- This is The Lord is King [Carpatho-Russian Chant, arr. P. Jannakos] sung by St. Vladimir Alumni and Mary's men’s choir led by Deacon Gregory Ealy.
At St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral in Minneapolis.
11/4/2016, Alumni & Friends of St. Vladimir’s Orthodox Seminary Concert.
One of my favorite Orthodox Christian hymns. There is no other God that is ribe in majesty.
Thank you for uploading this! Need a 8 hour version hahaha May god bless your parish. Love from Guelph, Ontario Canada!
My favourite hymn. Beautiful rendition, beautiful voices from very talented and gifted people! Glory to God!
america we gotyou !
What's the point of always announcing what tone you're chanting in? Just an fyi, the byzcaths dont do it and it sounds more professional. Not trying to be mean. I just dont get it.
It is simply the tradition we have received. Nothing dogmatic about it.
We don't take cues from papists.
Tone number doesn't need to be announced IF you're all reading music... however, if the choir is singing from pointed text, it's a helpful reminder... if the congregation is ALSO singing, they may need the cue...
ALSO, the tone of the prokeimenon can be different from an alleluia so... it's good everyone is on board.
Yikes
The Chanting in Greek Style does actually say what Tone it is in if you listen carefully. The reader will say a phrase to indicate which tone it is in.
Just not "The Prokeminon is in X Tone".
