lol I am an American living in Germany. I did an exchange in Taiwan last year. The guy talking about Germany cracked me up xD xD trains always late, everything closes early so there's nothing to eat at night, all true haha
I had a 12 hour layover in Tapai, back in September. Airport staff were so good. I ended up getting drunk with a few local people while on layover. Ive never actually been in the country but would love to soon

“Taiwanese Mandarin” isnt a thing lol. Mandarin refers to the standard putonghua dialect of Chinese that is the official language used in mainland China, especially in the north, just like how Hindi is like the language used by the government of India for official purposes but for regular everyday communication most people speak a provincial/local language/dialect. The Taiwanese dialect of Chinese is just that - another dialect of Chinese. Its not a different “language” because its mutually intelligible with Chinese, but it simply has a different accent. A different _language_ would be _Taiwanese Hokkien/Hakka_ , because that is a language that is completely unintelligible from Mandarin Chinese. “Chinese” is an umbrella term that just refers to all languages and dialects spoken in China or its territories. Obviously whether or not Taiwan is a “country” or not is quite controversial, but I think if u search it up, its fair to say that Hakka/Hokkien did originate from mainland China, thus it should be considered another Chinese language. Back to my point tho, Taiwanese is not Mandarin, its the same as saying “English Swedish”, just because both languages are Germanic. Completely wrong.
Nope. Mandarin refers to Chinese dialects of the language of the North and South West. Standard Mandarin is Putonghua. So of course Taiwanese have their own dialect of Mandarin. They even have their own Standard if you are gonna play that card, Guoyu
