Kuala Lumpur's Brickfields, also known as Little India, has a rich history that dates back to the late 19th century. The area was originally a brick-making center, hence the name Brickfields. The bricks produced in this area were used to build many of the city's early buildings, including the iconic Sultan Abdul Samad Building.
In the early 20th century, Brickfields became a hub for the Indian community in Kuala Lumpur. Many Indian laborers were brought to Malaysia by the British to work on the railways and other infrastructure projects. These workers settled in Brickfields and established a vibrant community that still exists today.
Over the years, Brickfields has become known as Little India due to its strong Indian cultural influence. The area is home to many Hindu temples, mosques, and churches, as well as shops selling traditional Indian clothing, jewelry, and spices.
Today, Brickfields is a bustling neighborhood that attracts visitors from all over the world. It is known for its colorful festivals, delicious food, and vibrant street life. Whether you're looking to explore the area's rich history or simply soak up the sights and sounds of Little India, Brickfields is a must-visit destination in Kuala Lumpur.

Hello Angelina, loved your video .I am from India and you reminded me of my time while I was in Malaysia and I often used to visit this place called Brickfields . It was my first time I was away from India in a foreign country and well the cost of living is at par with India especially when it comes to food and rent. Transport system in Malaysia is excellent. Now I do have UA-cam channel too by name SK infinity 17
Thanks for sharing!!
Absolutely lovely!
Thank you Jeff!
Hello Ayngelina & banyak terima kasih 4 makanan India & KL! Malyasia rocks!
I really did love it and now want to go back and see more of Malaysia
Very beautiful place
It really is!
Good explanation
Thank you so much! I also have an India series that in so proud of but it didn’t get many views 😞
Obviously, food goes through modifications in different areas. Different cooks, ingredients and influences. Look at even the difference in Mexican food in Mexico and in areas with a vast Mexican diaspora, close to Mexico. You don’t get quite the same in L.A. Dallas, El Paso as in Guadalajara!
Absolutely and you have to adapt to local tastes, Indian food as it stands would be too spicy for Malaysians. Even in Indonesia Alan's province is considered one of the spiciest but in India he found it almost too spicy at times - although interestingly at times he had a harder time than me. But I think it's because you can get accustomed to certain peppers but find others hard to take. In India I was ok, and in Mexico I am used to the heat, but in Indonesia the peppers are different so it can be unbearable if I have too much.
@@ayngelina very well said. Here’s something for you. I find if I mix two peppers together, I get a more intense heat than either on their own.
Mmm perhaps that's the case here.
Hello from a fellow Nova Scotian.
I notice you sound a bit nasally, hope you're feeling ok! I am enjoying your videos so much. Thank you for sharing all of this. If ever I have the opportunity to travel out of Canada, I now have so many places to choose from thanks to you!!
Take care, be safe and have a blast!
Heather
Heather it gets worse! I had I think the equivalent of a summer cold and it hung on through the whole trip! Thank you for the kind words, Vietnam is up next and I think it's going to be a good one!
@@ayngelina I am eagerly awaiting Vietnam. Sending healing vibes to you! :)
Light show reminds me of Vegas.
Very much so!
I was just thinking about how cool those dresses were before you mentioned it 😂
I love vibrant clothing and India's dresses make me want to go back for that alone.
I'm not sure BTW they even allow tourists to the top, just the sky bridge
Oh well even more reason not to pay for it.
@@ayngelina they charge people now? How lame.
Oh yeah but it was rainy anyway so not much to see I think.
Your vlog is on wesak day. Early May.
Wesak?
