When Elvis heard the Beatles he realized they actually had musical talent and he was afraid his gig was up. Everything the Beatles did is classic, while 98% of Elvis music hasn't aged well at all.
To be fair, an artist not writing their own songs was very common before and during Elvis’ time. The Beatles were one of the acts that were very influential in changing that, but even they did some covers on their early albums.

Elvis refused to stay at a Hotel or even do a show in the town, when he found out that his Black backup singers were not allowed to stay at the same Hotel.
I remember when I was young, I didn’t understand things like this. But now at 35 with 3 kids, I actually completely understand what Elvis is talking about, even though it’s not actually explained properly in this clip.
I would take this with a grain of salt. The Beatles idolized Elvis as young teens and Elvis went on to cover one of their songs. I don’t think Elvis despised them in the least bit.
Elvis didn't hate the Beatles. They were already being tracked by the government just because they were such a huge success. He just used that as a ruse to get Nixon to get the badge he wanted.
Elvis was pissed off at John Lennon when The Beatles were Invited to his mansion and John had the balls in a good way to kind of bust Elvis balls by saying something like Hey dude, what have you’ve been up to lately eh!? You’re not the same Elvis that I grew up to admire and idolize, you’re not doing the rock and roll thing anymore like before, now you singing either religious songs or non - rock tunes like before, you inspired us , you were our hero, but I think you lost it. ( just get the idea ). So I think that Elvis knew he was telling him the truth but was in denial about it, and it really must have touched a bad nerve to him, as an insult instead as a reality check.
I don't know why Elvis did that but i love Elvis more than the Beatles that's for sure!
Elvis will always be the King of Rock & Roll! A great title, and he deserves it. The Beatles became more popular than him. But so what, The Beatles could care less. They can't help it. I will always love both. 💘
Elvis went to Tricky Dick to fight corruption and the drug problem? But, Elvis was on so many drugs himself that he could have opened a pharmacy in his name!
He had a shit ton of health problems inherrited from his mom's side of the family that he took prescriptions for but his doctor over prescribed him a lot. Elvis never did street drugs.
Elvis visited Nixon at The White House in 1973 NOT 1970.
December 1970
Sounds like Harley Davidson back when Japanese bikes were big in the US
The US military got Elvis addicted to speed and that speed pretty well helped kill him.
So what was the Anti American theme the beatles produced?
Anti war (Vietnam)
Lennon, anti war .
Incredibly talented man, but seemed to have an exaggerated sense of self-importance.
Yes sir ma’am . Elvis would not share his 5 pound bacon , 12 ounce peanut butter banana trunk long sandwich with nobody. Thank you very mustard
When he saw A Hard Days Night which was a brilliant comedic film that satirised the Beatles themselves with no actual plot, Elvis wondered why he wasn’t doing these sort of films instead of the inane movies he was contracted into doing.
He probably just resented The Beatles because they were on another level entirely with their music whilst he had overnight become a relic.
Elvis is the king.
When Elvis heard the Beatles he realized they actually had musical talent and he was afraid his gig was up. Everything the Beatles did is classic, while 98% of Elvis music hasn't aged well at all.
The drug user talking about drug users
Before Elvis there was Frank Sinatra. And fans of Sinatra hated Elvis Presley. Funny how that works.
Imagine if Elvis were still alive to hear Taylor Swift. He would say "Beatles, sorry for my jealousy. I take back everything I said about you."
Proof of insanity
Yeah Elvis had some mental health issues and problems with drug abuse and mental illness
I wouldn’t trade Elvis’s lil pinky finger for the whole kit and kabootle of Beatles.
terribly ignorant
Late 2010s music really sucked, thank god 2020s have been so good so far.
How did Elvis thought the Beatles were a threat, when they broke up in 1970? Elvis was 4 or 5 years too late.
Elvis was only human...weeding out his competition..was a smart move...but it didn't work 😂
It wasn't that . Priscilla said that Elvis liked the Beatles. He used them to get the badge he wanted from Nixon.
The Beatles a negative influence? Omg! The propaganda never ends.
Well.... they did influence Charles Manson (Helther Skelter) 😂
Not only the beatles,he despised every band that had success
Here's what you guys need to understand, this video is very misleading.
Elvis did all of this to get a badge. He collected them.
Well documented that he was envious of the Beatles … they came on the scene as his popularity waned… everyone KNOWS that
Elvis forever
Ngl elvis had a valid point but at the same time I wouldn’t listen to a guy that aint even write his own songs🤣
To be fair, an artist not writing their own songs was very common before and during Elvis’ time. The Beatles were one of the acts that were very influential in changing that, but even they did some covers on their early albums.
