Ahh yes! I haven't played with raspberry pi for amateur radio yet, but it's on my list. I use one in my greenhouse for temp controls and data logging. cheers!
I installed dosbox on my machine and I am unable to get it to support the unusual baud rates used by the Motorola Maxtrac. Do you know where the source code is for the version of dosbox used with hamvoip? I would like to try building it. The standard dosbox and dosbox-staging do not appear to support custom baud rates. @@JDtheEE Precal and I think experiencing music. I joined on HogSync about a month ago, but never paid my dues or reached out to anyone. Will get in contact this semester
@@cam545 Yep what a different world that was. Please do join, anything I can do to help you get active and on the air just let me know! I run a few of the repeater around Fayetteville and like to see them used lol.
Thank you for the video! I'm not sure what hardware connects between the Pi and the radio. The cables I am famiiar with are a cable, conected to a RIB, connected to a serial port, on a DOS computer. What will I have in this setup? A USB FTDI cable which has a 9-pin serial port connected to the RIB connected to the radio? Or can you somehow connect directly to the radio? Also does the DOS BOX take care of slowing down the serial speed to talk to the Motorola?

Dude, we had classes together a couple of semesters ago, didn't realize you were a ham operator too! 73, KG5ERR
Hey really? What class was it? Have you ever considered joining the radio club on campus?

I'd imagine it would be connected from the USB port, to the rib, to the radio. -Jon, K5DVT
