodness someone from the .01% of discerning listeners who can appreciate these artists' skills showed up in the YT comments to let us know they were impressed but not entertained. Now we all know the correct take.
@ I bow to your infinite superiority and sophistication. Only you know how to assess music. Only your opinion counts. Only you decide what does and does not make music worth listening to. Or maybe not.
@jazzman1954 I am not claiming any superior knowledge, you were saying only people with extremely trained musical background can appreciate this and I disagree. The idea that only the few can assess or enjoy this music is coming from your original comment. I don't think jazz audiences are disappearing for the reason that some people can play their butts off, that's for sure!
@@mattdelany6799 Weight doesn't contribute to sustain. One of my guitars is a 6 lb strat that as has as much sustain as any LP and is actually louder acoustically than any electric I've played. There's a ton of factors that contribute to a guitar's ability to sustain.
@ Wrong. Density of wood is the key. If you are just using single coils in your strat, that’s laughable. Maple is harder than ash or alder. Just like drums. Maple is harder than birch, so it sustains longer. Come plug in one of my 6 100 watt full stacks, and realize you are just wrong. You don’t even own a les Paul. I own 3, plus a strat, plus 2 sg’s, plus a 335, plus a tele, plus a Howard Roberts fusion. Without some sort of boost pedal, strats are just weak, and headless guitars are silly.
yes, great band!
Smokin! And life is good when you have recordings of this quality coming out of Chris's. Nice.
Piano player is fantastic!!
Great combo...WOW! That Guitar Player is Killing!!!
First tune of the night!!
Feels like heaven to me 🙌🏿

Which kind of membership I have to pay to watch this entire livestream?
Standard Tier
Rosenwinkel 2.0?
Way to listen superficially.

It's a cute guitar. It has no head.
He’s playing the head ..
Yotam is the closest sounding to Peter Bernstein I've heard. Superb phrasing and tone.
They are not alike🤦♂️
what?! noooo
What?
He sounds like Rosenwinkel a lot here with that effect and his way of phrasing. Where do you hear Bernstein?

Kenny garrett version for me is Better…
not a competition man, enjoy the music
Get a Les Paul. Headless guitars are silly.
I had a Les Paul...it weighed 13 lbs.
@ and it sustains forever. Are you are frail, 87 year old?

What is wrong with piano guy... No ears for yotam... Gd
Who makes Yotam's guitar?
Very similar to a Soulezza guitar.
