Watching an accomplished lefty dance that fly line into action is so reminiscent of my oldest boy. We fly fished together for nearly 20 years and now he’s living on the other side of the country chasing Redfish in the Carolinas. I won’t ever leave the Rockies. This is my home. But it was a real delight to tag along with you tonight and remember so many special days with my lefty watching his gorgeous casting.
Thank you for another great episode! I have been watching and enjoying this show for many years. I love the locations, fish and people that are highlighted on each episode. I understand that the pandemic has made it difficult to produce episodes during the past year. This has probably limited the production crews mobility and choice of locations. Island Park and SE Idaho have been highlighted extensively over the past year. Many of the streams in this region are already crowded with anglers. I hope that your program can begin again to diversify the locations, rivers, lakes, etc that are highlighted in order to help spread out anglers and protect these incredible resources from being loved to death. There are so many great places to fish and many that should be left to each angler to discover for themselves. Again, thanks for a great show!
I stayed on Henry’s Lake in August 2018, I dragged my boat out from NJ, a day before I got there the Lake had a strong Algae bloom, everything shut down for the whole week I was there! So heads up on the Algae blooms on the lake. Luckily it was more of a family Yellowstone vacation plus there’s a million other places for a fly fisher to fish in this incredible area. I can't wait to get back but have at least a month to explore the area more. Good luck everyone.
Interesting combo.. I caught my first 5lb+ trout on Henry's lake when I was 5, back in 1974.. Raised in SB county in younger life.. Surfed Al's boards back when he was the one making them..
Another great video and I really enjoy the DIY. We are fortunate to have several rivers that get Kokanee and it is so much fun it should be against the law. Pound for pound they can outfight a trout any day of the week.
This channel could become a deadly drinking game. You have to chug every time you hear a superlative ;) .... and on a more constructive note: if you love gorgeous water, stop by Big Springs which is the source of the Henry's Fork. Grab your camera.
Just chimed in a similar comment, as I'm married to a dermatologist and have a younger brother who has had a skin cancer removed. Guys with fair skin, burn before tanning (if at all) and personally, I'd rather fish than deal with the big "C".
Should be clarified. Stop by the local fly shop and buy some advice about the areas around. This isn’t a bad thing. I do not mean this as a negative thing I mean this is a good thing. Understand that they are a business and they’re trying to make money, and it is a trade you’re making: an item for information.

I love how mark is genuinely so excited to catch that salmon he’s usually not that giddy

That was some nice trout fishing and the Salmon was so cool....Excellent video. Thanks for sharing.
Oh my goodness Mark! That trick for tying the clinch knot in cold weather is a lifesaver. Fishing the Kenai in winter, I needed that.
Great segment. But Mark, I'm still wondering. What are the "right questions" to ask at the local fly shop???
Fishing with Al Merrick, wasn’t expecting that! Very cool!
Island park just moved to the top of my list for a trip this summer.

This is the best episode yet!
You know it's gonna be a good one when they start out with "come on get in the net you lil donkey "
So SICK! I'd love to catch a Kokanee on the fly too! I love the Hank too!
"I'm a disaster right now" 😂

I wish there were more commercials. The fishing is interrupting the advertisements.
Mark, have you ever fished Pyramid Lake in Nevada?
Not yet Maria... Not yet.
M
@@newflyfisher You got to make it someday, Mark! :) It's pretty cool!
The ESN is kinda bonkers huh
Can we get Mark a sunscreen sponsor?
I don't think it would matter since Orvis is a title sponsor and he was fishing a Sage on this show.

WTF is DIY... you mean fishing? --- Those of us that have never paid for a guide
