    Expenses in retirement are likely less IF you pay off your mortgage, AND you were saving hard for retirement, before hand. SS is cheapest annuity for longevity insurance, so plan to max it and take it at 70, which is typically also better for spouse and gives bigger roll over window to reduce RMD and taxes. Eat your broccoli and get an EKG.

    The last four years have been a retirement wreck because of inflation. I know the market usually goes up but everything has jumped in cost much more than 3-6% that the Fed says it has. Gasoline, groceries , out of control housing prices. It is just too much at one time.
