- The #BMWX6 started the SUV Coupe trend back in 2008 and the latest #X6xDrive40i may be the base engine, but it is arguably the most well rounded version of the #X6. #BMW has given it and the more conventional #BMWX5 a significant refresh for 2024 and the results are impressive.

The ultimate selling machine. Anyone who works at BMW will tell you that the X6 doesn’t sit on dealer lots long. The demand has always been strong.
Doesn’t necessarily mean it’s selling well, just that they don’t manufacture a lot (actually due to *low* demand)
A quick search “BMW USA sales” shows in Q4 2023, they sold 20,697 X5s and only 3,016 X6s.
@@OmarZ77 you’re stating the obvious. Of course BMW builds and sells more X5’s. The X6 is for a specific niche market 🙄. I never compared the two because they aren’t in the same segments. If the demand was low, they would sit on dealer lots for months like another niche product from BMW, the 8 Series. We can’t give those cars away.

The inline 6 that is in the 40i is a great engine. It gets excellent fuel economy and is super reliable. The best motor BMW has ever made.

No, you are not. I have a 2016 X6. I was worried about the reliability but I've had no problems with this car. It's almost as good as the 1994 Mazda Protege. That was a damn good car and I miss it. I would love to have an X6M, but not the Competition.
@@darkurious as a former x5 e70 owner, I would be very afraid if you have the V8 lol. I dumped about $30k in repairs alone between myself and my aftermarket warranty into that vehicle over a period of about 6 years. Half of that was for the timing chain and valve seals for the N62

I'd wager it was actually the Infiniti FX that truly introduced the sporty/coupy SUV.
My dad had an fx50 (v8) with the mufflers cut off, the sound matched the speed which was simply amazing. That vehicle is what made me get into loving a suv/truck being as fast/quick as a car.

I dig the FX50S, I seek'd one out with 130k a few years ago for $11.7k to use as my cool all weather Dad mobile. I put a Flowmaster and H pipe on it with a W6 sub the first week.
As an owner of FX, I would agree, considering FX came out 4 years before X6
While some my argue that could be true, Infiniti never marketed the original FX as an SUV Coupe back in the day. They mentioned it stylish design and 315 HP V8 in the old ads, but we don't recall them ever mentioning it as an SUV Coupe. That is what BMW called the original X6, a Sports Activity Coupe.
I hate the new transmission buttons. The shifter was much better!
I agree. I wonder if it's a cost cutting change. The Shifter didn't take up space.
You get used to it. Easier to use when needing to shift from R to P and P to D/S easier

B58 + ZF8 has been the best power config that I've ever driven. Currently in a F36 with this powertrain.

This is a beautiful vehicle. If I was "forced" out of my BMW sedan and into an SUV, this would be a great option.

I often use the embedded bmw nav actually. It’s great to me. CarPlay is great but often I find the nav system is more consistent as a person who lives in a rural area where signal isn’t always great or even available.
I really like this X6 & I can't wait to buy one.

While I wouldn’t get the X6, I’d get the X5. Better value than the Cayenne and very similar driving dynamics, the Audi and Mercedes come standard with 4 bangers so they’re out of the competition
Which Audi and Mercedes? The Q8 and GLE 53 would be the competitors to the X5/X6 and they are both 6 cylinders.

Great review as usual and a terrific car. Not much to complain about here. Great engine and transmission, it's modern, performs extremely well, even the MPG figures are solid.

Love my M60i! Took 5 months To build due to the individual color but the X6 is the still the flagship of BMW in my opinion. Looks and drives like the ultimate driving machine!
I’d pick the x5 as its more practical
Also, styling is subjective, but I just can’t warm up to this “coupe” styling. Although this does look much better than the Mercedes or Audi versions.
Again, I advise not to compare the X6 to the X5. It's like comparing a 4 door sedan to a 4 door wagon.

My everyday is a x3 m40i and the engine is awesome, better fuel mileage than expected.

Such a great review! I’m in the market for a new vehicle and am sold on the looks of the X6. You’ve highlighted a lot in this video that I need to think about and didn’t pick up in my test drive (opening space of back door, baby seats etc). I need to see if you’ve got a similar video on the new GLE450, the other vehicle I’m considering. Well done on this comprehensive review.

I’m t deserves love cus it was a great vehicle. But it was never called a coupe from Infiniti never marketed that way. I simply searched an original Infiniti brochure and at no point did they call it a coupe. Again tho, still amazing vehicle

Picked up a loaded 2024 X5 M60i and it's super fun. This is very similar, just minus the juice and the extra space.
But it's the juice though 😂😂

I may choose the X4 M40i over this one and take it as a taller sedan. If I want an SUV X5 is the way to go plus it is roomier and with better sight. Plus X5 is 2k cheaper.

I love the B58. Drove the M60i and it was awesome, but just couldn’t justify the extra cost and I love the mileage from the 6. However, no automotive writer or reviewer anywhere can tell my HOW BMW got the power bump out of this engine this year - by changing the boost, timing, compression ratio, etc. Personally, I don’t think they did a damn thing - they have just been under-rating the engine for a few years. Regardless, this engine paired with the mild hybrid is great. I don’t even mind the start/stop.

Im not sure of all the changes but from what I read they added port injection, but that woundn't change HP much. I am like you I think marketing finally rated the engine closer to it's actual output.
It was actually the early to mid 80s AMC Eagle 4x4 sedan.... Not the Infinity, not the BMW, nor the Acura ZDX. But I am glad for BMW's success, on having the X4 and X6 stick around this long.
Yes, that’s what I think of when I see these. Not many know about the AMC Eagle. They were not alive in early 80’s.

I love your reviews, but everybody always fails to mention that it has voice activation that can do over 20 essential commands from rolling down your windows, opening your sunroof or even changing the ambient lighting or the climate control. These things need to be mentioned in the video more often as they are super important as infotainment screens become more complicated.

No , that is factually incorrect. Just googled an original brochure from Infiniti and they never once call it that. Great vehicle truly, just not a coupe and the manufacturer never called it that. They just heavily emphasized that it was very sporty
Given the perfomance, luxury and efficiency, I'd see zero advantage of an E.V. over this for my needs.
The X3 m40i is a bit lighter and this fantastic engine/transmission pairs nicely. Great cars, happy with the performance

People that don't need the extra space. That's like buying an actual coupe, people don't need 4 doors so they get it. With this, some people might not need the extra space and they like the styling. BMW is obviously doing something right since they're the first to pioneer this and still building them

X6 was introduced in 2006 in the USA, and technically Infiniti started the segment with the FX35/45 in 2003
Y’all , please do basic googling before just saying things. It was not hard to find an original brochure for this vehicle and at no point did they ever call it a coupe. 😊
I don't get it, for this price why not buy a x5 with similar features? X5 is bigger and you get more bang for your money.

I will never understand how people think Porsche did a better job with their “coupe” suv. It’s so lazy. It’s literally a Cayenne with the roof cut off like the GLE. At least with the X6 and Q8 they look like their own vehicles. 🤦🏿♂️

It's definitely better. Looks better. SUV/coupes-not coupes always just look odd in proportion to me. Would this be my first option for $87k, absolutely not. And it's %100 a lease only.

I love my 2022 x5 coming from lexus the engineering, ride and tech is so much superior. Only drawback is resale value, very steep decline

Not a fan of this suv coupe body style, although the Cayenne Turbo GT isn’t as bad. That being said, I think the first gen X6 is the best X6 design to date…2011-2014.

GLE “coupe” is really ugly (so is this frankly). Maybe coupe SUVs are just inherently ugly.
B58 with a tune makes over 500hp, plus it’s more reliable. If I wanted a v8 and spent more, then the SQ8 is king for 95k.

@theredline Sofyan, thanks for this wonderful review. Would you consider not comparing the x5 to the x6 in terms of practicality? It's the same concept as comparing a Volvo sedan to a Volvo wagon. People who buy an X6 (me) want a car look but have the command and feel of an SUV. so, please stop comparing the two. As you get older, you appreciate not having to get out of a low car. Some people feel safer in the height of a crossover SAC. Compare SACs to cars and compare SUVs to touring wagons for practicality.
