We will be taking our first cruise ever in Oct 2024 and will be stopping here at this port 😊. I’ve been to Nassau once years ago with a work trip to Atlantis. It’s great to know this has been added. Awesome vlog and new subscriber here 😊.
It sounds like this cruise port is much improved. I have traveled places with pushy locals trying to get you to buy stuff. I understand they are just trying to make a living. But it is not pleasant to walk through a lot of people pressuring you to buy things you didn't budget for on your vacation. Anyway, glad to hear it is improved - but that you can go see what tours and products vendor have to offer in a low pressure setting. The port looks colorful and has great scenic views of the water. Just came back from here yesterday. Cruised on the Elation and the port was beautiful and clean! Had a great time at the Straw Market too. The prices are cheaper the deeper you get into the city. They’re are SUPER pushy for you to buy though.
You mentioned that there are 2 entrance/exits to the cruise port. In the video, they appear unmanned. Do you know if anyone can walk into the cruise port, or do you need a sail card from a cruise? We are flying in and staying at Atlantis, but this seems like a good afternoon to come over and check out, if possible.
They were checking sail cards and IDs at the entrance closer to the dock near the cruise ships, but I don't recall seeing anyone checking sail cards at the main gates to the shops, so I THINK you should be able to walk around there. You might want to ask someone else just in case, though.

I……we love Nassau. Lots of character, colourful charm and great people. However negotiating the port area sidewalks for a legal blind guy is a challenge. First time there, back when I could see a bit better I just about got hit by a car. I wasn’t thinking they drove on the left, stepped off the sidewalk because it was a really rough spot and the road was clear,nope! a car went flying past blowing its horn from behind me! I stepped right out in front of it forgetting I was not facing oncoming traffic! So for me this would be a great port stop with the new renovations and all new port entry ending up at the straw market. Like you said the constant harassing from street venders and taxis sounds better too.

We have been to this port more times than we can count over our fifty plus cruises since 1996. We were excited when the new port was up and running and have been here three times since. It's a great facility and yes, much less pushy. Also remember how they stuffed multiple cruise ship passengers through two double doors? Ship return is also much better. Our only objection is that ALL of the kiosks and shops are VASTLY overpriced. Take note of how many people are returning with purchases - not many. The busiest kiosks were the ones serving liquor. For example, one shop had a baseball cap that was $45.00. INSANE. The same ridiculous pricing was evident at all the shops. Our advice is to keep walking right past to visit the shops on Woodes Rodgers Walk and the related side streets which includes the straw market. Here can can get much better deals.
