Can't even explain the addiction I've developed for this band.
There's a lot of emotional complexity behind this song, and the video reflects just that. If you listen to the transition of the album and their previous ones, it all comes together.

This song is just genuinely amazing and is one of my all time favorite melodies. Really
In fact, the guy is just coming back to life every time he is killed by the people he loves because he is no longer himself as he is a desperate cycle in search of meaning, new experiences and fun. His past brain (his past self) is also immortal, and it tries to meet the main character, but he ignores the brain .One woman even shows him his brain but he doesn't recognize it, it is the proof that he is only a zombie.The other characters, knows he is only a body with weird objectives and that's why they kill him. We can wonder how 'human' the other characters are, as they are playing with death (tarot card, weapons, murders) and even enjoying killing their past friend.
Patrick Chafouin I agree mostly but they don't really kill him, this is probably a metaphor of pain/Hurt/divide between people because he is changing too much.

Summer 08 is supposed to be sort of a continuation of Nights Out they said, and I have to say, with the themes of driving and death (particularly on/near the road) in this mv, I can only think this song is specifically a homage to back on the motorway

Alors, j'ai une explication pour le clip (flemme d'écrire en anglais sorry)
On se trouve dans une situation où la voiture est vide au début représentant le vide avant la vie.. Donc la voiture représente le cours de la vie.
Ensuite il creuse pour trouver ses chaussures, pour commencer à marcher et vivre.
On voit la discussion entre le couple avec d'un coté le rire représentant le bonheur et la claque représentant le malheur, les deux opposés qui constituent la vie.
Quand ils jouent aux cartes avec écrit "LA MORT", c'est encore la représentation de deux opposés : d'un coté jouer avec "la mort" justement, donc prendre des risques avec la vie et aussi le fait de s'ennuyer, cela se voit très bien à leur façon d'être qu'ils s'ennuient.
Et toutes ces séries de meurtres ne sont pas des vrais ("ah bon t'es sur pourtant c'est hyper réaliste quand il meurt :o") cela représente juste toutes les altercations, les désillusion, que l'on a vivre au cours de la vie. Et à la fin quand il se suicide, cela représente les choses qu'il s'inflige lui même au cours de sa vie.
Concernant l'apparition du cerveau, je ne sais pas vraiment, j'hésite un peu, c'est le moment où la femme lui rapporte qui me fait douter, je dirais que cela représente la réalité.. Elle lui rappelle la réalité.
Et à la fin, c'est la mort qui conduit la voiture, fin de la vie, je pense que c'était limpide !
Bref si vous avez des idées concernant le cerveau ou autres, je suis chaud !

Pas idiot mais on reconnait des obsessions du réalisateur aussi - les trucs qui rampent, la vie comme un film...
J'allais justement poster un commentaire genre "Post avant qu'un étudiant en BEP filmographie nous explique toute la profondeur de la réalisation qui mêle éléments transcendantaux sur le sens de la vie et critique camouflée du consumérisme à travers des plans audacieux." On dirait que j'arrive trop tard.
Dupieux, c'est juste le mec qui s'amuse de l'extra-analytique en multipliant les pistes et les indications qui ne mènent nul-part. Un espèce de miroir positionné devant toute la pseudo intelligentsia qui, lorsqu'elle se retrouve devant un truc qu'elle ne pige pas, crie au génie par réflexe de peur de passer pour des cons. Raté.
Le mec crée des hameçons toujours plus gros, et malgré ça les types continuent à mordre. Ouf !
