“woke up this morning’…” watching this fresh set, massive rides - rider after rider - suddenly, I see this crazy late take off on biggest set throwing tons in a apartment size curl- this rider is so smooth in seemingly -kept thinking as I watched him “ Man this guy is way above notch above all the guys I saw so far --when he finally comes closer to the camera, I see his face and I spontaneously call out : Damn! IT’S KAI! - of course! - an honor to Witness what I truly believe will one of the top Big Wave riders thus far in surfing history - all this is such a young career still .. Go Kai!!! It almost looked like that guy was on a Rasta wavestorm!
Makes for a picture of a lifetime for the rider. What a beautiful drop from that deep in. The side carnage adds to a great still shot.
Any idea who is the rider on the blue board?
@@pmczapczara5332, I'm not sure. Ian Walsh has ridden similar-looking blue boards in the past, plus he charges like that, so it could be him. Perhaps someone else knows.

Had his line been a foot or two lower, he would have gotten SMOKED.
Loving the natural sounds of the ocean etc, but I am not a fan of slo mo surfing, nearly every surfing channel does it, be nice if some just showed the waves and rides in real time with possibly a slo mo replay afterwards if it was a really cool wave. You got so many great shots there, share with us the real time ones too please.

Insane late season Mavs beast swell , feeling sorry for those guys that were dropped in on , though , this is not a day to be dropping in on somebody already riding it !
I showed up two times when it was going off but opted for Ocean Beach both times because of the insane crowds there. No way in hell I'd ever snag a wave with all those people and the large number of heavy weight names in the lineup.
What I learnt from this is that SUPs have no place at Mav’s, in fact now I think about it - no place on any wave 😅
U should tell that to Jeff Clark. He´s the one making most of the SUPs that ride in Mavericks

Sorry don't want to sound like a kook, but why do most of these guys drop straight down the front of the wave instead of heading down the line? Looks like there's a pretty safe way out if they keep moving down the line.
Don’t understand the experience level out there…. A lot of body bouys…. To many in the way. Some questionable of WHY they are out there…. Brutal!!!!!
