I worked in Bavaro's Nepoletana and they started booking musicians to draw in more business on Mondays and Tuesdays. I observed a young man in mid 30s playing all Clasical very well, think I heard Recuerdo de Al Hambra. I told the Mgr and then the owner Dan B. to BOOK THAT GUY EVERY CHANCE; SETS THE AMBIANCE/ ATMOSPHERE PERFETO!
I was just thinking the same thing. She was in concert 3 years ago at Xavier U where I graduated from. Nearest concert on her tour is 4 hours away. Maybe she will be closer to Cincinnati next year. Meantime we are lucky to have these recordings.

Unless you have tried to play guitar you can't appreciate the work it takes to get to this level of proficiency. There are some other videos of Anna explaining some things to a student. The depth of her knowledge of music, theory, timing, and dynamics, is beyond what the average a guitarist would ever achieve. I am in awe.
I spend months even a year working on a single karate punch. And your right I have no comprehension of that guitar work. So glad I can enjoy that mastery.
After playing fingerstyle for many years, I took a year of classical from a local PHD in guitar performance. I learned so much. In fact I learned that there is so much to learn that I will never achieve. She is phenomenal.
Your playing sings, rings, is clear in all its parts, pauses, whispers, dialogs, speaks a message within a message, tells a story, dances, takes you places you didn’t expect to go, is as changeable as the phases of the moon, the fluxulations of a storm, the guiding of a sailboat along the crests of waves, of gazing over a broad vista, and rambles along the twists of an intricate tale. Various textures are woven within the melodies, rhythms and harmonies of the song that you weave. You sing your heart, soul and spirit with your hands! Thank you.
I happened upon this video a short while ago and even though I must have undoubtedly heard classical guitar before this, I never new it could be so enjoyable ! Moreover, I never thought "wordless" music (instrumentals) could evoke such feeling ! Since taking notice of this phenom, I've listened to several classical guitarists play renditions of Ana's musical selections. I prefer Ana's musical interpretation every time, and her unique sound is easily recognizable in a blind test. To say this young lady is gifted would belay the fact of some extremely hard work and dedication in the perfection of her craft. Here's to acknowledging her devotion to her art and wishing her all the success and happiness that she richly deserves.

Thanks for Expanding the repertoire that the public get to hear. So often classical performers seem to select from a shrinking list of familiar pieces, while the selection of modern works seem to be calculated to appeal to an audience more accustomed to the sounds of a factory-under construction or a hotly contested battlefield. Ms. Vidovic presents compositions that fulfill a wide range of melodic and tonal subtleties, without requiring the audience to abandon their love for Western Tonality! YAY!!!! er, I mean, "¡Bravo!"

By the Way, several of the pieces are by * Federico Moreno Torroba*, who lived until 1982. So his later compositions fall clearly in the modern era. Years after Andrés Segovia met him about 1918 -- about the time of some his earliest well-known works -- Segovia commented that Torroba was a *rarity* -- someone who could compose a fine piece for the guitar without actually being a guitarist himself.

What amazes and pleases me so much--to say nothing of my appreciative awe--is that you not only play the phrases as if you were a singer but also as is if you were dancing. You, as a dancer, bring everything to a piece: not only the song but the purely human drama that only dance can make the listener feel the saudade, the pathos--that they are participating. There are no passive listeners when you play.

Sorry, if it hurts your feelings, your excellence, but in my mind I like to distinguish between women and men when I compare their performances. (I cannot say Mr or Mrs because it would most likely be male chauvinism.) Even in the Olympic Games women and men compete separately. We are different, having been created for women and man, and as such, we have different biological and emotional buildup. Top man athletic results exceed those of top women, while women are generally better at caring professions, and some other aspects. Guitar playing is a complex subject, in a way it is much like athletics, but also there is a huge emotional factor. It needs virtuosity (speed and dexterity), stamina, courage, determination and a lot of feel. As in all performing arts, other factors, such as beauty, extravagance, psychological buildup and so on also count. In some aspects women are generally better, in some others usually men excel. I don't like to compare female and men guitarists because I think it would be unfair to them. They show their best abilities in different areas. How could you compare gentleness with virtuosity, or confidence with humbleness? Or just think about opera singers. How could you compare Pavarotti with Callas? Among singers, the difference in biological buildup is more obvious, but even in guitar playing, it plays an important role. You want equal judgement, clearly, but like it or not, the appearance (beauty), dress or acting of the guitar player and other subjective factors greatly influence the audience of a performance, or even the jury at a competition. In this field women clearly have an advantage. Virtuosity and great speed can also blindfold an audience or have an effect on a jury, and in this area men are usually better. I wish I could hear her great performances more recent. I love the way her musical choices and style is progressing. I couldnt wish for anything more. The best ever nowadays.
This video was made about 10 years ago. She's even significantly better now from what I heard of her live in concert. More refined and even more effortless seeming.
Not only is Ana beautiful,!she is a magnificent guitarist whose dexterity and musicality defies description I could listen to her for hours,in fact I do!!you simply cannot have a bad day in the company of this graceful extraterestial being of light.
I have watched several of her concert videos and she is by far the most incredible classical guitar player today. She has a connection to the instrument that is on a spiritual level. I find it best to listen to her playing rather than watching her play. It provides an ambience that is almost euphoric. Her love of the instrument radiates through her music. Simply beautiful.
I concur. Been listening since she was a child. There are 50-60 touring players in the top tier with her but there is something much more musical about Ana. She has an uncanny ability to subtly separate voicings and sound like there are two or three players in call and response and it seems effortless. Plus she has an incredibly even and accurate tremolo - one of the best if not the best. Close your eyes and listen to her play traditional repertoire back to back with anyone past or present and it’s often like hearing the piece for the first time. I just wish she would record more concert and studio.
She said she had to be taught the correct way to express herself and re-learn how to play guitar, she said she started wrong-she over-corrected to the point I listen and choke up with tears and a passion beyond control trying to grasp for each note before it fades away.

Ana Vidovic has such a clarity and mastery of technique, my only regret is that I did not discover this great artist sooner.

AnaのAsturiasもいいですね。もう何度きいたか分かりません。他の演奏者と比べるとすこしテンポを控えめに弾いている様に聞こえますが、指板上で踊る指に硬さがみられません。指が滑らかに無理なく移動しています。指がしなやかで美しいので好感が持てます。Asturiasは華やかな曲ですからテンポを少々控えても曲には影響ありません。指板のフレットを抑えている指に無理が感じられません。スムーズに、確実に指がフレットを押さえているので音が割れません。セーハーしたところを一瞬で弾く技術は絶品です。Anaは全体的にすばらしいテクニックを沢山、会得しています。

I wish I could hear her great performances more recent. I love the way her musical choices and style is progressing. I couldnt wish for anything more. The best ever nowadays.

This video was made about 10 years ago. She's even significantly better now from what I heard of her live in concert. More refined and even more effortless seeming.

I have watched several of her concert videos and she is by far the most incredible classical guitar player today. She has a connection to the instrument that is on a spiritual level. I find it best to listen to her playing rather than watching her play. It provides an ambience that is almost euphoric. Her love of the instrument radiates through her music. Simply beautiful.
I concur. Been listening since she was a child. There are 50-60 touring players in the top tier with her but there is something much more musical about Ana. She has an uncanny ability to subtly separate voicings and sound like there are two or three players in call and response and it seems effortless. Plus she has an incredibly even and accurate tremolo - one of the best if not the best. Close your eyes and listen to her play traditional repertoire back to back with anyone past or present and it’s often like hearing the piece for the first time. I just wish she would record more concert and studio.
She said she had to be taught the correct way to express herself and re-learn how to play guitar, she said she started wrong-she over-corrected to the point I listen and choke up with tears and a passion beyond control trying to grasp for each note before it fades away.
