As a long time Yngwie fan I think it's time for the Johannson brothers to kick this guy in the ass and get him back on track. Get a high profile singer back in the group and push Yngwie to tighten up his playing. It will never happen though.
As the old empires rise and fall, yngwie already was, and will never be as in the 80s or 90s but I still love his fast and emotive way of playing, I have also been a yngwie fan for a long time and I get very deep
Yes, I find him boring too, afor the past decade or so....he is simply not that artist we knew in the eighties and early to mid nineties...something happened....same songs but different sound...just compare this to Live in Leningrad.....
A pile of Marshall heads which he never used, JVMs, JCM2000, 900, etc. Rented dummies, just for the sake of visual. In fact, only one Plexi maybe, seems to be connected. I love Yngwie but never liked that kind of Kiss or Slayer attitude. Ritchie Blackmore or Hendrix two of his biggest influences never had that dummy habit.
Malmsteen plays like he’s in a rush to get home to watch the super bowl or something . Just erratic , no feel and all to often sloppy . Yes he has inspired many and he has produced incredible songs but the erratic nature of his playing these days leaves me thinking he just don’t care . It’s awful to see .
