I remember when we field tested those back in 2002-2003. The 105 variant had all sorts of issues. The ATM/ATG variant was really effective in urban combat. I was in a pre-1129 Mortar carrier version. I love and miss the Stryker. It saved my life more than once in Mosul. I can tell you for a fact that it will stop 12.7 rounds. The best part was that ours had 110 outlets so you could plug in the coffee pot when we were in the field...lol.

Let me guess, was it mostly on the FTF issue, especially with the earlier model that had those low profile ammo replenisher? Because if that was the issue, it was pretty much an expected issue they never took account of, because that was the same issue that (mostly) got the Expeditionary tank rejected in the Armored Gun System selection back in the late-1980s. Unfortunately because GDLS failed to notice this when they say they followed the DOD's requirement for the Stryker vehicle families to use existing technology, and nobody in Teledyne informed GDLS about the Turret system problem when they took the existing Teledyne light tank turret and mate it on the Stryker chassis, you get that sort of issues plaguing that Wheeled Assault Gun lol

@@kamalmohammed3439 Field-tested: testing it in the type of environment it would be deployed it, and it's usually in training range. 2002-2003 is the time when they were trialed in USA. Stryker MGS were only made available for combat use in mid-2004 where a platoon-sized of 4 MGS was combat-tested by the 82nd Airborne in Iraq.
@@kamalmohammed3439 I seen them in Iraq as I was leaving country in 2004. I was an M1 crewman and looked at the Stryker and thought how stupid it was as a vehicle.

The MGS was a nightmare to actually serve on. A great weight-loss platform.

@@sethgordon8954 Indeed, but in this case much more so. I was in a Stryker Brigade and the recce and infantry models are great vehicles. So much more roomy than the Brad. But the MGS just sucked. It had no cooling system at first and it was cramped for the crew. It was so hot. You would just be soaked after being in one for eight hours. And one may ask themselves: During the Iraq War, after 2003, why would a MGS platoon be needed? Good question. Because of running the War on the cheap, instead of the mission set the MGS was developed for, direct fire support and maybe some light TD duty, we were divvied up between the infantry battalions and were running patrols because of the chronic lack of enough troops. Yes, counter-insurgency patrols, which if there was a fight would be all infantry, with a MGS. It was stupid. And simply miserable in the Iraqi heat. Guys would be so dehydrated they would need help getting out after a patrol. Add to that the constant issues with the autoloader and everything else. So, eventually, they started fitting crews out with a literal cooling vest. That helped somewhat but it was never not miserable. I suppose if one was leading a MGS platoon in Germany or some place temperate it would be ok.

@@killdizzle After 120F it all starts to feel the same. I remember the wind in Kuwait burning my skin and the sand storms were pure misery. Iraq felt cool by comparison and it was still 115F lol.
I feel that if there's a nuke in play the timer should stop, but only once the aircraft is airborne to prevent base camping. That run on Tunisia was so close and Odd would have had it too
That was straight Top Gun shit, some of the coolest stuff I've seen in War Thunder
I really want this thing. When I was in the Army I got to qualify on the Abrams, Bradley and Stryker, and it is so cool to operate those vehicle.
It’s a good vehicle just don’t rush with it. I put a few bushes around it which helped. Thanks for your service too btw

I prefer light tanks, but the inconsistent scouting drives me insane. Crosshair right on someone in full view? Scouting locked. Only a rough idea where the enemy is at behind cover? Scout in their general direction... success!
Scouting has been absolutely broken for a little over a year now. If they aren't going to fix it, the least they could do is severely reduce the cool down punishment for missing a scout.

im pretty sure its a server issue. some matches you can scout no matter the distance or line of sight/concealment, same vehicle,same map different match and you cant scout ANYTHING
This is a Stryker from 3rd squadron 2nd Stryker cavalry regiment. I was in Hawk company 3/2 SCR in Iraq. 3 squadron is known as wolfpack.
That’s pretty sick currently in 3/2 CR we no longer have hawk company anymore plus we call them troops not companies anymore since we are cavalry unit with infantry put in it. But still pretty neat to meet some old cats that were in the same squadron I am in 🤙
they need to add its suspension, correct the gun depression zones, remove the exhaust showing up in the thermals (its not realistic at all), remove the gun shield when slat armor is removed, and buff its reload. Make it 6.5 seconds or something, 7.5 is way to damn long especially since it is the TOP end of its IRL rate.
Also a buff to its turning radius would be nice, there is no way it turns that horrendously. The wheels have way more room to turn.
On the other hand that poor XM-1 seriously needs M774 and its missing smoke launchers. it would be nice if for once US stuff could not be missing as much shit as possible. Artificial nerfing needs to stop. If either of these were russian you could bet your ass not a single thing would be missing, and they'd have the best possible muntion.
The usa isn’t perfect but it’s not suffering like minor tt’s, it’s definitely the worst treated major nation in terms of tank rb
All they seem to care about is Russia tech tree. While their army gets humiliated in real life, I guess Gaijin just wanna let the Russian players believe their army is invincible. They keep adding broken stuff to it, by now Russia can spawn in 17(!) extremely competitive tanks in Ground RB and that's without counting in their broken heli's. Meanwhile, the Leo 2 has around 17 variants, yet they just refuse to add anything. Absolutely disgusting.
The moment some western devs make a game similar without the blatant Russian BIAS, I am sinking money in that game and Gaijin devs can go fuck themselves.
US has some of the most OP bullshit CAS in the game, and universally undertiered planes, and currently dominates all of top tier air with its bullshit. Even ground is very powerful, XM-1 may be missing smoke launchers but its absolutely disgusting at its current BR, if youre doing badly with it then its a skill issue.
Smoke is realistic, must add a model of your tank in the sights (like the gun in sight from gunner)
The Turning radius really is that bad trust me I drove one for 3 years and yea the exhaust blocking rhe thermal is just not true at all idk they modeled it like that but shooting people to the right of you is borderline impossible

The challenge is called "Basket Bomb":
Your goal is to accurately drop a bomb into any open top tanks' turret basket (e.g. M10 / M18 / the big german td's / the german AA's etc.)! Extra points if you use a very low-tier aircraft like a biplane, for the funnies.
I think that would be extremely fun and it would make me so happy if you gave it a try

This thing with M900 now is so much fun and grouping this with the XM-1 and a ground pounder like the AV-8 or the A-10 for a full premium lineup, it makes grinding the tech tree so fast.

I always forget and I'm not set up for it anyway, but apparently there is a way to adjust your suspension in game. It occurred to me as you were talking about being too low to shoot over a rock and also not having the gun depression.
Yeah, you can keybind it. It’s mostly useful on the swedish wedge
The Stryker has the ability to raise and lower itself IRL but as usual since it's not a Russian vehicle, it is missing that feature, as well as several others. Unfortunately though it cannot TILT itself, so it can't change the lack of gun depression over the front, however IRL it has between like 8-10° degrees of gun depression over the sides and rear, obviously that is not correctly modeled in game... As usual.

That things mechanics must be from General Dynamics themselves to not break down immediately upon starting up. Farthest I ever saw one go without needing to be towed was 20 miles

M833 is a perfectly serviceable round even at 11.0, the round on the 105 that fall short of 11.0 is m735 which has trouble penning the lower plate of 2a5 and 6
M735 is an 8.7 round that doesn't belong past 9.0. But plenty of US tanks are stuck with it at higher BRs than that simply because everyone seems to just be ok with US having the worst possible rounds out of everyone constantly.
The XM-1 in particular suffers severely from that bullshit.
I love how it rocks when firing. The engine sound needs to be improved though :)

#20;35 There seems to be a rendering exploit or perhaps hack specifically on that map. I think it comes with some sort of package. I have experienced non-rendering snipers there and they were making very long keyhole snap shots.

I never fired them or went into the field with the Stryker, but I did help some mechanics with some maintenance on one that was next to my Abrams during services and holy hell, I never want to pull an engine or change tires. I would rather do Chinese water torture lmao

maybe it would be horribly annoying, but I think there should be some sort of overtime mechanic as long as a nuke is alive.
Try to go out with half ammo, and bait with the rear. The rate the loader fills the autoloader is a bit slow anyway, and the gun can't be loaded manually otherwise (obviously do to the turret design), so u better of rearming at a zone if 9 round not enough. Tough I'd say this should be 9.3 too do to its many flaws (poor agility, gun handling, rate of fire, ineffective stabilser, lack of reverse...)
Odd could you do a button map video for ground, just like you did for your case plane video would appreciate it if you could
Now I can see that not only my scout does not work properly, I hope they will fix this cause a lot of the times I can't scout someone cause my scout funtion is buggy

don't forget that in next update (or the one after that) Gaijin will reshuffle tanks into rank8 like they did with planes and Wolfpack like all rank6 premiums will suddenly be a lot less useful (look at what happened to japanese T-2 early) ... and we'll get new batch of copypasted rank7 premium vehicles. So, buying Wolfpack for full 60$ probably isn't good idea, talisman on techtree M1128 (that is at least rank7 vehicle) is a much better & cheaper choice.
As someone who likes the stryker it really doesn’t matter. It is a fun tank.
My last 2 nukes couldn't be called in for the same reason, game ended. Thanks for not giving nuke an air spawn gaijin.

I've noticed that since the patch scouting has been nothing but pointless. I've had numerous matches where I would get maybe one in 10 possible scouts the entire match because it's so broken.

War thunder is so funny because Germans and Russian mains are like "nooo, the tank is balanced because if you hit a pixel perfect shot that's different for every model you can one hit it, depending on your round and range." But then Americans can just be clicked on while having to very carefully aim their shots and pray the post pen damage exists at all.
