I'm not sure most of you realize how good this guy is....this tune is INCREDIBLY difficult to pull-off. Hitting this range vocally, playing and singing simultaneously, etc. Great talent, this guy. Kudos dude.
I don't have a good musical ear (well I do but it's not for these uses)--is this tuned in Kim Thayil's DDDDFe or whatever it was? I never tried to play anything he did because of such a thing.
>Sees thumbnail - some kid, might as well take a look >Starts playing - ok, you have some guitar skills, I'll give you that >Starts singing - HOLY SHIT My respect, mate. Great cover, even greater voice.
You understand the soul behind this music. You capture the spirit of what these guys were doing in the late 90s/ early 2000s. I'm smiling hearing you hit the highs. Rock on brother. Love from Melbourne, Australia.
"Almost" lol. It's literally better. Cornell was a studio artist and wrote vocal lines that were too demanding for him to perform accurately every night and practically all of soundgardens live videos are a testament to this. This dude is genuinely incredible, his timing and pitch are at a level most of your favorite artists probably aspire to be. No disrespect to Cornell, obviously.
Better? Chris in his prime dominated these songs. But these songs are like asking a professional athlete to give their top performance every session and Chris sang for how many years? This guy is great, but he's also brute forcing the notes and the tonality stays the same throughout. Chris had a wide range of tonality and a haunting voice at times. Chris's version tells more of a story than this rendition. This version, though masterful in its own right is lacking storytelling/soul through tonality.
He was going for the same intensity that Chris Cornell had on the recording, as in his live shows he doesn't sound nearly that intense. This guy nailed it.
I wish he would’ve went for It more in his audioslave days. I was just a youngster, didn’t really get deeply into his music until they’d already been broken up. But yeah, a lot of the live performances he doesn’t reach for his chest voice.
@@reggiebanksrb10 Wow, 12 years flies by pretty quick. anyway, there's a couple live versions from 1996 where he basically sings as high as on the recording. He sings them slightly differently but it's pretty close, especially the chorus of this song.
I've been consistently been going back to this performance for years now as a reference. This guy's cover seriously holds up. Genuinely one of the best "One person, One guitar" covers out on YT. (adding comment at about the 100th time watching over years)
Chris must been seeing from up incredible bro very hard to play n sing-along n very close to the original keep it up bro gives me goosebumps n also my fav Soundgarden song
No words dude, not only do you sound very close to chris, and have the same groove but your playing the friggen song while doing it,havent looked for others but has to be the best cover on youtube.
I can't believe this guy!!! I wish i would have found you sooner, but at least i did. You are the best I've ever heard bro. You're vocals in ever single song you do are on the money. Actually i think you sound better than the originals!! I wish i could even come close to sounding that damn good. You need to be famous dude. By far the best ive heard. Rock on brother!!!!
wow... you found your way back into my algorithm over 10 years later... I tried so hard to sing this tune after seeing this the first time... still no chance!!! This ages really well dude!!!
Anyone else caught off guard when he started to sing? And then blown away when you realized he was pulling it off? Don’t know about y’all but this might be one of the most amazing covers I’ve ever heard. I mean, this is Chris fucking Cornell we’re talking about here. Few even try to cover his vocals. Well done young man. Well done.
Nate101, incredible performance. My favorite artist of all time, and you nailed it. Would love to have the pipes to do this song justice. Keep up the great work. Not many people out there can pull off Chris Cornell like you can!!!!
I've listened to this at least 2-3 times a week for the past 11 years. I learned to play it from watching him. when he plays covers from my childhood all my problems just fade away for a while. THANK YOU! I love your channel and livestreams!
Damn. I was looking for covers of this song, found this one, and wasn't really expecting much. I'm blown away. Holy shit. From your soul, dude. I know you posted this like 11 years ago now, but it you ever check in on the comments still, I just want you to know that i think you do that song proper. Fucking-A, well played.
Powerfull!!!!!!!!! I shot my love today would you cry for me I lost my head again would you lie for me I left her in the sand just a burden in my hand I lost my head again would you cry for me Thanx for your covers on Soundgarden! Thea are best!

+natew101 right on man .... I was checking out all your other videos ... you're a grunge dude . I am too . lemme know if you have a band of your own . I'd love to check it out .
I remember seeing this years ago, I made a cd of it and played it in my car. I am astonished that this video doesn't have at least 1 million views. WTF. The voice is on point and guitar playing is good. I admire this.
I was at a gig a few days after Chris died and someone played this song and I instantly started crying, and now this song always reminds me of how I felt then and how I'll never meet Chris or listen to him in person. I didn't listen to it for a long time and now started crying before he started singing. So much love for Natew and for Chris for being so wonderful
Nate every time I listen to you do this I'm blown away. I'd give anything to have a strong young front man with blazing vocal talent in my band like you. I'm subscribing to you brother! Keep it up
Please tell me that over the past five years you have made it out of your spare bedroom into a studio somewhere or at least in a good band or SG tribute?
im female and i wanted to learn this... im sick over this song... but this guy is doing it for me.... i hope hes not a bedroom musician.. i doubt it the way he moves with his guitar...not shy
Jon Karch That this gentlemen's rendition is so fantastic yet sounds flat compared to The Man's (CC) is just a simple testament to the bizarre level of talent exhibited by the original performer (...and composer wTF)
+Aric Braaten Or the fact he had an entire damn professional production studio behind the released album to tweak every sound maybe... Eh? I can appreciate constructive criticism as much as the next guy, but your comparison of "flat" is more than just slightly biased to the relevant demonstration by this guy who simply nailed the delivery. Obviously my opinion takes nothing away from the Cornell by the way.
I'm not sure most of you realize how good this guy is....this tune is INCREDIBLY difficult to pull-off. Hitting this range vocally, playing and singing simultaneously, etc. Great talent, this guy. Kudos dude.
jsmed07 totally agree, this is beyond possible....
Agreed. Really powerfull voice.
jsmed07 honestly, I think he did Cornell better than Cornell. Not an insult to Cornell--he was pretty much the best rock and roll front man ever.
hes awesome
I don't have a good musical ear (well I do but it's not for these uses)--is this tuned in Kim Thayil's DDDDFe or whatever it was? I never tried to play anything he did because of such a thing.

i did the same right now :)

Yeah because its very hard to sing that high and not good for the vocal cords
Maybe the guy in the video took 100 times to record it and post it not the same on live show
I'm from Argentina, and as a singer and a Chris Cornell fan I shout out loud.....WOOOOOWWWW!!!!! YOU'VE BLOWN MY HEAD OFF!!!! GREAT VOCALS DUDE!!!
