I Was born & raised in New Haven For the 1st 19yr of my life. I was spoiled to have amazing pizza (Modern's Still #1 to me) & didn't realize it. I have been to the original Lombardi & was quite impressed, I believe it was the closest to New Haven style pie I ever had. It's great pizza in my opinion compared to New Haven.
Now at 47 yrs old, I make my own coal/wood fired pizza that took me about 10yrs to perfect. I realized after moving out of New Haven (to Wallingford, Meriden & Windsor Locks) that pizza pretty much sucked everywhere I went. Also note, Dave went to Little Rendezvous in Meriden. I went there several times while living in Meriden, while it was the best in Meriden, it was "meehhh", so that 9+ score he gave them made me lose respect for the man as a pizza review guy lol. I have been to Moderns, Pepe's (original spot), Sally's, Bar's, Grand Apizza, Palm Beach (They closed in late 90's after being in business for almost 50yrs), & sooo many more. So yes, I have a high standard for pizza 🍕. I even had better pizza in Miami than Little Rendezvous, a place called Block Pizza. It made all their dough with an almost 100yr old starter dough that eas passed down for generations in the family.
So moving out of New Haven was the best thing that happened to me lol, it forced me to learn how to make a mean pie! 😄 My 17 yr old step son's ex girlfriend last year finally had New Haven pizza, Moderns. When my wife asked her so what you think?... She says, it's good, it reminds me of Henry's pizza (me). 😄.. I told her, ok, you may marry him 😂.

I dont think its that the two girls didnt trust him. Its just that they dont have any encounters or conversations with anyone other than their black friends from whatever school they go to. We may all be americans but the way we talk, walk, act and the culture is so different. They just stepped outside of their little inner city bubble for the first time being in this vid with Dave and tried something new from the real world, probably the first time they've even had real pizza too. I know this because i went to school with kids like this that had never heard tried anything outside of mcdonalds or never been to a club/bar that wasn't completely black so they just seem off when talking to someone that doesn't look like them. That's really all this was.
