  • Just once in a while the weekly classic car meet at the Swettenham Arms pub sees some incredible classic cars that no one has ever seen before - and this particular evening car meeting was certainly one of those!
Along with the regular attendees such as the 1957 Standard 10 and the usual scattering of Porsche 911s, some amazing never-seen-before classic cars popped up to the weekly Cheshire meeting, from a stunning Lamborghini 400GT 2+2 to a V8 mid-engined Thames 400E van, and from a super-low Triumph TR4 to a flame spitting Lotus Elise!
This was truly one of the best turnouts at the Swettenham Arms car meet I'd seen in a long time, with us in the Jaguar XJ8 this time (it was too dark for us to take anything older with 6 volt headlamps!) being greeted by a packed car park and many enthusiastic car owners, a couple of which I interviewed at this particular meeting filmed on the 17th September.
Thanks also very much to the owner of the green Lotus Elise for sending me some great clips of some onboard driving!
If you did enjoy this video, then please let me know in the comments, and while you're at it share what your favourite car from the evening classic car meet was. Also remember to subscribe for future classic car related videos, and if you can't wait another week for a CarTraction upload then head over to the channel homepage for over 200 past videos!
    Thanks for watching!

Gee, I enjoyed that, thankyou. I can see myself perambulating around in my V8 250 Daimler to those car meets.

Great to see you back in harness and presume you have been hopefully deep in study as it is, I guess, a critical time for you academically. Whatever, I loved the video which displayed all your ever-growing confidence and expert knowledge for all things classic cars. Well done. I agree with your view on Dad's XJ8. It could well be a future classic it's youth currently does not allow it to be have such a moniker. But I am glad that the incredible amount of complicated fettling he has done to try and get the beast to be more reliable has been extremely brave and praise worthy is so far paying off. Well done to you as well as you draw ever nearer having your own classic jam jar! Rob

Hello 👋 Harley. That Lamborghini is just stunning. I was thinking , and you might think it's funny for me to say this , but it's similar in design and shape to the Ford Consul Capri. What do you think ?. The Consul is a good looking sporty car. The Volkswagon Beetle is fantastic. Very smart indeed with the yellow fog lamps. The Ford Popular takes me back to the 1960s and Stockcar racing here in NZ. Some of the cars had Ford Popular and Prefect body shells over their roll cages. I like the pea green coloured Hillman Imp. A question , not related to cars though. What pop music musicians do you like ?. I like all genres of music myself and own a large collection. Very good car display Harley. 👌 Thanks from Carl.

Wow!! That Lotus Elise was really something - you certainly wouldn't want to drive too close to that one. Thar Daimler was gorgeous and the E Type Jag was just stunning. Class and power in one very tidy package. But I think I would have been happy to take home one of the many Minis. I still miss my 1982 Mini 1000. Oh, and while your evenings are drawing in, our daylight saving started last night. 😅 I think you'll find that a lot of large American cars had those rear facing pin lights. They were so the driver could see the extent of the (vast) bonnet when manoeuvring in the dark. And finally, I had a Honda Beat, but mine was a 50cc 2 stroke motor scooter lol.

Thoroughly enjoyable! Enjoyed your other video from Tern Hill. Needless to say, have subscribed. Loved all the Alfa Romeos. I doubt though that their boots leak like my old one did and rusted 24/7.

Well Harley for me without doubt this is your best video to date. A confident and knowledgeable commentary, and terrific opening sequence with a cool soundtrack. I want that Lamborghini, 400 GT, absolute class. 11 Lamborghini is some serious money especially a Miura. I have always liked the 944, I have owned a 924 in the far flung distant past. I haven't watched OCC yet so you're first.

At the risk of contradiction by an Allard aficionado , I would venture that the bare aluminium bodywork of the ' J2' is sitting on the tubular chassis frame of what was once one of those large somewhat ungainly saloons known as P1's or P2's . I suspect it is not ,as you suggest, 'a period race car '. Whilst certainly not a 'pastiche' , I believe it to be a recreation on pukka underpinnings:

Hi Harley The strip of metal on the front of the Allard Race Car is called a “Burt Strut” after a famous lady hillclimber Patsy Burt
It put a piece of metal at the front of the car as the point of measurement at the start and finish of a climb to minimise discrepancies. Best wishes Alan
