This moment was the best use of a red herring I've seen in FF. At this moment I really believed Cloud was a clone of Sephiroth. It made the revelation of his past have that much more impact. To me, FF7 remains the masterclass in video game storytelling.
Yeah, notice how throughout FF7 itself you don’t really interact with the real Sephiroth at all, until either this scene or the final boss. Most of the time you’re interacting with a shapeshifter Jenova under his control. Hell at the end of the game his real body is completely destroyed and from that point onwards you no longer interact with his real self anymore
In Rebirth it looks like Hogo gave Cloud Sephiroth's air, blood and cells to him for some experiment. Looks like Sephiroth wants to take over the man who killed him.
This game was ahead of it's time! Sucked being from the projects and playing this as you were expected to be something else. But even today the storyline, game play and the length of the game is unrivaled. Literally took me, & my cousins MONTHS to beat this game and we still only completed about a fraction of the sidequests.
my mom bought it for my brother and me because it said on the box "at least 40 hours of gameplay" probably played this game for 1 year of my life with all the different playthroughs. at one point i played it over and over just to see all the different dates in gold saucer. the Barret one is the best, he is so uncomfortable.
3 hours with lots of "reality glitching" jump scares, Cloud seeing alternate timelines, Lifestream Aerith talking to him, Tifa worrying about Cloud, Hojo laughing like Joker and Cloud having a flashback to the Nibelheim reactor for the 10th time.
When Rufus asked the team to come with him, it was a great chance to have Rufus turn to good instead of playing politics. But sadly, this is reality. Rufus tried to execute Barrett and Tifa. In real life you’d like to think someone as smart as Rufus would be better than that, but it never happens. FF7 scriptwriters got it right.
I get this weird glitch rather than the cutscene. The cutscene never shows up, and it just shows tifa and the gang walking somewhere unknown then it goes to the beggining where cloud looks up unto the reactor, but without its model.
On the contrary. This track has always had such a haunting manic vibe to it, I always thought it was perfect to convey the image of a man whose mind is breaking.
Yeah this is such a wild take on this track that I don’t think you listened to it. It’s literally carrying the motif of the city of the ancients. There is an underlying sadness throughout, as it foretells the doom about to visit their world.
I don't know how anyone can think this music doesn't fit this scene perfectly. It's a mix of hesitant triumph (they just found the promised land but everyone is right to be leery because they don't know what comes next) and dark confusion (as Cloud wrestles with his feelings of failure and desperately wanting an identity while he gives Sephiroth the black materia, dooming the world). Song and soundtrack still gives me chills all these years later. I always loved how they'd introduce new songs at every major milestone. When you'd hear a new song during a boss battle, you knew things just got taken to the next level. Also, the songs that got recycled and reused so many times were so well written that they always seem to fit the mood of any particular scene. The track that plays the first time you see Jenova in the Shinra building and the other more quite track that plays after you wake up in the Shinra building jail after Jenova broke out are great examples of how well the writer and composer grasped creating atmosphere even when they were dealing with the graphical limitations of the PS1.
Crazy I how saw; Well Most of this game while back seating with my older brother and Siblings, now 25 odd years later I’m Finally Experiencing it for Mu Self 😢🤗🤷♂️ It’s one of those Stories where you technically should feel like giving up since one of your love interests Got Offed MID GAME 😟 But Truly one of the GOATS in Gaming ! Cloud begging Hojo for a number and getting told to shut up is like begging a girl with a high body count if you can be one of her numbers and getting told to shut up
I still remember watching him beg Hojo like a bozo and handing the Materia to Sephiroth like it was yesterday. All i kept thinking was "This aint my protagonist"
I guess he ended up falling in immediately after handing sephiroth the materia, I don't think sephiroth really intentionally "disposed" of him he just was kinda a puppet that did its purpose by the time everything was collapsing around them. And of course, fell in the lifestream
@@jeromefeliciano4611my lord if they don’t add too many switcharoos and keep this scene and part classic and exactly how this is, it’ll literally be chef’s kiss and done so perfectly and only have hope in them on doing it great, I can’t lie on how impressed and immersed I was on Chapter 13 of Rebirth during the temple with Cloud being manipulated and acting psychotic under Sephiroth’s control
@@figuures6098 factual tho, you can feel the eeriness and discomfort he gives off, highlight of the game for me, supposedly some say that this was a replacement of the scene of Cloud beating on Aerith in the temple hole after he gave off the black materia and loses his shit lol I’d guess to keep it neat and over the top as the game would be in 4k showing cloud giving the beats to his beloved Aerith 💀
The moment you realized that the sleeping guy is the real Sephiroth.

Yep, in a league of its own.
Too bad the music they used here is horrendously unfitting
@@iam4026 i love reunion

Indeed
Tifa calapsing in despair when cloud basically says he's given up on himself hurts so much
Spehiroth: " i thought of a wonderful present for you Cloud. Shall i give you despair?"

Vlad 117 and he doesnt have legs. I dunno why i added that but it is weird

@@iam4026 Yeah, this scene is actually the first time in the entire game you see the the real sephrioth not just in a made up flashback.
Sephiroth breaks the 4th Wall... He is telling the players to remember... The Black Materia!
When Red XIII says don’t leave me alone, it always gets me for some reason.

What does projects mean? Like a poor area?
and this is just one of so many epic scenes...ffvii is the greatest story ever told in gaming history.
One of my favorite parts of the game and the music too, was just shocked at this point of the game.
I was there with Rufus. It was scary. I can recall the story if you want
Looks like Cloud has an exchange gift for Sephiroth this Christmas.
(Sephiroth gave Cloud the Destruct Materia)
This part of the game creeped me out......
Same. I actually felt like stopping playing it because it made me so uncomfortable.
The music is unsettling
I can't wait for this scene to be 3 hours long in Reunion
3 hours with lots of "reality glitching" jump scares, Cloud seeing alternate timelines, Lifestream Aerith talking to him, Tifa worrying about Cloud, Hojo laughing like Joker and Cloud having a flashback to the Nibelheim reactor for the 10th time.
"Return". But let's wait three more years for it
"Reunion" was already used for Crisis Core.
Damn I hope so
But this time with 10× more Cloud and Sephiroth yaoibait.
I’m here for the music
Disturbing scene...

PsychoKinetic i got that as well :(
Lololol
You must be playing on disc one somehow, the intro reactor FMV isn't present on disc 2
That sounds interesting, I need to see that glitch
Odd.....
Scene: Some heartbreaking “revelation” with Tifa and cloud
Music: Some festival celebration
On the contrary. This track has always had such a haunting manic vibe to it, I always thought it was perfect to convey the image of a man whose mind is breaking.
I would call the music "The Calm before the Hell"

I feel like everyone gives it to red xiii
MarvelGirlXVII i gave it to barrett. Seems appropriate
I couldn’t give it to anyone but Red.
Not me I gave it to Barret
You can only give it to 2 people, and out of those 2, 1 of them can’t be in your party. So the options are pretty limited.
I gave it to Barret aswell. He was there from the beginning and there wasn't anyone i trusted more than him and Tifa (and Aerith...)

You understand it correctly.
How did Red not smell that it wasn't Tifa?
Death without dying in the black materia.....dead but alive....alive but dead....untouched death...
Soooooo, Sephiroth is Tifa. Tifa is Sephiroth.
Ace Ventura breakdown incoming.....
Tifa is Sephiroth (clone)
The real Sephiroth is the dead guy (Cloud pushed him to the Lifestream during the Mt. Nibel Reactor incident)
Meanwhile, ace ventura: TIFA IS SEPHIROTH!!!😢😢😢
Goes to shower and plunge his mouth and burn his cloth and chew on mint gum.
What happens to cloud after he handed it over? Does Sephiroth dispose of him in the life stream and that’s how he ends up in the wheelchair?
