You chose one of the best places to eat in Costa Rica. I lived there for many years and the food there is excellent. I always recommend to all of my American friends who visit Costa Rica to go to the Mercado Central in San Jose. But I also recommend to try every Mercado Central of every province. The older the place the better
Years ago I went during the Christmas Holiday season. Just beautiful: decorations, people, land and different climates. Breakfast is rice with beans, lunch is rice and beans, dinner is beans with rice. Fun place.
Hopefully he comes back for longer. We would love to film with him and show him some amazing spots like when we filmed at Big Mama's near Playa Conchal. Such a cool spot. Or Yiya's near Nadayure! That's one spot everyone needs to visit.
Costa Rics is still the most memorable trip I have ever had. The gallo pinto trully is mind blowing stuff that I would have from breakfast to dinner, as much as I could
I hope you go to Puerto Limon ❤ the food is insane... you have to try paty, rice and beans, plantinta, ron don, pan bon. And best of all lo mejor de limon es su gente🎉
We are planning to head to the Limon province early 2024 to film. We can't wait to check out the food and culture there. So different then here on the Pacific side.
@@jjtravels7145 oh we are definitely not scared, we wanted to come in October but we need to save up money to head that way and film. We're looking forward to it. We already know people from the area and have a subscriber that wants to show us around Limon town! It's going to be fun showing people to not be scared of the Carribean side. Pura Vida
I'm glad you tried one of my favorite ice creams 😋 I don't go to the central market too often, but when I do I always make sure to get myself one of those.
Hey Mike! Its Saturday. & i know this is about to be delicious.. They put passion into their food. To when you taste it, you taste the passion too.. Yum-my 🤤🐞 Lets go Mike. Enjoy.. 🤟🏼❤️🐞🤗
I can see why Costa Rica is label as one of the blue zone countries. People there eat very healthy, look at all the seafood and beans. Their diet and life style is key to their longevity.
The blue zone is only in a part of the Nicoya Peninsula around the city of Nicoya. Unfortunately a lot of locals here now eat a lot of baked goods and drink beer and coca cola. The Blue zone is shrinking and the newer generation aren't keeping the same lifestyle.
Hey, I’m from Costa Rica, I’ve always lived here, I’m 19 and 2 of my great grandparents are still alive, and I met 6 out of the 8. The thing isn’t rice and beans, sure it’s part of the main diet for most people but it mostly filler food, not like, something we all eat, let alone every day, but there are people who eat it for every meal. The important thing truly is the ground root vegetables, all of these yuca, malanga, tiquisque, ñame, ñampi, etc, etc. It’s really common to eat in olla de carne (meat soup), fried, or used as dough for empanadas, filled with meats, veg, or cheese. All grown and made near your area usually.
Decades ago, my local family there criticized me for eating at the mercados. It's not a cuisine capital, but you get quality of local meats you don't get in SE Asia and fresh produce. Traveling to Costa Rica in a few months and I'm awaiting Flor de Itabo.
The baches are good but to me the forest and waterfalls are the Best of this country. Try southern costa rica is cheaper is not as touristy but there are plenty of forest and wsterfalls in the south cause is where the moutains get to 10.000 feet. (4km) and in a 45 minute drive you get to the beach so the terrain is so rugged that there are lots of waterfalls to me is the hidden gem in CR. Pérez zeledon - uvita( whale Bay). Nauyaca waterfalls is one example of that.
Hey Mickey: great stop in San Jose! I first went to the Central Market in 1992 or 93! It looks nicer now! Of course, the Soda Talas is still around. San Jose has had a large expat- USA community for at least 60 years now! Most Liv we up in the hills surrounding San Jose! You missed some great Costa Rican coffee vendors in the Central Market. Tamarindo Beach on the Pacific coast was developed in the 1980's to cater to the foreigners. You could have bought a 2 bedroom condo on the beach for $US25,000 in the early '90's. I believe today it is very touristy. Off-beaten-track is the Caribbean-side with Limon, Puerto Viejo! Cross the border into Panama & visit the Bocas del Toro national park! Pura Vida!

That ice cream sound like eggnog!
The flavour is a lot more intense than eggnog
It is surprisingly good. Is ceviche fish in cold fresh sauce?
