This should be recommended to more people, not only is it good but a video like this shows just how dire the situation actually is in Detroit. Its insane that we've let the motor city devolve into a land on fire!
I remember as a kid 30 plus years ago, Channle 7 news reported about the tourist flying in to watch devils night burnings. I was sitting up with my grandpa watching the news with him. I thought it had gotten better over the years.
I was in Greektown that night with some robotic paint delivery suppliers from France. They couldn't believe it when we finished dinner and stepped out on Monroe. Sirens where going off in seemingly every direction.
These are abandoned buildings, which Detroit has plenty of. I don't live in Detroit (no one does lol) but I live nearby on the safe side of 8 mile and trust me these arsonists are doing the work the city wont do
Wow, thank YOU, to hear it from someone who endures it makes me feel better about how I put the video together. Very sensitive world to try and document and I tried not to do so lightly.
Great video man. I recently went to Detroit and I was wondering why there were so many abandoned, & burned down houses. Now I understand why!! What a shame to the citizens who destroy their own city. That city is beautiful! don't take it for granted. This is coming from someone who lives in Miami FL. - David not Daniella Lol
Great video Jordan keep up the great work and next time follow your own advise, TAKE A FRIEND don't want to see you get hurt and no one is around to help you, or at the VERY LEAST take a charged cell phone with ya thanks again for posting and stay safe
I have lived 30 miles north of Detroit my entire life. In 1950 there were 2 million residents, today there are 600,000. There are 100,000 abandoned structures including most of the highrise buildings downtown. This is a multifaceted problem with blame to go all around. The fire and police department's are woefully understaffed, yet the city council has as many members as it did in 1950. The taxes are out rageous, the school's are defucnt and there is no end in sight. In 50 years, there will be nothing but the highrise empty buildings downtown. There are currently 60 of the 130 square miles vacant of houses and no builder will even consider putting in a subdivision, even though you can buy a block for a dollar and the infrastructure is all in. Its is a welfare city and none of the news media or politicians will admit the residents are burning it down. Nothing will fix this because bussiness will have nothing to do witb the city governments demands of red tape.
How tf could u be the culprit in killing someone or even an animal thru fire?! That is some really really sick stuff! being a Firefighter in Detroit is much better then most cities. First of all, over 95% of calls the FF knows it's gonna be a situation of controlling the perimeter of the fire and going into the fire isn't needed as one can see just by watching all the UA-cam videos. All the other cities when a call comes those FF know they are probably going in to save lives. Because Detroit is soo baron a Fire truck has very little problem getting to a call. Other cities, fire trucks have to deal with cars, commercial traffic, buses and hoards of pedestrians and busy intersections on the way to the scene and then there are issues with street traffic and parked cars around the fire and fire hydrant and all the looky-lues and media. It's really a completely different experience. The big one is in functioning cities the majority of fires are accidental and there are many lives at risk. In Detroit it's mostly arson and there is nobody around the scene. I don't take away the hard work and bravery of the Men and Woman in the DFD I am pointing out the differences btwn the two. Unfortunately Detroit was finished back in the 70's and all there has been left to do is to burn down what is left. Mayor Bing offered the city the last best life saver of a possible "smart city" by concentrating it and building infrastructure to a new, smaller, beautiful Detroit with smarter apt buildings and even a subway system but the residents blasted his idea (Detropia) and chased him away.

I have my doubts, if republicans are crazy enough to storm the Whitehouse on January 2021, then they'll definitely be crazy enough to set fire to property for no good reason.

The city went from 1.8 million to a population of 400k. Most houses in the are were built in the 1950's~ so they are loaded with lead and asbestos then were abandoned in the 80's so when the roofs rotted away they were filled with black mold. A lot of people feel contempt because they had a house get repossessed either by the bank or more commonly by the city/county over unpaid taxes (property taxes have a maximum they can be adjusted so while your house might have lost 10% of its value the taxes will only go down by like 1% per a year leaving many homes valued at $20k paying $5K in taxes every year) who then sold it to a bank for pennies on the dollar, the banks then pay little to no taxes on it through special arrangements and let it fall into total dilapidation which kills the value on all neighboring homes. So fuck it. If nobody will foot the bill to tear down these dangerous eyesores (mold/asbestos/lead paint cost a ton of $$$ to tear down), the city gains nothing from them (no tax revenue), and the people suffer..... burn it. Especially when you hear about a body getting dumped there or a child getting hurt there.

It’s definitely nowhere near as bad as it once was, but still so bad, there was 20 box alarms the other day on a weekday. Just crazy!
You had the CALM period bro.... 800 fires were set at the peak in 1984!
That’s crazy even as of 2019 they said 7 structure fires a day so it’s really not that calm 😭

I wouldn't be surprised if there is a resurgence of devils night this year in 2020, considering everything going on.
That’s a good point I didn’t think of that... hopefully not
