How does he do the rolls where the longitudinal axis is pointed at one attitude? Is it just a back and forth between left and right rudder? Example of this is at 2:56
The goal is to control where lift is going at all times. So there's use of rudder to prevent the nose from dropping while at knife-edge as well as elevator usage to keep the line when upright and inverted. Keeping the roll straight is one of the more challenging and rewarding maneuvers in aerobatics. Once that's perfected, it can be combined with other components to create more maneuvers.
It's quite a common maneuver in the Rc world. I guess full scale aerobatic pilots look at the models to see if it could be done. But believe it or not Jurgis Kairys was doing it before the models.

Does Rob teach at UND ? I could do this rolling harrier stuff with RC, but never even tried with full scale.
