@@Nameless_h_007 I doubt it. It probably because the Oscar's want safe crowd pleasing movies and The Lighthouse was probably the strangest movie of the year.
Donald Jack The movie provided acting at its best, look at every other performances that is nominated and tell me who beats Willem Dafoe this year ?! Or maybe last year in At Eternity’s Gate ?! Even Joker at some point you could see Phenix is trying but Dafoe god damn it that was unbelievable.
@@Nameless_h_007 no one did. The Oscars are shit and I agree he did one of if not the best performance of the year. Yeah Marriage Story was on point. As a Divorced father of two I testify that this movie was incredibly real. That first court scene was so unbelievably accurate it was hard to watch.
1917 was my favorite. The way a story was told with almost no words, with a cameraman taking the journey and experiences of war with the actor, and the musical composition which adapts to the emotions of the character and the scene as if the soul of the character was putting their emotions to the strings.
Unbelievably I cannot remember the year when I first started watching his videos. All i remember was being in Jeremy Jhans channel first...I wanna say the first video I watched from Chris was the Analyzed Signs...Which was amazing. I wish he continue making Analyzed videos and more pre- 1980 movie reviews.
Respect Chris’s list of his favorites for 2019 but honestly , I fell in love with 1917 spectacular in every sense of film making the “ one shot” type of filming blew me away , the filming at night scenes were unbelievable , the acting was excellent neither actor was over 25, leave it to the English , Sam Mendes a genius.
Loved your opening for The Nightingale. "It was somehow everything I wanted, while also being something I never want to see again." It was the hardest film I've ever sat through, definitely because of personal reasons as well, but it was amazing. Glad it made your list.
Uncut Gems was definitely my fave of the year! It was fast paced yet takes it time with the story. And Adam Sandler was so great. It definitely is Oscar worthy. Phenomenal!!
Idk about that movie. I enjoyed it but I'm hesitant to say it was great. It was 2 hours of sandler making dumb decision after dumb decision. Not much plot honestly. Cant say I wasnt entertained though.
List of Films I saw in 2019 that I would say are incredible A+ - Parasite - Joker - The Lighthouse - 1917 - Marriage Story - Portrait of a Lady on Fire - Ad Astra A - Knives Out - Jojo Rabbit - Ford v Ferrari - Avengers: Endgame - Uncut Gems - Little Women - Toy Story 4 - Once Upon A Time...in Hollywood - Doctor Sleep - Honey Boy - Rocketman - A Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood - The Peanut Butter Falcon - The Irishman A- - The Farewell - Midsommar - Us - Dolemite Is My Name - Offical Secrets - The Nightingale - Apollo 11 - The Last Black Man In San Francisco - John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum - Pain and Glory 31 films in 2019 that I would say are incredible. @@RobVespa Nah, they can dislike whatever movie they want, doesn't mean im automatically gonna dislike it as well. Doctor Sleep is one example, i loved that movie.
CromeStyle5 - What you like or don’t like has nothing to do with the sentiment I relayed (and shouldn’t wholly be tied to another’s opinion). Whether or not a critic enjoys a film could, in theory, have nothing to do with whether or not it’s a good film. There are many factors to consider when addressing a film... beyond how it resonates with the viewer. For a reviewer to put a film like Dr. Sleep on a worst of list - Well, that tells me that the reviewer isn’t worthy of that mantle - That they know little to nothing of the medium and don’t respect the art or their viewer. It’s a ludicrous insult. I can’t take them seriously.
The Lighthouse had amazing cinematography, a chilling atmosphere, and impecable acting.. but it was just not my cup of tea. So my personal favorite would be Parasite. Amazing list though, I'll definitely be watching all of these films
I thought it wasn't for me either, at first I just felt like just a bunch of weird sequences were meshed together but could see how other people might like it....but after a few hours I couldn't get the movie out of my head. I thought of the comparisons to Prometheus and the Greek gods and all the other ways it could be interpreted and now I understand how it could be Chris's number 1. I absolutely loved this movie

It's sad that The Lighthouse is not one of the frontrunners on Oscars.
Podrick Payne wtf that’s actually crazy
Because Willem Dafoe wasn’t a gay black Jew I guess.
@@Nameless_h_007 I doubt it. It probably because the Oscar's want safe crowd pleasing movies and The Lighthouse was probably the strangest movie of the year.

The movie provided acting at its best, look at every other performances that is nominated and tell me who beats Willem Dafoe this year ?!
Wow this list makes me feel like I Missed alot of great movies this year. 2019 was a great year for movies.

Great movie.
The one film I'm most upset he hasn't reviewed. I caught it 5 times last month.
1917 was my favorite. The way a story was told with almost no words, with a cameraman taking the journey and experiences of war with the actor, and the musical composition which adapts to the emotions of the character and the scene as if the soul of the character was putting their emotions to the strings.
Here's to another 10 years of getting Stuckmannized 🎉🎉❤️

Or has he already done it?
He's not doing those anymore, he already explained it last year I think.
not sure about best movie, but we do have a long list of unbearable worst movie for 2019
At the end of last year's Best Movies of 2018 video, he said that he hasnt really enjoyed making Worst Movies of The Year lists in the past couple of years, so he is going to stop doing them.
He doesn't do those anymore, and I honestly think that's a shame. They were always entertaining to watch.
@Fred T he didn't like being negative about anything film related on the internet, since that is already so saturated here and he didn't want to contribute i guess. i respect him for that, but yeah those videos were pretty entertaining. but i completely see why he stopped doing them.

Love the thought you put into your list. You’re always so deliberate, thorough, and fair. Love hearing your recommendations!
I love how Doctor Sleep can be seen on both worst and best of the year lists from critics
If Dr. Sleep is on a worst list, I would no longer find that critic credible.
Some of your list wasn’t what I expected but I’m so glad to see The Lighthouse on the number one spot. It’s my favourite this year too.
"You're Not Invited To My Birthday Party," Chris Stuckmann!
@@josuepaulin625 You know, I've been thinking a lot about this movie lately, and I think that by itself deserves recognition. Maybe I should give it a second watch
