Do you think theres potential for a software upgrade to make it "Ludicrous"? I felt like this would be a possiblity. Grab the sale at a low price that qualifies for incentive. Sell them an upgrade later on to make up for it.
While it's currently speculation, I personally would love to see this. I feel like Tesla *could* be teasing it given a) they have what's clearly a visualization of Ludicrous speed on their badge, b) they don't call it Ludicrous mode but instead merely Insane mode, c) Elon has stated clearly that Ludicrous mode would be coming to the Model 3 eventually, d) Model S/X have gone to Plaid, paving the way for Ludicrous to come to Model 3/Y without hurting S/X too much, e) LR 3 and Y have Accel Boost, and the Perf version of Accel Boost could be Ludicrous mode, f) it's a no-brainer way to make extra profit on the car and add an incentive to purchase in the future after the initial hoopla has run its course, juicing more sales etc., g) awesome way to breathe new life in the car for current customers, extending and enhancing their love for it and giving them an extra gift (aka exceptional brand loyalty-building), and h) with Ioniq 6N and BMW hot on their heels with upcoming performance EVs, what a smart way to instantly render them obsolete the second they hit the market by totally undercutting their performance specs with a software update that instantly one-ups them - perfect 5D chess, brilliant future-proofing.
This speculation has been running around and it makes NO sense to me. It does not seem to be grounded in anything other than wishful thinking fulfillment. Why do I say this? All evidence points to the 3 performance being battery limited - which is why the U.S. version has a higher horsepower figure than the rest of the world (China made) one. If this wasn’t the case, then why would they have different horsepower figures?…. If the situation was that the vehicle was being software limited then why would they software limit the two battery packs at different horsepower limits? It makes no sense. At the end of the day you’re getting a car which will likely do the quarter mile in 10.8 seconds for $55K and yet people still speculate the vehicle is being artificially held back. I think that’s very unlikely.
@@philparker1278 I agree with this thinking. The only thing I can think of for how Ludicrous could be possible even with this discrepancy, is that perhaps since the LG pack really *is* less HP, they wanted to make sure that both the LG and Pana cars could have the option for a paid Ludicrous mode (makes sense financially, extra free money in the bank, and higher demand due to making the car just cheap enough to qualify for tax credit). And they wanted the increase in performance with the paid update to be the same across both packs, but slightly limited the LG pack a bit more so it has enough headway to have that same level of increase. And it's easier to sell the car itself upfront with slightly less power than trying to sell an obviously less appealing software option. I dunno, just spitballing!
The model 3 is ridiculously underrated. While I was waiting for my Plaid to be delivered, I rented a 2020 Carrera Cabriolet for 4 days, and then a Model 3 Long Range for a week. Honestly, back to back, the Model 3 was superior in almost every way. It felt faster, was easier to drive, and the interior felt better. I know the 911 is faster, but I was faster in the Model 3. I don't think I'd trade my Plaid for a Model 3, but I would love to add Model 3 Performance as a track day car. If Tesla does make a more extreme Model 3, then I might actually let go of my Plaid.
Agree with this assessment. We have had several new 911’s in several variants. We recently traded our 540i for a model 3 dual motor for our nanny car. We now fight over who gets to drive the model 3. The 911 now sits.
Its the Nickel Cadmium Manganese Panasonic 4680 battery. 800 of them .... Good Choice. Made in Las Vegas. 82.5 KWH Nameplate. Need a 650 HP Ludicrous Model 3. Cant wait, Yes with turn signal stalks. Bigger Brakes
I have a '24 Model 3 LR. I find the new turn signal switches to be easy to use. The horizontal bar between the buttons is a perfect locator to make sure my thumb hits the sweet spot every time, don't even have to look. I don't understand all of the complaints people have.
I plan to trade my 21 long range for an updated Model Y performance. This is a very nice preview of what's to come with that car. Why buy anything else? Crazy how some people out there just talk about build quality, which it's been great now for years. I'm over 3 years in and not a single issue and the interior quality is exceptional.
Performance is for racing even. Long range is long trip. Plus insurance will be 3k_4k a year. My 23SR already 5k a year from AAA. Performance will be sky high for insurance. No Performance mod3 for me.
just be aware that the model 3 long range, if you option it with the 19 inch Nova wheels instead of the standard 18 inch Photon wheels, the range drops from 341 miles to 305 miles - which makes it virtually identical to the performance model’s range (which is 303 miles) What this seems to indicate is that the performance model’s lower range is mainly down to wheels. …. So if you were willing to buy smaller wheels after market (maybe even the Photon wheels) you might find that you could regain the majority of the lost range. All speculation of course. But it’d be interesting if that turned out to be the case. Oh, and one other thing, and Kyle actually mentioned this - *if you are in the U.S.* you may well still find the 3 performance to be the better vehicle for long road trips - because as he mentioned unlike the 3 long range (which has the LG battery pack) in the U.S. the 3 performance has the Panasonic battery pack - which makes it better for road trips because it charges faster… so you get more miles of charge per minute. All round there’s a bunch of factors which may make it still the better car for you even when your priority is usability for long road trips.
pretty sure the 3 performance is too. We won’t know though till someone has the chance to track it. My guess is it’s going to be a better track car than the 5 N. Just based on weight advantage.
@@philparker1278 5N is not just "someone tracked it" track-ready, it is advertised and engineered as track-ready car. Hyundai N division took ioniq 5 and threw it in Nurburgring/Namyang and did not came out untill 5N was ready. The car was basically brewed on track and softened for road. Where M3P has track capabilities most likely, wont know untill someone sends it. I hope there is some competition to 5N though, since I wish Hyundai N pushes themselves even harder on upcoming 6N
In US the performance have the panasonic batteri 10-80 = 21min , the long range = LG 10-80% 27 min. In rest of the world performance and longe = LG battery
@@icy1007 correct peak kW are the same. But the charging curve is a lot better on the Panasonic battery. Again 10-80% about 6 min faster on Panasonic.
Mine arrives in 2 weeks. European Version but not remotely worried about the Power difference etc. First off Europeans measure power differently and 2nd its still going to be extremely quick. Cant wait!
It's the LG pack. Hence the lower power limit. It's a downside compared to USA version but it still destroys all the other competition that I can buy in the UK. I'm confident I won't be disappointed.

Good honest review!! Definitely no plaid or S LR even when it comes to highway acceleration, but the 60-100mph acceleration now looks solid; where as the previous M3P 0-60 was already decent, it was the 60+mph that was underwhelming. This would be a great practical daily for those that like to go quick and zip around traffic, occasional track use. The 24' M3P isn't as quick as the Cyberbeast 0-60, but runs a faster mph in the 1/4... Source Dragy leaderboards - 24'M3P 122mph vs Cyberbeast 119mph White interior does look good, but it gets dirty looking over time, requiring more maintenance. I also still like black more and it doesn't cost extra. Not a deal breaker, but never been a fan of the Tesla 3 raised floor due to the battery placement underneath.
I have '19 M3LR and '21 MYP and prefer the M3 because it stays glued to the road. Can't wait to drive this new one! I'll trade up my M3 in the next year or two and this is the one I have my eyes on. Thanks for the review.
Off topic, but I own a 2023 M3 RWD. Disappointed there's no radar overlay for weather, and that you can't use the turn signals to tell self-driving to change lanes.
They’re going to offer a Ludicrous software upgrade to increase the 0-60 time. The only question is whether it’ll require new tires and breaks like the Plaid. Waiting on info from fleet.

@@larrystalica4037 Most people think I'm crazy - I'm glad I'm not alone. I'd still love to own a 911 Cab though :)
the ev geek geeks out. His smile when done tells it all. Just buy one.
I can’t wait for mine😭
Its the Nickel Cadmium Manganese Panasonic 4680 battery.
800 of them .... Good Choice. Made in Las Vegas.
82.5 KWH Nameplate.
Need a 650 HP Ludicrous Model 3. Cant wait,
Yes with turn signal stalks.
Bigger Brakes
Great video.
Thank you.
Best Tesla commercial ever 😂😂😂
Ordered one today. I'm stoked.
The M3P with Unplugged Performance body kit is just nasty. Serious tuner era vibes. 🤩
I have a '24 Model 3 LR. I find the new turn signal switches to be easy to use. The horizontal bar between the buttons is a perfect locator to make sure my thumb hits the sweet spot every time, don't even have to look. I don't understand all of the complaints people have.
What an incredible bargain!!
I order my PF3 a few days ago and I’m patiently waiting for a delivery date.
Outstanding review. I can't wait for mine to arrive.
This was the best ad for Colorado I've ever seen.
Are you going to trade in your 2019 model 3 for the new one?
That's my guess. Although with what tesla would offer him as a trade, he'd probably keep it. Trade in values are shit right now.
Because the 2019s are about to be out of warranty and they are throw away cars?
@@SamAung-dz8tnLol are they really that expensive to maintain? It’s a $35k car and are rated one of the lowest cost to own
I'm a tech at the Superior location! I test drove that same car on Friday! Crazy how small the Tesla community really is, love the content!
He answers this exact question at 37:54
I currently drive a 22 Y performance and your making me want to upgrade to a Model 3.
Could we get a 70mph range test on the new M3P? Great video as always!
Wow. Im amazed at how much he loves it.
“That’s my car” 😂
"Deal of the century"! Yes, picked up mine yesterday.. gray/white! Best car they've made, thus far!!!
Was considering getting the G80 BMW M3 for my DD... but likely going '24 M3P instead and pocketing the change instead 🤪
I remember the Out of spec crew reviewed the new HIghland... are those concerns still present? Boomy interior and tighter than the previous gen
Will the 18" wheels from the older M3 fit? Am waiting on TSportLine to respond. The SQUARED 18s are the way to go.
Good question!
please post when you hear from them. I couldn't find the 18's with 275s on their website either
I've tried to contact Martian Wheels about it, but Drew doesn't pick up phone or answer.
Just picked mine up last week and this thing is SO MUCH FUN. It's so quick yet so comfortable; the tech is amazing.
Drove yesterday 3 teslas and I am in love!
You guys are so much fun to ride along with!
Makes me want to upgrade my 2019 M3P.
I’ve ordered the LR and I’m sticking with it. I want that extra range for road trips.
Performance is for racing even. Long range is long trip. Plus insurance will be 3k_4k a year. My 23SR already 5k a year from AAA. Performance will be sky high for insurance. No Performance mod3 for me.
just be aware that the model 3 long range, if you option it with the 19 inch Nova wheels instead of the standard 18 inch Photon wheels, the range drops from 341 miles to 305 miles - which makes it virtually identical to the performance model’s range (which is 303 miles)
What this seems to indicate is that the performance model’s lower range is mainly down to wheels.
All round there’s a bunch of factors which may make it still the better car for you even when your priority is usability for long road trips.
sounds like a bad idea
@@philparker1278 drove the performance today, definitely don’t want to road trip in those bucket seats. And yes, I got the 18s.
@@EndlessBreathDidges you didn’t like the bucket seats? that’s disappointing :(
I am very glad that you all finally got to test out this car. This is a big step forward for this platform.
Ionic 5 N is fully track ready. Watch Michas video from the Nurburgring.
The Ioniq 5N is truly an awesome performance EV
@@BBingo-v5i yeah at $25 grand more it better be! Sheesh. Just looks like a hot hatchback some kid would drive
pretty sure the 3 performance is too.
We won’t know though till someone has the chance to track it.
My guess is it’s going to be a better track car than the 5 N. Just based on weight advantage.
How many owners are actually going to track their car!?
@@philparker1278 5N is not just "someone tracked it" track-ready, it is advertised and engineered as track-ready car. Hyundai N division took ioniq 5 and threw it in Nurburgring/Namyang and did not came out untill 5N was ready. The car was basically brewed on track and softened for road.
Where M3P has track capabilities most likely, wont know untill someone sends it. I hope there is some competition to 5N though, since I wish Hyundai N pushes themselves even harder on upcoming 6N
5:33 - The Performance Model 3 does not charge faster than the dual motor LR. They are the same.
In US the performance have the panasonic batteri 10-80 = 21min , the long range = LG 10-80% 27 min. In rest of the world performance and longe = LG battery
@@nickolassnielsenit doesn’t charge any faster. They both charge at a max of 250kW fast charging.
@@icy1007 correct peak kW are the same. But the charging curve is a lot better on the Panasonic battery. Again 10-80% about 6 min faster on Panasonic.
@@nickolassnielsenwhere is the proof of that statement?
@@icy1007 In countless tests since the first LG battery was introduced. It's not some new fancy theory.
Mine arrives in 2 weeks.
European Version but not remotely worried about the Power difference etc. First off Europeans measure power differently and 2nd its still going to be extremely quick.
Cant wait!
From Shanghai? You know which battery pack we get?
It's the LG pack. Hence the lower power limit. It's a downside compared to USA version but it still destroys all the other competition that I can buy in the UK. I'm confident I won't be disappointed.
Yeah it's calculated differently will be negligible. I'm concerned about the lack of improved battery charging efficiency though
i really doubt they will make a crazier M3P cuz it will heavily stall out model S sales
Just make it 670 or 700hp not as fast as a plaid
@@mcsike7264 the base model S is 3.1s 0-60, the new M3P already rated at 2.9s so with nearly 200 extra HP that would blow the doors off a model S, so that would kill sales

16:50 YES, also it’s super dangerous that they hide the Track Mode menu after enabling it if you want all safety assists quickly back on
I like the previous version white seats with the black doors on my '23 Model 3. Not a fan of the new white doors. Now that the seats are ventilated, I might have to go with black.
Yeah I feel
the same but need the white inside
What tires and wheels would you put on it. I just purchased one after watching this video.
I want this so badly
I have the 2021 M3P and I agree with everything you've said so far. I may be ready to trade.. didn't think I would say that!
Sold my S and might get this. S is a bit to big for city driving for me and it had a ton of issues on delivery....hope they worked on quality!
The standard model 3 highland with RWD is already really amazing at accelerating and handling curves (very direct steering wheel!!!) and driving!!! It's more a sports car than a sedan! Kind of like what Alfa Romeo wants to stand for, which I love! Apart from not having the engine feel, gearbox shifting and sound ofcourse but from a driving point feel, the feeling IS THERE! If you don't mind an EV instead of an ICE car... Definetly top of my list of affordable super sport cars, this performence one!
The truck checking out the M3P at 11:03 is hilarious
The review I have been waiting for!
Would love to upgrade and trade-in from my 2020 M3P but unfortunately its depreciated over 50% in the 16 months I've had it. Totally sucks.
Mightest well keep it till it dies at this point
I envy u guys getting the Panasonic battery pack. For the Performance it obviously makes a difference.
The performance model has always been on my radar ever since I bought my 2023 model 3 RWD. I gotta go test drive one of the 24 performance now
Been waiting for this one!!!!!!!
1. what tires can i get on my M3 performance to maximize range? Is this safe to do?
2. will M3 performance charge faster at super chargers than long range? How much faster?
Jordan subtlety trying to keep Kyle out of jail 😂
Exactly what a good wingman should be doing 😅
Allegedly. 😉
Question for anyone here. How does it handle less than perfect roads? We have a lot of bumps and potholes here in the northeast. Thanks

Model Y refresher is gonna be a game changer
Make a M3P in Quicksilver with white interior eligible for the tax credit and I am in! (BTW I had an early 2018 Model 3 LR RWD and currently have a 2020 MYP).
Source Dragy leaderboards - 24'M3P 122mph vs Cyberbeast 119mph
White interior does look good, but it gets dirty looking over time, requiring more maintenance. I also still like black more and it doesn't cost extra.
Not a deal breaker, but never been a fan of the Tesla 3 raised floor due to the battery placement underneath.
Awesome review. So tempted to trade in my 2022 model s for this.
Thanks

The only question is whether it’ll require new tires and breaks like the Plaid. Waiting on info from fleet.
Definitely not happening
