A great way to get your kids started with fishing. They won’t be bored.. Any river or estuary that runs into the ocean is a great place to start.
Brought back memories,spending summers at my grandmother's in sag harbors couldn't wait for snapper season a really fun fish , especially late Sept right before they move out to deep water they can put up a little fight use a ultra light rod for the best experience. Little trick on fishing sag harbor find where the coves drain into shelter bay right a the mouth use pile worms off the bottom more flounder and blowfish than you have ever caught in your life non stop

I have an old 6 foot honey stick I put a spinfisher 3500 on it's great for snappers, also insanely fun on slot bass and gator blues, fantastic little combo

Just found your channel and subbed. Where in LI are you? I'm in Patchogue and my son and I have been fishing at least 5 times a week this summer, sometimes saltwater but mostly fresh. We got 24 puffers and 6 snappers in 2 hours the other day off a dock in Blue Point.
Snappers are good eating! Cut off the head,tail and gut them put them in flour and pan fry and eat! Hampton Bays snapper fisherman!
I catch about 25 a day with freinds and we sell them to the bait and tackle shop and make a lot of money

We use to catch these snapper blues and put them in a lake at this camp ground we'd go to and they would survive 5 months they would double in size or more close to a pound they would fight as hard as a 2lb large mouth bass ,we would put a couple hundred snappers in the lake the large mouths and pickerel would eat their share by November they usually all you might catch a straggler or two

Those are not really tiny snappers. I've caught alot smaller than that. Usually on a snapper popper with a tiny lure. The lure you are using I would consider pretty big for snappers, that unless there were decent size snappers around. Which is what you were catching 🙂
