Isn't it interesting Connor how a country which apparently has separated church and state, continues to have the most religion influenced legislation and attitudes. Whereas here in Britain, we have a "state" religion, the Church of England (Anglican) is the state church with the Queen as the Supreme Governor, however our legislation ignores religion and allows abortion rights, full LGBTQ+ rights etc. This is a point made by the great actor Stephen Fry.

Connor makes this issue seem so straightforward- and that's mostly because it is. It's just sad that so many people (particularly those in positions of power) can't see that.
it's sad that many people view a preborn child as a fucking PARASITE. a parasite is ONE organism feeding off a DIFFERENT organism. this is a human being feeding off/growing inside another human being. i agree abortions should be accessible to anyone who needs/deserves one, but comparing a fetus to a fucking bug is absolutely beyond me. it's disgusting.

The supreme court actually absolutely does understand that and they're fully using it to their advantage. They're hiding under guise of "saving lives" to prevent women and a specific group of people from gaining power, keep them in poverty, and suppress their rights to vote and ownership etc (especially if they're convicted) it's disgusting and cruel and fucked up😞

But you only want to hear our views if they are pro-choice, right? I don't agree with abortion because I believe that all life is sacred, including those of as yet unborn children. There is nothing natural about terminating a pregnancy. Without modern science it would be impossible to do so safely. That should tell you something.

@@justbelieve4258 If all life is sacred then why tf would you risk thousands of women getting uncontrolled, dangerous abortions out of desperation, why would you support their lives being turned upside down because of a child they never wanted (I know women who have had to bear the children of rape), why would you be okay with a child being born into an abusive household because the parents are unable to take care of the child etc. That argument is so shallow and spoken right from a place of privilege. Men SHOULD speak on the topic and everyone has a right to their own opinion but if you are unable to emphasize with women who are the actual victims of this situation then the points you make are just not valid. Men have been deciding over womens bodies for centuries- it should be their time to listen.

In our timezone the abortion laws in the US happend the same day, that a person i Oslo killed two people and hurt multiple in a LGBT+ area (with openly LGBT+ bars and so). I had to explain fascism to AN ELEVEN YEAR OLD the day before yesterday.
On one hand she understands and also used inclusive language when discussing abortion rights and the rise of facism with me. She even expressed desire to one day attend a protest.
She also understands that her mom is wrong about vaccines (my sister is anti-vax). Which all gives me a little hope that maybe the kids are, a little bit, alright.
But it also saddens me on the deepest possible level. She's 11, and she already feels like she has to FIGHT just to get/keep the rights to her own body. She's ELEVEN, and she feels like she should be protesting. She can't just be a kid and worry about kid problems like who is dating who in school or how she'll talk to her crush (if she has one).
But no, she has to worry about her fundamental rights being stripped away.
Right now abortion is still legal (with a few stupid restrictions) in NC. But her and I fear for the day when it might not be.
The kids won't be alright until we give them a world where they are safe to be.
The kids can't be alright when they have to fear every day for their safety. Fear every day what right will be stripped from them next before they're even old enough to vote. Many, many kids can't even feel safe calling the cops in an emergency, because the cops could hurt them or their families more than help.
We need to give the kids a world where they can be safe. Where they can be alright.
Not a world where I have to explain to an eleven year old that she now has less rights than a GODDAMN CORPSE.
