Don't touch it, don't let people come near it, don't let it become just one of the tourist destinations. This Maya Beach is one of its own and it's probably best to let it 'live' by its own. It is a treasure and it's, by any means, should be left alone in its own glory!
People who respect nature should be allowed in the right numbers. Don't allow the average tourist to go anywhere near anything that should be conserved and protected.
I had the privilege of visiting maya bay, having my feet on that sand, swimming in that water on my last deployment in the US Navy. Best experience of my life and I’m thankful for it. Thailand is the most friendly, most beautiful place I’ve ever been.
Nice to know that the Thai government has a plan to restore the beauty of its national treasure. I was there back in 2016 & fortunately for me took a personal guide who brought me before the hoard of tourists descend upon its shores. I did manage to have a small beach to myself for the most part & thought how special this moment is knowing this is one of the most stopped beaches for tourists. I love Thailand but seeing the amount of people that visit its islands each year does takes away the pristineness. There is a fine line of tourism & nature conservation. We as tourists should be more mindful & try to reduce our impact so that the next generations may also enjoy the beauty of its beaches.
50% of our rain forests are gone. Man has doubled its population to over 7 billion in 50 years. pesticides are killing us, food is toxic. The crowds were absurd, people and boats filled the entire beach, it was such a bummer to realized I was part of that mess, so I am glad they have decided to temporarily close it, this place needs a rest, hopefully a long one.
Since last year no boats are allowed in the bay, no swimming, you come in from the other side of the island on a temporary pontun. Also there is restrictions on how many people can be there at once, there is never large crowds since it reopened last year.
You are also a tourist. It’s kind of funny how people think they have the right to be alone on the beach when they are ALSO tourists who SHOULDN’T be there. Extremely entitled behaviour. Have some self awareness. If you don’t want massive groups of tourists going there then you should also stay away. You have no right to be alone on this beach or any other beach.

Version 1 that’s just your typical Thai name lol that’s why they all have official nicknames
When you fill in a survey and they ask for your name 😂 2:56
I just came back from a two week holiday in Thailand and I saw Maya bay but from a distance and I'm glad we weren't able to go onto it because I'm happy that it has been shut so the marine and wildlife can return and start to thrive and not have humans there to destroy it.
Keep bio garbage away from paradise please. And no plastic or glass bottles .
Bio ?
Easier said than done cupcake
Richard Dawson went to a protected island in northern spain with one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They had no trash cans, all waste should be brought back onto mainland by yourself and it seemed to be working pretty well. Didn’t see any trash laying around. But also that island wasnt full of chinese and american tourists so idk
Go thanos on us
Paul Sabian glass wouldn’t actually be too bad, but plastic and rubbers yes
BRAVO !!! I think the health of an environment and protecting it is much more important than the desires of tourists, DUH!
More of scenery @ 1:52 please
Sicko. Get help
Went here about two years ago and one of our friends had a drone and Ipad to record. While we were jumping into the water our big friend jumped and cause that boat to lean side to side. Hours later our friend couldnt find his Ipad. Beautiful place, glad i got to go there hehe
Is this where they filmed when Aquaman met his mother? 🤔
Looks like
This makes me so happy
And the award for the skinniest guy on earth goes to this guy! 1:58

Shut the fuck up
The skinny tourist stole the spotlight
When ya doing a survey and they ask for your name 😂
I visited it 2 years ago , and it is a true paradise on earth. It's sad to hear what environmental effects such visits have had on this paradise.
That's not true paradise tho.. the true paradise existed long ago.. it's in the book of Enoch with full details and Bible
There is no balance, keep humans away
Humans didn't destroy this speech so there's no balance to be had. 2004 tsunami hits beach and it was on a beach no more as a completely devastated. And now it slowly recovering still after so many years
@@nationaItrust actually no, you are wrong, I have been there and spent a lot of time with the people, officials and people in the marine world.
Humans living as though they own everything is destroying our marine life, plastic particles, over fishing, chemicals, boats and so much more cause coral and sea life to die.
Keeping humans away gives nature a chance.
@@ajjoshi 😂 No I'm not wrong, a massive tsunami destroyed it all in 2004 and it still hasn't recovered.
Thousands of paradises across the world.
That French frog looks ill as anything😂 someone feed him!!
This is what the movie the Beach was about, to keep this beautiful island clean and whole without the toxicity of tourism.
Never understood why everybody was so excited about that movie. A solid 1/10 in my view.
Y O if you were part of teenager at that era... you probably knew....
So you didn't get the point of this video right ?
The first 30 minutes or so captured the atmosphere of backpacking and meeting new and interesting people in foreign lands to a really sundrenched soundtrack, it worked. .
The rest was garbage though.
I’m glad I was able to step on the beach and walk around plus swim in the bay. Having said that It’s sad to see the impact all those boat trips have on the environmental health of the bay. Hopefully the reef grows back after this ban!
Same in Boracay..
So glad I went there before it closed. Stunning place, disgusting how people treat it 😭
Duke Dumont - I Got U
Gargie wrong channel man
It's amazing that these people responded the way that they did to save this habitat...
Gseric47 this comment has nothing to do with the beach but as tiny as they UA-cam pic is.... your skin and smile caught my attention... God bless😊
Looks like something out of uncharted 4 🤔
FO. TV deadass b
FO. TV lol you actually upload videos and only have 90 subs. Yikes
I ❤️ the movie "the beach" because of this.......what a paradise ☀️
Oh I’m early yay! Also that beach looks beautiful!
I visited Thailand recently. It’s got beautiful nature. But I was shocked by the lack of care with planning and care for nature.
I’ve seen paper clips thicker than that guy
Thank you BBC News always brings good news for all people around the world.

The maya bay feels so free and happy now without tourists steping on its beach, let maya bay alone with its beauty
Whenever I hear that accent it brings back great holiday memories. 'you rike teeny mister? me sissteen mi ruve you rong time fitty bhat'

I camped there about ten years ago. There were maybe 12 of us. It was awesome.
Our TV licence goes to this guy; so he can fly around the world. Eat exotic fish & drink finely matured wine.
ABSOLUT. And bring us ground breaking news. How else do you suggest he brings reports from Thailand? As for eating and drinking, he’s not going to travel halfway round the word and then stop eating! I really don’t understand what your gripe is.
With love 🥂

He could stay in a 2 star hotel instead of a 5.
RovexHD would you? If my editor sent me half way around the world I would *not* stay somewhere less lovely than my Home to save a few pounds/dollars. How do you even know he stays in five star luxury?
@@JulieWallis1963
I don't.
But surely some are. I was giving an example. It's paid work, it's not like you should have the privilege of staying somewhere supremely luxurious.
I visited a few years back , the sand is like talc. , it must be preserved for the wildlife and future generations xx
