Road Trip with Kids | Tips for quiet long hauls with young children

Dreading your long road trip, because...kids? We just drove over 1000 miles with our 4 children while towing all our earthly possessions and you know what, the kids were GREAT! Our truck busted a coolant hose and we had to add on an extra day of driving and needed to cancel all the reservations I had already made and re-reserve new rooms along the way, BUT (my husband and I kept saying) the kids were great.
I loved our drive. We have a ton of memories and fun video. It was hard and stressful. Parts we scary and unknown. But our country is so beautiful and so big. It is so loved by those living out there in the most desolate areas. Driving through the adorable small towns that could fit into any movie and makes you think you should stay and put down roots, for just a fleeting moment anyways. Eventually the rolling yellow prairie turns back into that red dusty palette with strips of muted green shrubs. The sky from gray and glum to blue with the cotton clouds that sit flat in the sky. Back Home. Back to Arizona. My 15th move in 35 years is almost done. We are almost HOME.
