laziest band that ever existed. like what 3 albums worth of material in about 15 years? and sometimes they couldn’t even be arsed writing a new song so just play one backwards and call it a new song
yep 1 decent album (stone roses), a good b sides collection (turns into stone) and a half arsed album that doesn't flow properly (second coming) getting back together in 2009, it took 7 years to write a nursery rhyme
Saw John Squire walking through Chorlton a while ago pushing a pram presumably his grandchild and all the trendy young students didn't have a fucking clue who he was!! Best guitarist of his generation. Sound lad too. What a time to be young in the mid 80s top music, fashion, football was still a working class catwalk and the best no social fucking media...MCFC M20
Just my guess at these early lyrics: The hardest thing in the world Apollon tales in a breeze I’d like the flower to spring Waiting for a perfect day So I can get in your way And there’s a chance that I must see That I must see, see fore it fizzles away I need to reach enormous heights So I can get in your way In your way, I know no one wants you around I’m on this Earth I plan to stay I won’t lie in the ground So much for me, so much to be I cannot lie in the ground The impression I get as the story unfurls that you’re the hardest thing in the world In the ground, I know your girls mess you around On my knees a rainy day, it seems so far away, cannot grasp the things I need, I am out here and happy In the ground, I know your girls mess you around, The hardest thing in the world
Really like the levels here on this version; backing vocals clearer, lead vocals even are clearer, guitar cleaner. Sometimes you don’t need to keep polishing diamonds.
From a technical (and feel) perspective - Reni was fucking LIGHT YEARS ahead of the rest of the band back then as a player...also a better singer than Ian Brown (while playing the drums)...
I remember reading a quote from John around the time of the initial split... it was something like “When we first started out none of us could play except reni, hes the only talented one”
@@-cityinthesky99 Reni had a lightness of touch, subtlety, looseness & a natural exuberance to his playing that can't be taught - always a joy to hear him play.
Yeah mate that is Page. Squire has commented on the influence he had on him a few times. And they seem to get on very well, they have been photographed together at a few occasions and Squire was photographed by Pages daughter for an exhibition!
The hardest thing in the world Holland it don't please I never wanted to leave Searching for a perfect day It never happens that way Ahey hey hey I'm sick and tired It's so obscene Will heaven help me be clean? Searching for a perfect day It never happens that way Ahey hey hey Cut away, I know no one wants you around You never heard a word I said It's seems simple to me That if you knew you wouldn't say It never happens that way Ahey hey hey And the impression I get As the story unfurls Is that you're the hardest thing in the world Cut away, I know no one wants you around What you feel might not be It seems softer to me I cannot climb to touch your spire I'm getting higher and higher Cut away, I know no one wants you around The hardest thing in the world
In my youth we listened & often disagreed with each other. Literally no source. No one cared. When the internet was invented I recall looking up lyrics of some of my favourites & preferred my mangled misheard versions! Sometimes it’s how it makes you feel which is the real meaning. Don’t matter what the words in English say. Pure love, these guys. As Ian Brown would say at interviews after, don’t dig for dirt, it was a time of good & of love. Remember that.
The Stone Roses had most of their material for their debut album years before they got a deal. Even ‘Adored’ was played and performed in 86. So why couldn’t they make more music? Even when they got back together for five years, they could only churn out two average tunes.
Ian brown said theyd write all the time but theyd scrap stuff if it sounded like other bands, he said they wrote stuff then realised it sounded like 'day tripper' for example. Theyve a few unreleased songs too, 'sun still shines' 'your time will come' 'mr shy talk' probably more weve never heard of.
I think the guy in green with the big thing on his head is Don Letts. He was a dj supporting the Clash in the 70s. When they split, he went on to form Big Audio Dynamite with Mick Jones.

Sounded good though
Fucking amazing tho, better b sides than most ' harder working bands ' biggest hits

Second coming us a great album. Toned down guitars just a little on some songs would be even better
A lazy band still being talked about 30 years later, not bad for four cocky Mancs who never really cared.

Just my guess at these early lyrics:
The hardest thing in the world
Apollon tales in a breeze
I’d like the flower to spring
Waiting for a perfect day
So I can get in your way
And there’s a chance that I must see
That I must see, see fore it fizzles away
I need to reach enormous heights
So I can get in your way
In your way, I know no one wants you around
I’m on this Earth I plan to stay
I won’t lie in the ground
So much for me, so much to be
I cannot lie in the ground
The impression I get as the story unfurls that you’re the hardest thing in the world
In the ground, I know your girls mess you around
On my knees a rainy day, it seems so far away, cannot grasp the things I need, I am out here and happy
In the ground, I know your girls mess you around,
The hardest thing in the world
I’m glad someone uploaded this version The Lemon Album!
Fuck me, is Cressa actually just Karl Pilkington.....or is it the other way round?!

Word!!! 🍋
The roses are awesome. No one came close to them back in the day and very very few have came close since.

They were stuck in a shite contract for years
I'm on this earth I plan to stay
Quality song thanks for uploading
you mean imploding?
Both versions of this are epic tunes😍😍😍
Love that this is so beatlesque
This version sounds like a more straight ahead rocker. Especially with those driving drums.
I won't lyin the ground
At 0.28 is that Jimmy Page ? Always thought Page was a massive influence on Squire , you can hear it all over Second Coming
Yeah mate that is Page. Squire has commented on the influence he had on him a few times. And they seem to get on very well, they have been photographed together at a few occasions and Squire was photographed by Pages daughter for an exhibition!
0.24 'Mani's like, quick Johns smiling!!' 😂😎😄
Slightly slower tempo than the album version works much better here
Happy piano house in a north west club bootleg roses cassette in the car on the way home love was so good back then
This is the first time I listen to this. Thank you for sharing
really like this version
I’m glad to know FBI, thank you for your opinion👍🏿
This song is minted
I'm on this earth I plan to stay 😍
The hardest thing in the world
Holland it don't please
I never wanted to leave
Searching for a perfect day
It never happens that way
Ahey hey hey
I'm sick and tired
It's so obscene
Will heaven help me be clean?
Searching for a perfect day
It never happens that way
Ahey hey hey
Cut away, I know no one wants you around
You never heard a word I said
It's seems simple to me
That if you knew you wouldn't say
It never happens that way
Ahey hey hey
And the impression I get
As the story unfurls
Is that you're the hardest thing in the world
Cut away, I know no one wants you around
What you feel might not be
It seems softer to me
I cannot climb to touch your spire
I'm getting higher and higher
Cut away, I know no one wants you around
The hardest thing in the world
Where can I find the lyrics to this version?
it's so old + a demo so there's probably no place to find the lyrics
Just listen to it I guess?

Magic only happens once, mate.
The moment was long gone...
More productive with the original 5 🤣 love how mani is splashed on all the early stuff 🤔
They released a dozen albums after the breakup, secondly those two songs are average only for the deaf for the music, otherwise they are masterful.

Can someone upload something like this for the Click track as well

I KNOW YOUR GIRL SPINS YOU AROUND
Not imploding yet again = the hardest thing in the world.
The most overrated band in history, if not the most, along with The Smiths.
the demos are always s hite with every band
this is mint
This demo is much better than the final version.
