That whole "bearings arent suited for hard use" thing is way overblown. Ive literally used my s110v version as a shovel in sand and dirt and its never locked up the action or taken more than 2 seconds of rinsing to completely clean out. My XM-24 (also on bearings) has seen even worse; same results. Great review though. You touched on almost everything i would have. I think the way Hinderer does the bearing pockets is something worth mentioning. Instead of milling both bearing pockets into the blade, one side is milled into the blade and the other into the frame. Since the pivot is always gonna be the weakest point, anything to add strength there is a huge improvement. Also, if the coating wearing off the clip/hardware is an issue, ZT will send you a full replacement set completely free. Since prices are reaching truly ridiculous levels, thats something i wish more manufacturers would implement (looking at you, Spyderco). Again, great review. Subbed.
Great video, thank you! I'm looking at the Micarta Magnacut, any thoughts on that variant? I think your channel is going to help my "Dear Santa..." list!
It’s a great knife and have two of them myself. However, it really doesn’t stand up to the 0550 and or 0560 for that matter. The older Hinderer’s are just on another level and made for REAL hard use.
I have a gen 1 550 built like a tank. Work perfectly. Also the nut designed to fit in grove and doesn't need a lock bar like the umnanzaan . The gen 2 is good also vininull did a tortour test it beat all onives even the Adams and cold steel. I believe my gen 1 would have done good also.had a 562 but yeah not a 550
