The game did have problems, but the music was fantastic, the character is visually appealing in design, and and if refined a bit more, would have likely been more memorable in the long run. The floating platforms might have have contributed to some dislike from people as well. That, and the fact the people porting it to PS1, and PC fucked it up beyond repair causing it to get an even worse rep. It sadly should have just stayed a Nintendo exclusive. They did the bare minimum required to make the game presentable and shoved it out the door in order to fulfill their contact with Take 2 with minimal time and effort. Worse than that, however, is they actually made the game LESS complete by removing a chunk of the completed campaign to resell as DLC. Former 3D Realms employees have confirmed that the DNF DLC was initially intended to be part of the main story, rather than some stand-alone side missions. Furthermore, like Duke Nukem 3D before it, DNF was originally intended to receive a final content pass prior to it's release. Basically, once the game was completely done, 3D Realms intended to go back in and added in a final layering of jokes, secrets and easter eggs. Once again Gearbox mostly skipped over that step and even changed the best easter egg already in the game. The obviously forced Borderlands reference in the underwater level was originally a Big Daddy helmet with the accompanying voice line, "who's your daddy now?" The completed textured model and voice clip are even still present in the game's data files for that level, but no longer referenced. I'm not saying Duke Nukem Forever would have been a huge success had Gearbox not butchered it for the sake of a quick turnaround on their contract (expectations were just way too high), but they certainly ruined any chance it might have had.

I will never forget Gex.
Man, Ristar was one of my favourite games when I was a kid. Good times, better times...
I still have my Sega mega drive, Ristar was one of my favourite games
I still have Ristar and it continues to be an amazing game. I'd love to see him make a comeback. And I didn't expect to see Aero here! I have both of his games. They're still kind of guilty pleasures, haha.
The Aero game actually looks pretty fun ngl.
I know everybody wants to forget him... But what about Bubsy the Bobcat?
WAS ALSO JUST ABOUT TO POST ABOUT THIS....GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!! :D
He's in Sonic forces representing the OC.
