    I am in love with your experiments! Because of your methodical approach, I feel like I can really understand the different ways the various dyes can be shifted. The results are outstanding! I am inspired.

    Beautiful, beautiful! You are a woman after my own heart. I am no longer able to do what you are doing, but I used to go all out as you have in your quest to find all the varients of whatever you are delving into. You satisfy all of my understanding by the work you put into your videos. I simply adore them. They are so informative and leave nothing else to explore. Well done!!!

    Awesome!! I’d never think of utilizing quite dead leaves for anything. You are a ready science experimenter or teacher -- thorough, methodical, extremely organized and clear. Your videos should be taken as models for demonstrating in classes and video tutorials. Oak is my favorite and it grows where I live. Totally repeating it all myself. Including drying experimental papers on large white sketchbook papers to get stains there as well for future usage. I used plastic garbage bags for drying stained papers but that is a waste if I can have secondary effect on the bottom layer. 25:35 Special thanks for the tip about freezing the dies in plastic bottles. I tend to underutilize my freezer in the basement and this suggestion saves that problem as well as problem of spoiled dies (when I don’t have time to go through them all in time). 26:40. Adding dies to watercolor brush pen set is another super useful tip. Love your collection of died gauzes. 37:25 Skeleton leaves? Please share the results, really interesting! Thanks a million for all you do!

    I did the same with really red autumn leaves and cooked them for an hour . The water took all the color from the leaves and turned into a bright brilliant vibrant red . When I used it to color textile and paper they turned out green and a bit brown/ red .
    Only a smal portion became pinkish 🤗

    Love your thorough scientific approach to making and testing dyes. So useful, too. Wouldn’t want to miss one of your tutorials. I live in an apartment with limited space to do this so your experiments are very helpful. Since you are using three sheets of paper in each color, you could leave them for different lengths of time to compare the effects.

    Oh my gosh! Just love how they all turned out. I may go outside and see what leaves are still around, over the next couple of days. 😊
    I wonder if you've ever heard of adding a bit of rubbing alcohol to the dye so it doesn't get mold. I heard someone say they add it to coffee to prevent molding, but only to coffee they're not using right away. So I add a little to my spray bottle for coffee. It doesn't change the color and I never have issues with it or mold in the spray bottle after it sits for a couple months of non use.
    I wouldn't have room in my freezer currently to freeze the dyes, so was thinking I could add a bit of alcohol, just in case? Any thoughts??
    One of my sisters, who doesn't do journals but collects stuff for me, lol, said she watched a video where he used ground leaves after making dye, added lint from the dryer and made paper. I have tried using lint with newspaper, just tiny amounts of lint as it doesn't blend well in the blender, but it did work.
    I have Oak, Maple, Apple and Tulip trees, my dad has black walnut trees, most leaves are gone at this point, but again, will see what's still out there and there's always next year.
    So next step, make my dye, find the video on skeleton leaves, and try paper from leaves and lint, lol.
    Thanks so much for the great video and doing all the experimenting/work for us, you're so inspiring!! 💜💜💜

    • @Saacibo
      @Saacibo  11 місяців тому

      You're so welcome! Thank you so much for watching and for your nice comment. I hope you find some leaves to try. Here is pretty much too late, it started snowing this morning. I haven't used alcohol in any of my dyes, not sure if it would help against mold. Some food preservatives might ( for pickled foods). I use those in my homemade gelli plate and it works great. Didn't go moldy for over a year.
      I thought of trying to make paper with leaves after making dyes. Still have them in water. I might mix with regular paper scraps or book pages. It worked well when I tried with flower petals, so maybe it would work with leaves, too. Oh, so many things to try... 😊❤️

      @Saacibo  11 місяців тому +1

      Thank you! I tried all of these papers with mordants, too. I show them towards the end of the video. Papers I dyed with other dyes without mordants, didn't fade after 2 years. For example; coffee, tea, onion skin, grape, avocado and so on. I think these will be the same. I guess I'll know for sure after some time passes 😊❤️

I might need one 😂

      I used 80gsm copy paper and I always place it in cold dye. If yours is falling apart easily maybe try with heavier paper. I would also try a different brand, not all papers are the same. 😊❤️
