    I wish I would have found your video earlier. The last time I worked on replacing the bearings on a similar Speed Queen machine, it was a pain and we needed 2 people just to remove the bearing housing.

    Love your videos. Very educational and entertaining, keep it up. But not sure what your hangup with metric is. Metric is so much simpler and makes life much easier. (Just because the French use metric doesn't mean it's bad, although I suppose that could be counted as one strike against it :).

      I use a dead blow hammer. Once the bolt can reach threads I use it to tighten on. Hopefully the shift is not mushroom out.

    Even the big Ryobi one will do it, can do a full brake job on my Ram 2500, all 32 lug nuts off and back on, on one of the large batteries. Have done some more challenging stuff with it too.

    What do you do if shaft has a worn groove in shaft bearing has a lot of slop if so wasting your time until fixing shaft .

    • @FollowingKeenan
      @FollowingKeenan  Рік тому

      Shaft has a sleeve. You can heat or cut that sleeve off. I've change a few sleeves because of so rough it would take out seal. Sleeves are like 50 bucks or so.
      You can pull drum, buy a sleeve and have a mechanic put it on. I have a video where i show doing it. Hope that helps!

    • @FollowingKeenan
      @FollowingKeenan  Рік тому

      If your grooves outaide the sleeve area. Then if not too bad you have a machine shop fix it. Drums for washers new are like $2000 to $2500.

    Hey how you doing sir? Question what pulley puller you use to pull the drum back in to housing?

    • @FollowingKeenan
      @FollowingKeenan  3 роки тому +2

      When i have the basket out i just push it on. Then i use a long bolt, cut section of 2" pipe and flat washer to tighten on hub where pully normally goes.As it tighten it will pull basket in rest of the way. Speed queen sells a tool for it. I've never needed it. Its basically a bolt, flat washer and cut sections of 2" pipe.
      Hope that helped.

      @@FollowingKeenan yea thank i was assume in it but the mechanic the goes to the laundry i work tells me you can’t the you need special tools. why not just use a long reach socket to brake the nut free no torch needed i have never had to heat my lock nuts to get them loose:)

    • @FollowingKeenan
      @FollowingKeenan  3 роки тому +2

      You can to start. Heat so lock nut is easier to remove. Once the bolt can turn. If the lock nut wasnt there i could take very easly. So the heat helps reduce the friction, to make it easier.
      You could do with out heat, would be more of a pain.

    @davidvanco5462 2 роки тому

    What not to do video. Do it the correct way and pull the cylinder out. Never use vice grips on thread bolts. Buy a complete rebuild kit and change the bearings and shaft all at once, and as usual seal kit. Most of the time that front bearing is first to go, so do a complete rebuild and be done with it.

    • @FollowingKeenan
      @FollowingKeenan  2 роки тому

      Nice! I did change both bearings and seals. I just remove the trunion out the back. I only change the shaft sleeve if need be. Also i only pull drum out front if i need to do a sleeve.
      Kit over priced. I just hate to see people waste time and money.
