  • Geraldine Emma Johnson-Lawson, age 81 years, of Forks Township, PA, died peacefully on Sunday, August 18, 2024, at Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, NJ, under the caring watch of Hunterdon Hospice.
A graduate from East Orange High School, she was a Panther through and through. She met and married her husband and from that union had two children, John and JaNeen. Her love, devotion and support for her children has shown in all their accomplishments.
Geraldine had several jobs in the early years as she raised her family, including working at Korvette’s in W. Orange, NJ, and then working for over 20 years for I.M. Burt Stores. Later on, she then worked for the State of New Jersey Medicaid Office for 20 years until retirement. Even in retirement, Geraldine continued to work a part-time job at her local Rite-Aid until she decided to finally stop and, “just do Gerry”!
Geraldine loved her family, and they are all left with heartfelt and often funny memories of their mom, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mary and George Johnson; her four sisters, Alberta, Dorothy, Sylvia, and Faye; her husband, John L.C. Lawson; and her granddaughter, Chaunt’e Nichol.
She leaves behind her son, John Johnson and his wife, Mildred; her daughter, United States Marine Corps Veteran JaNeen Christian; her grandsons, Rafael, who deeply loved his “Sunshine”, as well as Barry and Joshua; her great grandchildren, Jai’Chaun, Ethan and Arya; countless nieces and nephews from the Johnson, Ates, Bembry and Rowe families, all of whom she greatly loved; and many other extended family and dear friends.
Geraldine will lie in repose on Friday, August 23, 2024, from 11:00 a.m. to Noon, in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
Life celebration services officiated by Certified Life Celebrant D.J.
