@@thatonekid9754 it is difficult though....extremely difficult. I haven't heard anyone do it justice. None of Whitney's songs are difficult to sing. You may not have her range or tone but melodically and rhythmically Whitney's songs are pretty straight forward and easy to understand how to sing her songs. Brandy on the other hand, switches her tone and manipulates her vowels. She is a melismatic singer. She also focuses on the rhythm of her lyrics and the articulation mimicking whatever is going on with the musical instrumentation and using her voice as an extension of it.
I love to see this because growing up I always felt like she didn’t get the praise she deserved but she grew her catalog grew her voice grew, it’s great to see people feel the same as I’ve always felt.
How is she the vocal "bible"? This is some title she has picked up well after her career peak since when she was actually on the charts most didn't consider her much of a singer. I think that may be because there were such great voices on the scene at that time (Whitney, Mariah, Celine) and she was so young. Must be the 90s nostalgia.
@@direfranchement actually the nickname was given first to her album full moon produced by rodney and then it evolved to people actually calling her that

The best video showing off Brandy’s voice and reactions of artists. You did that! I agree she has nothing else to prove but we want her to come with the ish on this next album! I’m ready to buy my two copies.🙌🏾🙌🏾🥰♥️♥️
Range and voice type are 2 different things. Trust me, I've gone back and forth over Brandy. Even tho her range reaches a little lower and she belts in a mixed voice, not a true head voice, she does not have the voice of a mezzo. She doesn't. Her voice fades, doesn't have the roundness and presence all mezzos have. The sound also gets lost in her lower register, that's a tell tale sign of a lyrics soprano. She would sing with the 2nd sopranos in a choir, not the altos. U wouldn't be able to hear her
Sean Jenkins Sorry, Brandy is a lyric mezzo. Your tessitura generally determines your fach. Her range comfortably sits between G3 and A5, though she’s goes lower. Her voice loses quality as she goes higher. That wouldn’t happen to a lyric soprano. Lyric mezzos are described as “smooth, sensitive, and lachrymose (sad).” That defines Brandy’s voice. Her rasp and agility come from her singing off-voice, in a sort of mix. I can see how that might make you think she’s a lyric soprano singing low in her range, but her tessitura would have to be from middle C to D6... No way middle C is the bottom of her range.
Something that has been missing out of the Brandy “Vocal Bible” conversation is singer/songwriter Rahsaan Patterson’s influence on Brandy’s vocal styling. Rahsaan wrote and produced on Brandy’s first album and im telling you now alot of those riffs and runs have Rahsaan ALL OVER IT. I’m almost positive that it’s how Rahsaan sung the songs on the demo/reference track, and Brandy sung it just like he did. She used the style, took it, ran with it, remixed it a bit on later albums and here we are. But lets put Rahsaan Patterson’s name in the conversation and give the brother some credit.
Same 🤔... it’s confusing to me since I never viewed Brandy as a vocalist. She harmonizes well and has a nice sweet voice tho. I really hope someone respond...
@@kw6724 vocal bible is her influence in others the music industry wouldn’t be what it is today without Brandy. It takes a very trained ear to see why Brandy is called the Vocal Bible her runs her tone her riffs is why. I mean Whitney Houston loved her voice and thought that Brandy would be the next her.
@@kw6724 she is definitely a vocalist. She is a technical singer. Her vocals come before everything when she sings. Her approach to singing is why she is the vocal bible. She makes you listen. When I listen to Brandy I don't even care what the lyrics are. I get mesmerized by her voice. I can listen to a song of hers a thousand times and I will hear something different every time. Her vocal arrangements, especially when she harmonizes on certain words or phrases sounds like surround sound and its just her voice. Her musical ears blow me away. All of the stuff that she hears in her head and records in those backgrounds is just out of this world. She has influenced R&B, contemporary R&B, alternative R&B, Pop, techno, Gospel, and hip hop since her Never Say Never and Full Moon albums. For example, prior to the 2000s Madonna was the main influence of women in pop before the pop explosion in the 2000s with Britney Spears, Christina Aguilara, Pink etc having borrowed their singing style from Brandy. Next thing you know all the pop singers are singing pop songs that sound like R&B songs with the way they were singing and "running" all over the place. Brandy has been given credit for that. Brandy doesn't use auto tune. She achieves an electronic sound to her vocals by singing multiple takes the exact same way and then stacking all of the tracks together. Everyone started doing that and when autotune came out, artists in r&b and hip hop especially began duplicating her signature sound that she had from stacking her vocals. I could go on and on with how influential and significant she has been to the music industry since 1998.

“Have you ever” is LITERALLY one of the hardest songs to sing ever! Nobody can really sing that song like brandy.
Have you seen Matt Bloyd's version? It's not better than the original but you should check it out?!
I really dont believe its thats difficult to sing tho...TRY singing One of Whitney songs that's hard.....the definition of STRUGGLE

Brandy is a lyric soprano with a lower set tesatura. She's crafted a layered and complex mid register. The master of the background vocal harmonies

so brandy isn’t the vocal bible because she doesn’t scream out high notes???……right. there’s more to singing than that, please respect her gift.
