Underoath - Episode 2 - Hallelujah - The Making of Underoath's Voyeurist

- Опубліковано 28 вер 2024
- This episode explores the song “Hallelujah" through the mind of Aaron Gillespie. Aaron Gillespie is a one of a kind talent and an icon in the emo/hardcore scene. He is able to exert an extreme amount of both energy and emotional feeling as a singer, drummer and writer. He formed Underoath alongside Dallas Taylor in 1997 at 15 and has spent the last 25 years collaborating and chasing the magic of creating music, sounds and beats that make people "feel something". This episode explores how he thinks about that process in conversation with JJ Revel, who engineered Voyeurist, is Underoath's live mixing engineer and is the drummer for The Almost.

We absolutely need Chris’s scores as their own versions.
An album of just Aaron’s drum tracks would be sick too
I would kill for just the atmospheric parts of this album isolated!
I really feel what Aaron says about this album feeling like their second first album. Ive always had those thoughts about music and bands releasing their music over the years. So thankful for this whole project being a thing - I’m in love with this video series so far. Can’t wait for the rest!
I get chills whenever I see Aaron playing drums, his energy is crazy
Thank you so much for making this podcast. It’s making the record better, which I didn’t think was possible.
0:21:12 it would definitely be rad to make this record (and all your others) available as just Chris' tracks, I'm sure we'd hear so much we never even realized was there.
This, PLEASE
This album keeps growing, and growing, and growing on me. It’s so insane.
I won’t lie. Same. I was like wtf are they doing this is just them trying to sound like how they use to sound and missing the mark. Then the more I listen I keep finding new stuff to enjoy. Digital Ghost really helped look at this album with fresh eyes.
@@VNKNOWN_TX I haven’t listened to this album in a few months. I binge it like crazy when I do though m. You saying that is making me crave it
You have no idea how awesome it is that you guys are doing this series! One of the best series out there right now!
So great to have Knuckle Breakers and BC involved in producing this series! Matt is a great interviewer of fellow musicians. Keep ‘em coming :)
UO has always said that they will never make an album that sounds the same as the last and have lived up to that. One of the reasons they are my favorite band of all time.
Incredible song (and Album)! The "This is madness in my head"-part fits perfectly into the rest of the song even though it's so different, but at the same time a necessary part to improve the song as a whole! 😃 Well done guys 😍
This album slaps so hard
“This is madness maybe in my head” I get goosebumps every time I love it
Been waiting for this. Voyeurist is something else man. Best album of the year so far 👌
Loving these videos! Thank you so much for doing them. I am really looking forward to the rest ❤️
"Dune Soundtrack" is exactly what I see when I listen to this song.
Great episode, very informative about what to expect from a producer, or even what to look for. Love to hear it.
it was 2004 on the sidestage of warped tour : )
Is there a way to hear the demo tracks from this album? I'd love to be able to check those out
They should put it up on SoundCloud
One of my faves on the album, and the one that is the most underoath to me
Where can I get Digital Ghost copy?
There was an option to download it when they last aired it, hope they put it up for streaming
“What is voyeurist the record is the pre pro.” 🤯🤯.
Can they get the octopus hoodie in a large? I would buy it right now
🤘
Isn't "I'm the desperate, and you're the savior" the chorus of breathing in a new mentality (elephant stampede)?
#releasethechriscut 😆😆
In Spanish please, for Latinoamerica
Can't wait for the dive into 'Thorn', my favorite track off the album.
It needs a music video. Or take a breath
a LOT of soundcloud "emo rap" (I didn't make the name) including lil peep who has sampled UO, gives producer credit simply to the person who made the beat, and I'm sure they mixed and mastered. But definitely didn't tell the artist what to do and I love that.
It’s impossible to explain how much I LOVE THIS RECORD. It really does feel like their “second first-record.” It’s got so many elements that make Underoath who they are as a band, and we did not get that with Erase Me. We did not get that with Disambiguation. Both are great records, but Voyeurist has this feeling of totality like their “big 3” records did. Can’t stop listening.
Well now I wanna hear this “night ghosts” idea as a song.
Aaron thinks a lot. I think. lol 😂
18:50 - 19:29 love that part
Long live Matt Carter. 🫀
It makes me sad this only has 325 likes.. 😔 imagine if oldunderoath came out today. Love the new album boyz
'God. You have a beer?' lmaoooo I'm ded
Ohhh wow I didn't even know they were putting out new material...their last album blew nuts!
Honestly I didn't care for it either but Voyeurist is the comeback album I wanted. It's excellent imo.
This song is so good, the layers in it are insane
😎
