5. SOUNDBITE (English): Sir Mick Jagger, rock star:
Question: "What was your impression of it all?"
Answer: "It was wonderful, it was rather wonderfully formal and there were some wonderful outfits I noticed everywhere. What's rather good is like, there is, everyone represented from all over England, and Wales and Scotland and Ireland and from every walk of life, from historians to bee-keepers, which is rather great."
Question: "Did you ever think you'd be standing there?"
Answer: "Yes."
Question: "How would the the little ones (members of his family) have viewed this?"
Answer: "They would have all loved to come but were unfortunately limited to three people, so I chose them in order of seniority and availability. But they would (all) have loved it, especially the younger ones would have loved all the soldiers, but unfortunately they couldn't come."
Question: Asked about joining the (social) establishment.
Answer: "I don't really think the establishment as we knew it really exists any more, so it's a non-question really."
Question: Asked why he missed other dates for the knighthood
Answer: "Well, I've been on tour you know, I chose a convenient date for myself, and the palace have all been very understanding of that and I'm sure they are with lots of other people. Not everyone can turn up on the first one, I've been on tour, so the first date that was good for me, when my family could all be here, I chose. "
Question: Asked about comments made by Keith Richards.
Answer: "I think it's a bit like a bawling child who hasn't got an ice-cream."
Question: "Why did he say that?"
Answer: "I just told you."
Question: Asked again.
Answer: "I just told you why he said it, do I have to repeat it or did you get it first time. (Question) No. No, and that's all I've got to say about him."
Question: "What did Prince Charles say that made you laugh so much?"
Answer: "(laughing) No, I'm not repeating our conversation, I think it's a private one."

JAGGER KNIGHTED
It may not be rock'n'roll but Rolling Stone Mick Jagger received his knighthood at Buckingham Palace today (12/12/03).
Sir Mick, 60, knelt before the Prince of Wales to be dubbed a Knight Bachelor for services to pop music.
He joins fellow pop knights Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Elton John at the top of rock's hall of honours.
The grand old rocker arrived at the Palace with his proud 92-year-old father, Joe, and daughters Elizabeth, 32, and Karis, 19.
But not everyone has welcomed the honour, recommended by Prime Minister Tony Blair, and some believe the one-time, seemingly anti-Establishment rebel has
sold out.
Fellow Stone Keith Richards has poured scorn on his bandmates decision to go on bended knee before the Crown. He is in no doubt about what Mick should do with the
knighthood.
"I don't want to step out on stage with someone wearing a f****** coronet and sporting the old ermine," he said emphatically in a recent interview.
But Sir Mick's accolade is a great moment for their father.

His dad was always very supportive
That is one understanding dad. Mick is coming off as a bit rude, but oh well.
He could have been more polite to the man that openned the car's door...
the bloke that opened the door was an idiot
@@ingma2018 ,maybe🤔
Peasant
@@ThePakw No, not you 😊 Him!
Richard Carpenter He also drops kids all over the place........I might be old fashioned but it seems to me that neither Mick or Ronnie have any decency
Many have said (and I tend to agree) that the reason that he accepted this was because he knew it meant a lot to his father... when you look at the photos and see how proud Joe Jagger looks it’s really sweet
People had been putting him forward for a while before he got it
Remember Keith told him that they are the same people who wanted to frame them and put them in prison 20 years ago
Or maybe to piss off Keith 🤔
I think that maybe part of it, but Mick has always wanted to be part of the aristocracy, he spent a lot time hanging around with aristocrats, according Marriane Faithful.
@@laylacooper1058Kieths hilarious. In his book he said ‘ I told Mick I pulsating let anyone from that family near me with a stick let alone a sword’. Those two are so different but it works. Keith also said at one point Mick wouldn’t let him in his dressing room cause he smoked An old couple. Lol
Man switched seats just to get out the car on his own, didn't want to be served
Mick's father was in his 90s in this video. I expect Mick to probably be prancing and dancing around for at least another ten years.🎵🎶🎹🎼
Hes STILL a workout fanatic to this day
In the beginning it's pretty funny he did not wait to have the door open, certainly not 'a bawling child that didn't get his ice cream', a really practical man, actually
Mick opened his own door
' seniority & availability' ! good answer from Mick.
And no one's talking about the gentleman who opened the wrong door of the car. 😂
I don't think he opened the wrong door. Mick Jagger did on purpose and with that humiliated the poor man that was just doing his job not to mention the fact that he totaly ignored him. I was very disappointed!!!
@@ThePakw shut up! Show respect for mick jagger. You are obviously very jealous of mick jagger!
@@ThePakw it may have been he was showing "humility" in saying, I don't need my door open even with such an honour or it was an "act" knowing that the cameras were there and he was perpetuating the "anti-establishment" Rolling Stones ontology. Same goes for being rude to the doorman inside. I think it was "PR" and he knew what he was diong.
Forever young man.
I am glad.his family could.be there.
That poor Footman. No one let him do his job.
Been avoiding this one. Don’t know why. It’s quite cool. Mick’s dad is interesting in motion. I’ve only seen a few photos of his dad before. Great interview as usual. 👌🏼✨
Keith Was Always Right , Especially The Bust Of 67 ,Hello Mick Remember That Set Up . Now Its A Paltry Honor To Even Accept . Mick Did It For Publicity More Than Anything And His Father
Damn he was so rude he could have acknowledged the doorman.
He was avoiding the media !
@@ArtTripperdoorman isn't media.
I'm from Detroit (blow the reveille)!
Ok, some negative comments & a little name calling. I get it. I'm no fan of this subject either.
But, I am here (as I suspect you all are) because
I AM a fan!
He's not just the singer in 'The-Greatest-Rock-And-Roll-Band-In-The-World'.
He's also HALF of the 2nd best songwriting team of all time! (pretty good solo as well)
He's had AMAZING moments on stage & screen!
(& TV)
He's also THE BEST FRONTMAN WHO EVER LIVED!
So show some respect! (peace. lol.)
He plays a mean harp, too.
- Dave B.
Saw him do:
'Don't Tear Me Up' on SNL.
It was ..... TRANSITIONAL!
Can't find it on YT anymore. Just the (pre-show) rehearsal version.
@@Methilde Yea, I know.
Like I said: "Not my fav subject."
But, give him his due for what he's done.
And (I think) 'Give-him-a-pass' will follow.
- Dave B.
@@jellobiafra2810 I think he got his due with his numerous and faithfull public since 50 years. What more for a musician. Maybe he wants to be proud for his father ?
Anyone who doesn't think Mick Jagger is the best frontman ever
never saw him live.
@@rosea.8894 Yes I saw them 4 times, Mick was always so involved with the public and brillant, even when Keith was not at his best (drugs period only).
Sir Mick Jagger I Just Love You! You are Perfection!
He should have said “ I bust a button on my trousers I hope they don’t fall down “ 🤣
His daughter Karis is so beautiful. I love how he’s so proud of her. It’s beautiful.
0:25 "C'mon, I'm Mick, I can play with you all day!"
Mick Jagger for ever .... continuará!!!!!😛🕶🍷🎙🎤🎼🥁🚬🎧🎛🔊🎬📽💿📀💰.....
Mick jagger dad lives in OLDHAM, Mick x wife JERRY came from OLDHAM Nd Mick nearly bought our friends farmhouse in OLDHAM (uppermill )...GREAT town OLDHAM!!!
What a great protection honour and joy to be a k ight of a queen who comes in colours everywhere all the time...
Much deserved. Brilliant musician/singer/writer... rock on
And now this is 15 years ago already. Time is a bitch.
He doesn't think the establishment exists as they knew it, because he's now part of it or used to rubbing shoulders with them.
Common courtesy would be to acknowledge someone you encounter, especially one that opens a door for you.
Maybe Mick thinks he's beneath him.
I hope the doorman is not a rolling stones fan. He might ditch his record/cd collection.
I am a stones admirer, saddens me to see his attitude.
All of Mick's money can buy him things but it can't buy him manners!!
I like he's dad.
Mick Jagger
Me caes tan bien!!!!!! Y me encanta tu sonrisa!!!!!
Interviewers test the water by saying "Greetings Sir Michael." & if he says " its Miiiiick!" they know the interview ,ll be fine, but as Keith.ll tell you he loves it that you know he,s got a knighthood.
Toujours la classe ,Mick🎉
Wowww 💯 such an ingenious Gentleman!! So well used to kinda TIC TAC TOE INTERVIEW'S. OHHH SO KIND WITTY MAN ROLLING STONER! Ahaaa😋😝🤗🤩
E uma estrela de milesima grandeza.
Yeahhh Mr MICK JAGGER is a SIR KNIGHT GENTLEMAN 😎💪😊 YUPPIES I!!!
I can't find the videos in which Roger Waters and Dave Gilmour were knighted. Are they deleted or what? 😥
I love him
Keith Rlchard will be honored with a wax figure of his likeness at the Disneyland pirates of the Caribbean ride!
To : docfaceful ----- Now that's funny ! Especially since Johnny Depp told Keith that he had purposely copied him for Captain Jack Sparrow and Keith told him he was flattered and amused.
Keith was pissed off about this
I think he was knighted by Seagrams Crown Royal !!!🤣🤪😵
chris oerly fuck him then
@@Imintune... LOL
@RedLiver Surely that's Micks gig.
Full length leather coat situation
Did she Knight him or did he allow her to be an Englishwoman?
He is definitely an evil sociopathic guy
The truth is ,You're not supposed to pick one up , so maybe its a good thing you dropped one, might save you from being dropped some day .
A Knighted street fighting man.
Mr Jagger Snr does not look his age. l believe was 92 at the time.
97
And his father. Basil Fanshawe "Joe" Jagger along with his Daughters Raris and Elizabeth Lizzy.
Well, I don't get the impression that Keith's objections to the knighthood were ones of envy, but rather ones of principal.
Keith said he wouldn't let anyone from that family touch him with a pointy stick let alone a sword... lol
*principle
@@TheNeverpostsThank you, Red. After all, Mick was offered a knighthood, not the opportunity to become headmaster of the local primary school. ;-)
@@aarfeld haha we should hope so
@@TheNeverposts yeah "Hey kids Mr.Jagger has an announcement listen up"
Brilliant 😍
Solo le faltaba este nombramiento !! Para ser el puto amo !! Del rock !!!
me parece que Jagger fue poco cortés con el que lo recibió en Palacio...que raro... porque cuando te lo encuentras en la calle es diferente...
Just glad I is a Rolling Stones fan still at 66.
I am RS fan and at 75
MJ a totally coherent gentleman who is a credit to the nation the world history and humanity buckingham palace the lot
good video producers actors directors cameramen all
thank you.
@@petermills542 Just a bit of autobiographical, when I heard 'Gimme Shelter' (song) for the first time, as it was released, I couldn't believe it. Still can't, and they are still playing it as well. By as well I don't mean also I mean as good. Actually these two songs are out of the same exact period. Can't get better writing than that. And another thing the Stones do, is just turn out classic versions of them, just like that.
MICK............the one.....true to Himself JAGGER.....the Teacher of all front Men......thanks TINA...he he he......what?......MICK....and what beautiful offspring our Great Rocker has left Humankind......MICK......
Ni saludo ni dijo gracias que arrogante. Energúmeno y soy su admirador
Happy 80th Birthday Sir Mick Jagger ♥️
Who was the SOUNDMAN here? They had one mic in total.
And one Mick
Mick is fortunate to still have hair, one look at his Father and you would think otherwise.😉
Yes, and Elton John also has hair! 😁
Not even a little hello to the door man ...smile at least
Or slip him a fiver.
Mick jagger stepping out of the car cool as shit.
I thought he looked nervous but tried to hide it.
Nervous or not, you know when you're being rude. Tsk Tsk Mick!
Pledging himself to Lady Jane again.
Thought Jane was Mary Jane
The little figure in the red rain mack is a reference I think to the film Don't Look Now, with Donald Sutherland and Julie Christie - set in Venice - a mysterious red figure in a red raincoat is, in fact, a murderer knocking people off - Sutherland comes to a 'sticky' end chasing her through the Venice underground sewer system ... all very mysterious.... now why on EARTH reference that film at an Elton John garden party? The mind boggles ...
Spoiler alert!
LE PORTIER LUI OUVRE LA PORTE IL SORT DE L'AUTRE CÔTÉ !!! C ''EST TOUT MICK ÇA !!! ☺️☺️
Mick went through a lot,I am sure...
Och!!! Mike Jagger.....
Mick wanted the Knighthood. But he did not want to go through the whole game of getting it. I said that as if I was his brain making a confession. LOL !
I don’t have a car, nor a suit, so I can not be knighted, except as a man of la. Mancha. ?
He should have acknowledged the doorman and shown a few manners.
Yea- tha was sour, but maybe he was so up to the moment tha he regret this later. Maybe ---
@@arneberg9261 There's no excuse for Jagger's behavior. It's called bad manners.
I caught that too.
That is exactly what I thought, and his family too! The money goes to their heads and they think they can do what the hell they like with people.
I agree!!! Shame on him.
Humilde y simpatico, un grande .
I am surprised Jade was not there.

Lost now my AP Archive.
I cant stand the sight of these guys getting on their knees to take these creep's swords
The doorman don't exist for him, very bad education!!! Only a smile or head sign was enough.
The doorman don't care at all, the rest is hypocrisy.

Joe Jagger looks so proud of Michael. I assume that’s Karis and Jade as well.
karis and elizabeth
Queen Elizabeth II refused to personally bestow the knighthood on him..pointing out that Mick was never a role model for anybody..💯🎊👍
How can Jagger be knighted when he left the country so he wouldn't have to pay taxes?
The reason why the Queen did not turn up, that day, she knew, that keith had an appointment to the doctor! So she didn't bother!! Sorry Mick, you're not the one!!
I wouldn’t let them near me with a sharp stick let alone a sword! - Keith Richards
What's worse, Jagger being knighted, or Stephen Tyler on America's Got Talent?

I wonder whether knights get tortured before they get that title...
Mick loves the monarchy I know that for a fact because Charlie Watts told me
Really cuz Bianca told me he couldn't stand any of them except for Margaret.
