now... this snare really cuts through, and this shell really cuts through, and this sheet music really cuts through, and these scissors really cut through.
papa bless
When you can't afford an extra kick pedal
Or an extra kick
That's why i'm here lol
Or anything
You know it man 😅
Or you don’t want one...
This video really really cuts through
Yes. We need more Metal stuff. :) Is he a permanent instructor? I like how he explains things.
my favorite dude to learn from
You don't always need a metal snare drum, I've got the mapex chris adler warbird and it is honestly the loudest snare I've played! It'll cut through anything!
so lesson one... buy tons of cymbals
Thank you, this is really helpful for a us single kick metal heads
also dude, "china cymbal" is not the preferred nomenclature... "asian-american cymbal" please
Matthew S Please tell me this question is rhetorical
Andrew Workman hahaha +1
the fact that noone got this joke is what made it so funny
pfft... I'm triggered by this post
The Dude abides
Thanks so much for this! I can make a single pedal sound like a double but it makes some beats so difficult, so this has really helped, really needed it!
thank you , great lesson to get me started
I love how he explains the applications within the song for each beat
Thx Sean, been yearning to see u for a long time!
I MISSED YOU SEAN!!! MORE SEAN!!!
Best intro to metal on drums !!!
Promark Neil Peart Rush signature sticks found in a lot of places.... wood tipped made out of shira-kashi oak .... amazing strong 5a diameter but slightly longer than 5a amazing sticks very long lasting
I'm usually not a Metal Drummer but I LOVE THESE BEATS and they are so helpull for my drumming ... :)
thanks bro these are awesome
Hey Sean, what kick drum are you using? Sound great and clear!
Thank you this helped a ton!!!!!
I'm used to watching Jared, but Sean is actually a pretty good teacher too. The forward explanation is really useful.
You just gotta love the HHX series :)
Is there a pdf for this lesson? I followed the link for the resources but I don't see it.
AWESOME!!!
Thaks a lot!!!
Thanks, right to the point.
Something heavier finally! Double bass beats next please, this was awesome too.
Great video. Sweetness
Kick sounds great
Thanks! this might be useful!
So I'm looking for a mix between metal and rock. What sticks do you recommend?
nice beat
hey sean im having trouble keeping my hi hat or cymbal timing right while playing the bass drum that isn't in the same beat as the hit hat or cymbal for example on the third beat my right hand will go faster on the cymbal or hi hat when I play the bass drum so that my right hand is in time with the bass drum if you know what I mean?? any help?
You can also hit the floor tom, for a double bass drum like effect.
Great thanks a lot !
Yuss thank you so much
please more metal stuff
!!!!!!
3:14 LOOVE this riff
love it
@StephenA93 From "new kind of tension" part! Except that he is playing 8th notes.
This is all hardcore, nu metal, beats. Modern metal.
pretty awesome, my drummer drums with single bass pedals for my band, sucks though cuz im in a Thrash metal band á slayer... so I totally miss out on all that hardcore double bassings...
If i have a bass drum with only 1 pedal, can i buy one or i need a special drum set that have 2 pedals on the bass?
What kind of kit are you using?
great!
@allmetaliswelcome the bigger the bell, the clunkier and less cutting it is. The classics bells are loud and piercing and perfect for metal
Yeah i can do the 4th one!
The beat that he starts at 3:15 is the most fun its simple and sounds good
Even if Joey jordison is my favorite drummer,I learned EVERYHING from Lang.
Is there a certain way to tune the bass drum for metal?... Bass drums in metal always seem to have a shorter thump than other genres.
u should do more
Number 4 is the beat from The kids arent alright - the offspring
more!!
@seanlame Hey there Mr. Sarcastic, I dont appreciate your attitude >:( but seriously, I started learning it today, and my right foot is waaayyyy better. You think it'll take a ridiculously longer time for my left foot to catch up??
lets point out some simple facts first...
1 - I am 16
2 - I've played the drums for 3 months now...
3 - I am not a magician
I would love to be a professional drummer but this thing takes time and my time is limited to 6 hours a week... but whatever I do what I like and I like what I do
Isn't Run to The Hills played with a double kick?
part of it is heel to toe, and another part is lower leg strength, and the best part is having your foot up on the pedal
What BPM is beat at 3 11 ?
@brennaldo101 shorter bass drums, more muffling, wooden beaters, head selection. little things that add up, there is no genre specific tunings, but these things listed would create a punchier, quicker and shorter attack
can we please see some metal drum cover songs from this guy?
can someone tell me how long your LEFT foot is expected to take to learn HEEL TOE??
2:40 What is the name of this beat?
You probably are, I think I am too, I've been playing for 2 weeks and according to my band I'm the best they've had at auditions so yeah ahah
@mamanatare1 Haha. Well, if your right foot is already stronger, it will naturally take your left foot longer. The more you focus on your left foot now, the better it will be in the future, much like your left hand.
which hh is he using? sabian hhx what?
More metal plz :D
what's with you and Thomas Lang?
@3:15 )--> It's the Beat from American Idiot - Green Day
"This next beat"
the second one is basically scourge of iron
I am a beginner and I am having trouble with the beat a 3:11. I can do it all separately but when i put it all together I keep on wanting to follow what my feet are doing with my hi-hat arm. Do anybody have any tips on this? It is starting to bother me. I've asked some drummers that I know but they didn't know what I was talking about. Maybe because it's been so long since they started. Thanks in advance.
Mørkskogg I started playing drums almost a year ago. It's a big beginner habit. You just gotta learn independence of your limbs. Try really hard to just keep that straight beat on the hats, and follow the kick drum pattern. It's hard because the bpm of the pattern is faster. Try it slower at like 100 BPM and gradually increase the BPM. it works. Even with learning songs. I gotta learn songs slow and then bring it up to speed. Also experimenting with different beats and just free playing helps too. Its really all about how you learn. But play it slow, and keep that straight beat on the hats as best you can. Search up some independence exercises and try them.
You could also memorize very well each part independantly to a metronome, then practise really slow at first, and then raise the speed gradually
I'm a beginner like you and I understand totally your problem I'm gonna give you some tips that helped me
1.I startrd Air drumming the beat slowly then increase the speed
2.Control over speed
That's actually it pretty but take time so be patient
BLOOPERS! HAHAHA. I LOVE THIS VIDEO! GOOD DRUMMER!
That set is so hot, you are sweating dude
kool !!!!!!!
The songs you can play are simple. Try Heroes of Our time by Dragonforce or Black by Trivium
please more heavier harder single bass drum beats....i knew al these already....would love something..new...maybe an intermidiate to expert level if possible...ppppppllllllllleeeeeeaaaaaaasssssseeeeeeeeee
1st beat is almost the beat on When the Levee breaks
so you're saying... that i'm meant to play the drums?... if so, that's awesome :D... cuz i love it!
dis canadians rul i learned to play drums thanx to jared falk, dave atkinson. and sean lang also mike michalkow but idk if he's canadian
AND STILL LEARNING
wow
3:15 kinda sound like She by Green Day
2:50 insane heavy death metal
Im expecting Sheldon Cooper to say WHHHHEEEEEEEEEAAAAAATTTTTTOOOOONNNNNN!
How about you demo some iron maiden songs with detail
Raaaaaaawwwwwr! YEAH!
That first beat is off the metronome
My first day playing drums and I got the first three down but the rest seem kind of overwhelming oh man
David De Jesus don't worry. You'll get there. We all have to start from somewhere
Don't use their tempo find a comfortable tempo then once you got the hang bring it up a few beats like up five or ten till you reach their tempo or a tempo you wanna play at
....what the hell ... i see other comments like "it took me a while to make this shit right" or "Jezuz i love these vids they took me a while to do on my set but the time was worth it" ..... I DON'T GET IT.... i've been playing for 2 months now and i know songs like Toxicity and Chop Suey, both by System of a Down... and i play them perfectly... Greenday's American Idiot, Holiday and Basket Case.... wtf.... Can some1 please explain me what is so hard about playing the drums????....
@777Arky777 Im writing ;)
Single pedal just sounds better than double imo
@themrsunshineyay hell no! the only bells meinl got are the classic's and the m series... only 8"max, sabian's got up to 12"! way better for metal!
3:14 playback speed x2
You will get lars ulrich
1:42
Really cuts through
@MrHerbalist66 lol!
Smoke weeeeeeed
UP THE IRONS!!! No double bass...even in can i play with madness
he has to say ''Sabian'' bell but we all know that Meinl makes the best bells...
that drum kit kinda similar to Linkin Park Rob bourdon's kit.
He should have played The Wicker Man by Iron Maiden!
He didn't, he said "they made a career out of one bass drum"
That says they got where they are today by using one bass drum, not that they're washed up.
