I just picked up a mined on Red Devil 5700 xt. This is going to be my gaming gpu for a while. Current temps are perfectly fine but I think some updated pads and thermal paste will do the trick. Thanks for saving me the time of having to find the thickness of the pads. 1, 1.5, and 3 for the back plate.
I'm glad that I was able to help. Make sure to change that thermal paste, it's a great card but the paste it comes with is super thin.
Awsome Video very detailed .Thanks to your awsome Introduction i manage to fix my 5700XT Red Devil ❤ thank you
Thanks for your help, I was looking exactly for thermal pads specific and disassembly help and you already found the solution.
Nice vid, good job. Best I watched on this as far as humor and enjoyable-ness. You crack me up. Not sure what else you've got going on, but I subscribed. A little short-cut worth mentioning, if you can live without the cool logo on the backplate, just removing the backplate will drop most cards that don't have thermal pads back there by as much as 8C without doing anything else. Of course, you did a full job on it, absolutely the best way to go. But most metal backplates just trap hot air over the backs of the vRAM chips and MOSFETs; take it off and let it get airflow is a quick temporary fix in the right situation.
what you say makes absolute sense. If I do a job on a future GPU and I find no pads under the backplate, I'll put the backplate in the GPU box.
You know what I hate? PLASTIC backplates. Like, what gives? Why do you exist?
Hello
1,5mm pads on memory worked well? Doing research what pads to put where :D
yes. get the same kind I got you'll be good.
but the thermal paste on this model is actually the worst thing ,make sure you do that
@@RobertJene thank you so much for your answer, never changed pads so far :)))
Which thickness did you use for the gap between the PCB an backplate? 3.5mm?
the sizes I used are in the video and in the description box.
Happy you uploaded! I was wondering whats your background?
it's a weird sci-fi glitch I call the "black hole room"
I forgot to do something stupid/funny with it LOL
I use iC Diamond. I used that stuff on the PS3's that I used to repair (reflow) and I never had one go bad again. I feel like the diamond paste helped absorb some of the heat because the air blowing out of the back of the PS3 was cooler than it was before. It used to be really warm/hot. Afterwards it would feel lukewarm.
LOL! "absorb" the heat, no it had better thermal transfer to the heat sinks, air blowing it out was more efficient.
If all it did was absorb the heat, it would share it right back to the CPU haha
@@RobertJene Maybe it transferred efficiently and never allowed it to get hot
@@theitguy2731 yes. This
Yes you gain temperature using 2 thermal pads tacked
what?
Do you know of any budget GPU's. I need one for a youtube video.
it cant be too garbager
Well... What's the budget and what do you need it to be able to do?
Hi, I was hoping that possibly you might have an old Aorus Rx 5700 XT still sitting around that you could send me the bios from? My card is still under warranty but tech support kept lying to me about a download not being on my download page then sent me a link and the download I was talking about was there. I've been arguing with them over this for about 2 years now and always the same thing treat me like I'm stupid and the download doesn't exist. Then the person that sent me the link proving I was correct advised me to install GeForce drivers on my AMD card!!! I have screenshots of all the lies that they told me, it's pretty ridiculous. So I don't even trust them to fix it and I can't afford to buy a new one because I have spinal cord injuries in two different places and can't work and have no income. Since I ran the .bat file on my download page (for F2 bios, changed .bat to .txt to figure that out) and mine takes F1 the fans spin so fast on start up that I'm surprised it doesn't take off like a drone and start delivering packages for Amazon lol so now after only two years the fans are shot, almost everyday it downloads a different version of Adrenaline even with a fresh install of Windows, then downloads what looks like the Gaming OC Aorus Engine and it's unresponsive, nothing works when you click on it and then downloads the wrong RGB 2.0 for the MOBO. So I have to download all the correct programs over again, run DDU ect. Besides lying to me about all of this being an issue they won't send me the correct bios either so I was hoping for a miracle and you'd have them or be able to get the bios. Sorry about the long comment and bothering you with this but the place that should be helping me isn't. Most People I've sent messages to won't respond to me but in case you can help the model number is GV-R57XTAORUS-8GB revision 1.0 there is a bios correction tool that is only on the revision 1.0 page and I think it's wrong and it seems Gigabyte pulled all these cards except the OC Gaming 8 GB which is odd because that is the AORUS engine program it keeps downloading. Every other brand has all 5700 series cards for sale new almost everywhere except Gigabyte but they still have old cards for sale brand new and of course when I drilled tech support about it they wouldn't answer. Sorry to email you like this, I know it's only suppose to be for business inquires but honestly I think I stumbled upon something they didn't want anyone to know about and I think a lot of people probably sent the cards in for an RMA and had to pay to have it fixed because it flashed the wrong bios on my card. When I ran GPUZ the speeds were the same as the OC Gaming and my card was faster that's why I bought this one. I don't do much with social media so I don't know if you can just message me on here because I subscribe to your channel
I checked, and techpowerup has the BIOS.
no, I don't feel comfortable with sending you a BIOS.
backup your current BIOS, and consider using the one from techpowerup.
Those are uploaded by users.
@@RobertJene Thanks for responding. I understand why you wouldn't feel comfortable sending bios. I did check techpowerup again and was able to find one but the bios part number/board number was missing, put it in red bios editor but wasn't able to put of that info in but I flashed it anyway and I have it pretty stable now. I'll mess with it a little more once I put new pads in and fresh paste just waiting for the fans to get here. I would have backed my original bios up but this happened on install from the .bat files on my cards downloads page....wasn't expecting that lol!!!! Thanks for your time man, I appreciate it!
@@b2948-r1v never use batch files you download. Always do every step yourself in the command line so you can see what's happening.
I actually make batch files for things, but I never would for something like this.
@@RobertJene Geez I didn't see this reply until now! I got these batch files from Gigabyte right from the download page for my card so I trusted they were tested and everything would be fine which was dumb of me. I honestly don't think that they are supposed to be on my page because I bought the card 1 month after it came out and Gigabyte tech support has denied they exist ever since....even though they are still on the page! Now since I recently out argued them, caught them trying to cover up lies with more lies and took screenshots of all of it they wont even return my emails even though all my stuff is still under warranty. Knowing I have spinal cord injuries in 2 different places and cant work so I can't afford to replace any of it they wont send me my bios but I can download any of the 35 for my motherboard from them.
